The company wanted the success and coolness of a Japanese anime but then didn't want everyone to think it was theirs. That's why Highlander The Animated Series always had different looking, if not better, animation than most cartoons.

Glad they kept the Highlander Scottish however I would rather he carry something like a Claymore blade rather than a Katana still the Katana is better choice :P at least give him a No Dachi though :(
Saw this movie and thought it was okay... the first one is still the best. then the series were okay.. the anime movie was ehhh.. I'd give it a 3/5 rating with 5/5 being as good as the original, so yeah it only gets 3 of those stars.. voice acting is what docked it down...

I really like this movie. It's the best movie in the Highlander series and the fact that's it's in anime style makes it even better. My favorite part was when the Highlander falls from a height that's fatal enough to kill any human and that wise man guy is like saying "that will hurt."

I liked both Highlander and Ninja Scroll but I still have a bad feeling about this... They should've stopped after '86 or '91. The 2nd movie was already freaky enough and everything after it was cheesy. In fact, the futuristic animated series from '94 were probably the best thing after the environmental-friendly Highlander 2. A good way to continue the saga would be through explaining how there were still immortals living by the time Connor defeated the Kurgan (in the 80s).
By the way, I'm not saying the animated series from '94 were the best thing on Earth - I'm just saying they made a tiny little more sense than the 3rd, 4rd and 5th live action motion pictures... The series featuring Duncan were watchable though, but they should've explained how (and why) there were immortals walking around when Connor MacLeod won The Prize in 1985 A.C. - This would make the series' storyline fit into the first film's universe.

I bought this movie and I thought it was an awesome movie. There were a lot of intense parts and it had an interesting story. Although I have seen better anime movies, Highlander: The Search For Vengeance was impressive. A solid 4/5 stars.

well played good sir, This was a good anime, I liked it, to have such a great director, that did Ninja Scroll, this is a real honor. Loved the original Highlander film, this was a great pleasure to watch, I liked the fact that Connor dies several times in the film, whereas in the original Highlander he never did. All in all a good tribute to the greatest classic film of all time, Highlander may it be in our hearts always. Lets hope the digitally remaster original Highlander and sell on DVD, =D

People should know that this trailer is a little misleading.
This is a nice anime and like most animes, it has depth and realism, in story and characters.
So while it follows the basic consept of highlander-ish immortals, the highlander is portreyed a little different than the movies... so what??
I found it interesting and imaginative - in the end, the story matters more than Highlander.

I really like this movie. It's the best movie in the Highlander series and the fact that's it's in anime style makes it even better. My favorite part was when the Highlander falls from a height that's fatal enough to kill any human and that wise man guy is like saying "that will hurt."

I was still mighty suprised that the japanese did their own version of Highlander,
but yeah those like Mr.Kawajari have doneanime movies about sword weilding heroes before so a Highlander anime makes perfect sense.

its a different aspect and vision of the story... ...actually its way better then the movies...i sort of hated the highlander stuff accept the first one from the '86...the other parts are shit...but this anime has a fine story...its not bad at all...first you should see it then judge...

I liked both Highlander and Ninja Scroll but I still have a bad feeling about this... They should've stopped after '86 or '91. The 2nd movie was already freaky enough and everything after it was cheesy. In fact, the futuristic animated series from '94 were probably the best thing after the environmental-friendly Highlander 2. A good way to continue the saga would be through explaining how there were still immortals living by the time Connor defeated the Kurgan (in the 80s).

By the way, I'm not saying the animated series from '94 were the best thing on Earth - I'm just saying they made a tiny little more sense than the 3rd, 4rd and 5th live action motion pictures... The series featuring Duncan were watchable though, but they should've explained how (and why) there were immortals walking around when Connor MacLeod won The Prize in 1985 A.C. - This would make the series' storyline fit into the first film's universe.

The animation reminds me of Ninja Scroll, while the environment reminds me of Vampire Hunter D.

I bought this movie and I thought it was an awesome movie. There were a lot of intense parts and it had an interesting story. Although I have seen better anime movies, Highlander: The Search For Vengeance was impressive. A solid 4/5 stars.

yea I agree with you.What I always love about the Highlander mythology is that what each immortal did with their lifes. Living through human history. They became artist, criminals, lovers, teachers and even antic dealers. Many faces, many different lives.But that Highlander was 1 dimensional and boring.If that character showed up in the Highlander series im sure Duncan and Connor McLeod would have advice him to let it go and the 5000 year old Mythos would tell him to start living and have a beer

looks alright, hopefully the story line is well written. Ninja scroll would be one of BEST old time manga anime. Was never really a big fan of 'highlander' but from what i've heard it's pretty decent! gonna give it a watch, the trailer convinced me

First... its MacLeod, not McCloud... second, you're leaving out Owen MacLeod (from the new video game)... third, Colin, Owen, and Quentin aren't really from the Clan MacLeod... and fourth... yes... all MacLeod's are apparently immortal. *wink*

OK, First off Colin is officly part of the Clan MacLeod even though he wasn't born in to it and second not all of the Clan MacLeod were immortal, only three.Oh not to mention there are rumors going around that Owen might have a blood relation with Connor.

well played good sir, This was a good anime, I liked it, to have such a great director, that did Ninja Scroll, this is a real honor. Loved the original Highlander film, this was a great pleasure to watch, I liked the fact that Connor dies several times in the film, whereas in the original Highlander he never did. All in all a good tribute to the greatest classic film of all time, Highlander may it be in our hearts always. Lets hope the digitally remaster original Highlander and sell on DVD, =D
