Buddhism is not an aggressive religion like Christianity. Buddhism is destined to decline because it does not fight back. Pretty soon Buddhism will be history in Korea like in the Philippines (which is now Christian), Malaysia (which are now Muslim). Korea will loose its identity.
Islam and Christianity spread fast because they offer quick solutions. They prey on fears of hell. They appeal to the base instincts in a person. Base instincts always prevail over the nobler instincts in humans.
If the Chinese Communist Party should ever be praised for anything, it's stemming the horrible disease that is Christianity from engulfing China like it did in Korea.
To Buddhist believers. It is better to have a Christian President than to have a Atheist President to impose Communism. It is better to have a Christian president than to have a Muslim President that imposes Sharia Law. It is better to have a Christian president because they respect the rights of every citizen and respect the freedom of religion and expression. So, don't become angry to your President Lee Myung-Bak since he is doing good for the better of South Korea. Just come to think of it.
@longlive63 To Christian believers. It is better to have a Buddhist President than to have a Atheist President who would most likely impose Communism. It is better to have a Buddhist president than to have a Muslim President that imposes Sharia Law. It is better to have a Buddhist president than a Catholic president to spread Pedophilia. It is better to have a Buddhist president because they seek harmony in the society and respect the freedom of religion and expression.
@KriztofferKriztenzen Your a moron. Being Atheist does not make one a communist. Heard of Ayn Rand? A lot of hard core capitalists are atheists. Australia has an Atheist prime minister and it isn't communist. Go get yourself a fucking education.
@Nemacyst117 Capitalism isn't any better than Communism. A majority of political Atheists are Socialists, and are increasingly Communist. So yeah, an Atheist President would most likely impose Communism.
I never said all Atheists are Communists. Maybe you should calm down and stop calling someone a moron.
@Nemacyst117 Here is some education for your ignorant mind: Buddhism and science have increasingly been discussed as compatible, and Buddhism has increasingly entered into the science and religion dialogue. The case is made that the philosophic and psychological teachings within Buddhism share commonalities with modern scientific and philosophic thought.
@Nemacyst117 For example, Buddhism encourages the impartial investigation of Nature (an activity referred to as Dhamma-Vicaya in the Pali Canon) — the principal object of study being oneself. Some popular conceptions of Buddhism connect it to discourse regarding evolution, quantum theory, and cosmology, though most scientists see a separation between the religious and metaphysical statements of Buddhism and the methodology of science.[
@Nemacyst117 More consistent with the scientific method than traditional, faith-based religion, the Kalama Sutta insists on a proper assessment of evidence, rather than a reliance on faith, hearsay or speculation:
"Yes, Kalamas, it is proper that you have doubt, that you have perplexity, for a doubt has arisen in a matter which is doubtful. Now, look you Kalamas, do not be led by reports, or tradition, or hearsay. .
@Nemacyst117 Be not led by the authority of religious texts, not by mere logic or inference, nor by considering appearances, nor by the delight in speculative opinions, nor by seeming possibilities, nor by the idea: 'this is our teacher'. But, O Kalamas, when you know for yourselves that certain things are unwholesome (akusala), and wrong, and bad, then give them up...And when you know for yourselves that certain things are wholesome (kusala) and good, then accept them and follow them."
@Nemacyst117 During the 1970s, several experimental studies suggested that Buddhist meditation could produce insights into a wide range of psychological states. Interest in the use of meditation as a means of providing insight into mind-states has recently been revived, following the increased availability of such brain-scanning technologies as fMRI and SPECT.
@Nemacyst117 Such studies are enthusiastically encouraged by the present Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, who has long expressed an interest in exploring the connection between Buddhism and science and regularly attends the Mind and Life Institute Conferences.[
@Nemacyst117 In 1974 the Kagyu Buddhist teacher Chögyam Trungpa predicted that "Buddhism will come to the West as psychology". This view was apparently regarded with considerable scepticism at the time, but Buddhist concepts have indeed made most in-roads in the psychological sciences.
@Nemacyst117 Some modern scientific theories, such as Rogerian psychology, show strong parallels with Buddhist thought. Some of the most interesting work on the relationship between Buddhism and science is being done in the area of comparison between Yogacara theories regarding the store consciousness and modern evolutionary biology, especially DNA.
@Nemacyst117 This is because the Yogacara theory of karmic seeds works well in explaining the nature/nurture problem. See the works by William Waldron on this topic, e.g. Waldron (1995), (2002) and (2003).
@Nemacyst117 William James often drew on Buddhist cosmology when framing perceptual concepts, such as his term "stream of consciousness," which is the literal English translation of the Pali vinnana-sota. The "stream of consciousness" is given various names throughout the many languages of Buddhadharma discourse but in English is generally known as "Mindstream".
@Nemacyst117 In Varieties of Religious Experience James also promoted the functional value of meditation for modern psychology. He wrote: "This is the psychology everybody will be studying twenty-five years from now." What is generally accepted in Buddhism is that effects arise from causation. From his very first discourse onwards, the Buddha explains the reality of things in terms of cause and effect.
@Nemacyst117 The existence of misery and suffering in any given individual is due to the presence of causes. One way to describe the Buddhist eightfold path is a turning towards the reality of things as they are right now and understanding reality directly.
@Nemacyst117 Niels Bohr, who developed the Bohr Model of the atom, said,
“
For a parallel to the lesson of atomic theory...[we must turn] to those kinds of epistemological problems with which already thinkers like the Buddha and Lao Tzu have been confronted, when trying to harmonize our position as spectators and actors in the great drama of existence.[
@Nemacyst117 Nobel-prize winning philosopher Bertrand Russell described Buddhism as a speculative and scientific philosophy:
“
Buddhism is a combination of both speculative and scientific philosophy. It advocates the scientific method and pursues that to a finality that may be called Rationalistic. In it are to be found answers to such questions of interest as: 'What is mind and matter? Of them, which is of greater importance? Is the universe moving towards a goal?
