Alexi is using standard distortion.

Roope is using either a synth harmonizer set to "harpsichord" or he's using a volume pedal/auto swell effect. I'm not sure which.

It's just a backing track. You can hear the different pans quite well. Plus, in the "Ex-1", you can hear an irregular metronome.

That's actually from Yngwie Malmsteen's song "I'll See The Light"....it's the part right before the guitar solo. On the recording Yngwie's guitar is doubled with a keyboard. You should be able to find a tab for it pretty easily....I teach it to my students pretty often.
