i like this song...i like it cause elton throws in a few unexpected chords in the chorus....i would have loved to have heard elton '73 do this with the original band with dee murray on bass and gus dudgeon producing and paul buckmaster doing the orchestrations..and eltons voice was 20 octaves higher...

Thanks so much! The only version on YouTube (how sad is that?!). This is definitely a hidden gem, if you ask this longtime Elton fan. From 2004's woefully unappreciated Peachtree Road. A real standout for him vocally, too, IMHO. "My life's been stripped down to the wire" kills me every time. Not bad for an old fart! :-)
