i wanna challenge bigfoot to outpull the hushpower truck. big block methanol snorting supercharged gasser.. and a small cummins 6 cylinder turbo diesel. if big foot does not win, it would be very embarresing.
To much turbo lag... He cant even control the throttle responce. Its not like drag where you can set and build boost then take off. I am a diesel fan but not in everything.
that was to the monster truck world as two old people fucking are to porn, slow and not so much fun to watch but you are kinda curious to watch it in the first place.
What people don't seem to be realizing here is that Diesel monster trucks are still a new thing. There are only a few even in existence right now. So to criticize and say they are not as good as our standard monster trucks seems a bit shallow. You have to give them time to tune in the trucks, and with no one from the past to help them, it's pretty much starting from scratch. I firmly believe in the next 3-5 years, diesel monster trucks will be competing side by side with the others. We'll see.
@blownutsmyass the way i would personally hook it up is to feed the motor with a super charger, but still feed the supercharger with the turbo. and if you really want to ramp it up, feed the turbo with a turbo in kind. yes its possible, i have researched it and done my homework. what do you say?
@miketheredneckable i say 2 super chargers and 2 turbos lol i say atlest add a super charger on what ever setup they have now. they probly have anough at the top end just dont have the snap off the line. and i see they changed the name on the truck to air dog and it seems faster now. watch thos videos.
@blownutsmyass i have witnessed twin superchargers before and the engine always brakes because of the weight of them, and it is too much for the motor air wise. but yes, adding a supercharger to their current set up will give it alot more horsepower. and when they race, i do believe they spull up like any other diesel race. such as tractor pulling.
@miketheredneckable Never seen a motor break from weight, usually just a backfire that blows them off. Compound charging would be good for on-demand power, but so would a propane trickle injector.
@NVMDSTEvil by weight i meant the amount of force needed to turn them while making that much power, such as the tensioning apparatus. that much horsepower putting out that much torque will easily shred belts unless your extremely lucky. ive never seen a twin charger setup thar didnt on a very regular basis snap belts left and right.
@miketheredneckable thats still not the motor breaking and not weight either. Superchargers and blowers dont break belts very often except on dragsters really.
@NVMDSTEvil motors in a truck and dragster spin roughly the same exact rpms, use very similar chargers, and i dont think you quite understand what i mean by weight still. so i will end that here
@miketheredneckable Sorry, but its not even close. Dragsters are turning 7,000-10,000 RPM making 6,000+HP and burning pure nitro methane for fuel. Monster trucks make 1000-1800HP and only rev above 5,000RPM for short periods at the most. They usually use high octane race fuel and/or an alcohol blend. A weak belt shredding is still not a motor breaking and is not weight related. It also doesnt happen commonly on monster trucks or any motor in the 1000-1800HP ballpark.
What competition level trucks? Drag trucks? Monster trucks? What trucks? Someone has to be the first, and I am sure that soon enough he will not be the only one. Diesel is coming around, people are realizing that not only can you have your cake you can eat it to with a diesel.
@thoene1 First off, i a diesel guy, 400hp 6.0, 300hp 7.3...but what i think TSpost62 ment is, if you get a stadium full of 10 trucks like these, theres going to be alot of smoke!!! One sick truck tho, hope it does catch on, get some 7.3Ls in there
@thoene1 Pretty sure he is talking about competition monster trucks. To much turbo lag/small powerband. The bigblock s/c'ed gas engines are pretty much instant power.
spikeyj37. deisels do lag. what do you think is happening when the turbo is spooling up. that is why when you have a deisel truck and hammer on it it doesnt throw you back it has to get the turbo spooled up and then it develops the power. so the time between spooling and hammering on it is turbo lag.
i dont care what you do to a diesel. diesels dont come out of the whole doin wheel stands like supercharged V8's do during drag racing. also diesels wont do 300+ mph in 4 seconds. WHY????
Diesel has made a drastic improvement over the years.
Audi allready won Le Mans with the R10 and some of the cars here like the BMW 535d are goddamn monsters.
Gasoline is almost done, and before we all have to drive electric shit Diesel might just become king.
Doesn't mean I like it, but I think it's safe to say Diesel cars are allready the most sold here in Europe these days, it's just evolution, who knew.....
diesel engines dont crank enough rpm's to do wheeles.
V8's wine-up a lot tighter and faster than diesels. when you crack the throttle on a hi-po v8 it wakes right up ready to rock and roll. diesels lag a bit
@youngron707 Diesels don't lag at all, they have the torque at lower levels which means they could wheelie. The reason any diesel would lag is due to turbo size which is easily changable, but who would want to dump towing power (consistent power) to pop a wheelie. Diesels run mostly peak power all the time and if not they hit their power band early on.

Boring. Diesel has no 'snap' to it with the turbo lag and whatnot. . .
