I kind of liked Signs, The Village and Lady in the Water, but the one that really made me hate Shyamalan was when he made The Last Air Bender. Any other director, I would have chosen David Yates or George Lucas, but not Shyamalan.

Here is the thing about Signs. It was marketed as a scary alien thriller, instead it was a movie about faith, of course we didn't know that untill AFTER we see the movie! I thought Signs was going to be scary and suspenseful and about ALIENS! Instead I hear about Mel Gibson and his faith, which don't get me wrong, I thought was a GREAT premise but why must they keep being marketed as a suspense thriller when it is CLEARLY not. 6th sense was good first viewing, after that well you kinda know the twist already so its ruined really. Problem with all his movies is that the USP is the twist, the story builds up to the twist, and once you know the twist... there is no real point watching them again... other than the fact that they suck. keep up the smite! :) xxx
id recommend watching unbreakable again (without thinking about that douche while you watch it) its not building up to a twist, and is kind of a real world superhero film. Its also rewatchable, and not ruined by a twist which is the basis for all his other movies. Plus Willis and Jackson are pretty good in it.

Umm he isn't trying to make scary movies. If anything, he likes suspenseful movies. And they are actually pretty good. I love The Village, The Happening and The Sixth Sense. Signs was pretty entertaining as well, except the ending was pretty cheesy. I think you think too much. Get a hobby.
You have obviously missed the point of his films and he was not trying to make scary movies. Also Ivy was chosen to go through the woods as she would not see anything when she arrived at the fence and people would not question why she did not get attacked, as the elders could say she was helpless and the monsters took pity on her. It was a film about human weakness and these people came together to protect their future children from humanity.
my thoughts on the whole signs movie. perhaps the aliens didn't know about water. maybe they had never encountered it before. it could just be coincidence that they are harmed by water.
well there was that one scene in the movie where that redneck guy was like "im gunna get on my boat because there has to be a reason they aren't making some kind of signs in the water" so i think they were implying that the aliens knew to stay away from water to begin with . . . hence my hatred for the movie and my stimulation to make this video.
I agree that Shyamalan's plots are stupid. However, Shyamalan's themes are insightful into what is going on in our country today. The main theme he always uses is fear so Shyamalan is trying to illustrate fear as a tactic to control people. For example, the village portrays an entire society living in a delusion through fear. The elders used fear to control everyone from exploring the outside world. This sounds familiar with tactics like terrorism and religion holding us back as a species.

I agree with you on his films. However I do disagree about the performance of Abigail Breslin in Signs. I think u need that humor in suspense films. "Would a kid really act that way?" I mean look at the movie itself. You can't take it too seriously. Hitchcock was a master at injecting comedy into an suspenseful & unrealistic situation. It's pure psychology. It's touching on every emotion an audience member can go through watching a film. I thought Unbreakable was probably his best movie.

Your right on so many levels, his movies lack fundamental plot logic, character development, and depth. Having said all that I enjoy his work for pure escapism. He is not a horror writer in the truest vain of horror, his is more of an intellectual attempt in a PG rated format. Here is the thing about Signs. It was marketed as a scary alien thriller, instead it was a movie about faith, of course we didn't know that untill AFTER we see the movie! I thought Signs was going to be scary and suspenseful and about ALIENS! Instead I hear about Mel Gibson and his faith, which don't get me wrong, I thought was a GREAT premise but why must they keep being marketed as a suspense thriller when it is CLEARLY not. That's what I hated about Signs.

Firstly, this lady is mega hot IMO.
Secondly, just cause a movie is deemed "intellectual" doesn't stop it from being a massive hunk of badly made crap. (When i saw the village ive never heard so many average cinema views [i.e. idiot public] slating it and wanting their money back)
Thirdly, i liked unbreakable, one of my fav superhero-esq films, but.. everything else sucks no matter how deep the psychology gets (and i do get it), they still suck.

6th sense was good first viewing, after that well you kinda know the twist already so its ruined really. Problem with all his movies is that the USP is the twist, the story builds up to the twist, and once you know the twist... there is no real point watching them again... other than the fact that they suck. keep up the smite! :) xxx

Its also rewatchable, and not ruined by a twist which is the basis for all his other movies. Plus Willis and Jackson are pretty good in it.

I understand that Shyamalan might want to make political/social statements with some of his films, like fear tactics (The Village) or the environment (The Happening), but there was absolutely no reason for Lady Stuck In The Freakin' Pool. Also Ivy was chosen to go through the woods as she would not see anything when she arrived at the fence and people would not question why she did not get attacked, as the elders could say she was helpless and the monsters took pity on her. It was a film about human weakness and these people came together to protect their future children from humanity.

I agree that Shyamalan's plots are stupid. However, Shyamalan's themes are insightful into what is going on in our country today. The main theme he always uses is fear so Shyamalan is trying to illustrate fear as a tactic to control people. For example, the village portrays an entire society living in a delusion through fear. The elders used fear to control everyone from exploring the outside world. This sounds familiar with tactics like terrorism and religion holding us back as a species.

the comment on the aliens and the trashbags with holes in them is priceless.. and i literally laugh out loud everytime you say "m night" everytime i watch it. you probably could've mentioned lady in the water too.. or how he tries to act in his own movies.

I agree with you on his films. However I do disagree about the performance of Abigail Breslin in Signs. I think u need that humor in suspense films. "Would a kid really act that way?" I mean look at the movie itself. You can't take it too seriously. Hitchcock was a master at injecting comedy into an suspenseful & unrealistic situation. It's pure psychology. It's touching on every emotion an audience member can go through watching a film. I thought Unbreakable was probably his best movie.
