i don't know what it's like in the USA, but in Germany you get thought so much about the history of African Americans. My guess is you've never watched a minstrel show if you didn't see the racism. The media in those days portrayed ALL black people as ignorant bafoons. Keep in mind that at this time, there were many notable, educated, and wealthy black people in the country but yet blacks were still portrayed as either, bafoons, the help, or mammies. Never were they reflected in a flattering light unless it had to do with Sydney Potier or the like. It's offensive. It's like saying that's all they're good for.

At 2:35 shows a performance of the song "mammy" which was very popular among minstrel shows and movies... (black face movies) I loved Bugs Bunny growing up. Now, not so much. Sadly, this is how white people still talk when trying to do impressions of black people or black celebrities, no matter how well or educated that black celebrity speaks. I saw someone do an imitation of a few of the Jackson siblings, and it immediately turned into "jive" talking and 70s slang.

In other parts of the world they might not focus on skin color, but they focus on class, education, social economic status, family name, etc. It's still the same thing, something people use to make them feel superior. some of those images could be considered the "new jim crow" in a way. most of the old images were offensive because it was white people making fun of black people. the idea of white people dressing like thugs and african american inmates could also be seen as offensive

For over 300 years America was first in education,in 1954 the Brown vs board of education ruling forced American school to let blacks in causing Americanschool to drop from first place for over 300 years to violent animalistic survival zones. In 54 years we have dropped from first place to twenty fourth place.How much more are we going to take from the United States?