@Nemacyst117 What is man's position? Is there living that is noble?' It takes up where science cannot lead because of the limitations of the latter's instruments. Its conquests are those of the mind.
@Nemacyst117 The American physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer made an analogy to Buddhism when describing the Heisenberg uncertainty principle:
“
If we ask, for instance, whether the position of the electron remains the same, we must say 'no;' if we ask whether the electron's position changes with time, we must say 'no;' if we ask whether the electron is at rest, we must say 'no;' if we ask whether it is in motion, we must say 'no.'
@Nemacyst117 The Buddha has given such answers when interrogated as to the conditions of man's self after his death; but they are not familiar answers for the tradition of seventeenth and eighteenth-century science.
There are Christian fanatics in South Korea that actively attack and vandalize Buddhist temples. It makes me sick because only white trash like the Ku Klux Klan and Nazis pulled stuff like that. That Christian 25% seems to have no sincere or honest sense of spirituality.
I'm a Chinese who's raised Christian. I agree with some of the morals with Christianity but from what I've seen in American churches Christianity looks more like a political faction than a shelter of solace imo. At least Buddhists seem to represent religion more for promoting solace and eastern culture imo...
im native american, follow the great spirit and nothing else no books government or puppets like obama, they tried to make us into cristian too, but we fought them and are still doing our sweat lodge!!!!!!!!!
No ones doing any more miracles, after all this is what the Gullible seek after.
People are easily influenced by illusions, signs, experiences, and fantasies that are a socially acceptable means to acquire more attention of potential friends.
And they base their Logic of Truth off of such BS.
The Buddha teaches that those who want to be worshipped display Miracles,
those that wish to benefit Humanity, do not display their powers.
@laics1984 do u ever know??? south korea is a shitty country..they all copy their style, religion and evrything from white man's country...i think south is a shit of a white people...at least we dont forgot our culture and tradition that our great grand fathers gave to us...and buddhism is from nepal...and its on asia.. and christain came from fuckin europe...for ur kind info >>> biitch
@ManOfConsequences Pls mind your language. For all I know, Jesus is born in Bethlehem, Isreal, and not Europe. Buddhism only reached Nepal in the 4th or 5th century, and Gautama Buddha was born in India. Pls check your fact. For your info, I am asian, and I am a christian. And more, I am still upholding many of my cultural values and customs.
@laics1984 omg...u r such a dumb ass....buddha is a guy name gautam...he is born in lumbini which infact is in nepal....lol....go n search the history..u uneducated dumb ass...
@ManOfConsequences Regardless of what religion you belong to, I just know that you have very bad manners. Ok, that is a mistake. Gautama was born in Nepal instead of India. but that does not make any difference asking people to stop linking Buddhism to Korean culture as it is not rooted from Korea..
@laics1984 koreans are nothing but a cock sucker of white people...at least your great grandfather koreans are buddhism which infact they are following tradtion and culture..one thing buddha is the light of asia....you koreans bitches are turning to christanity whereas whites are turning to buddhism and want to do the art of mediation>>
@ManOfConsequences Its called Christianity not "christain" you dumb shit. Christianity comes from the MIDDLE EAST because Jesus was a JEW and Jews come from the MIDDLE EAST! Christianity is nothing more than a SECTION OF JUDAISM, hence it comes from the Middle East NOT EUROPE! Damn your stupid, and yet your tell others to "now ur kind info", you prick
@laics1984 : Sorry man. Although Buddhism come from India, Mahayana Buddhism is quickly adpot into many Asian country. That is why you can see all the temples are in Korean-style architeture, like ancient imperial palace. This is same to Buddhism in Japan and China.
Do the Christianity adopt into Korean culture root and church looking like ancient imperial palace? Answer is NO.... Christianity is basically still copied fromn Western-style instead of oriented way of building.
@kptay5834 We cant simply judge the church has forsaken the culture and root by the building.. But for my understanding, church do not have a specific design. If you are referring to catholic church, maybe yes, there are some similar characteristics. But the churches that I know of can be every where. For us, church is not about the building but the people. Thus church can be from a house, shop lot, standalone structure, factory lot to even a conference hall. no specific guideline to follow..
I read somewhere that Christianity was lead way for more"freedom of thought," compared to the non-freedom-0f-thought Communistic tyrants. Christians I have met have always been genuinely peaceful & loveing people, also the Buddhists have been peaceful and compassionated. Both teach compassion(love)If only the governments in half communist/working toward Democracy could understand that.
Stop bashing americans, missionaries or koreans for believing wth they want to believe. In the end BUDDHISM wasn't even korean to begin with, its ORIGINAL roots came from INDIA which was derived from HINDUISM and b4 that, something else so on etc. It is not missionaries or koreans fault, its just SOME PPL who believed christianity works for them while others rejected it. Study history please before bashing ppl for "abandoning origins' because there is more to cultural ORIGINS then just religion.
You are overreacthing.. The difference between Christianity and Buddhism is that Christians can devote life to many more things besides religion.. Buddhists seem to be all about religion and to nothing much else.
I am a buddhist from Bangladesh and got really hurt to see this..................we have a 2500 years old history and tradition but most of the history destroy by muslims and hindus..........plz dont let it happen in korea.........
@TomoexNanami let me ask you something. what is so WRONG for a KOREAN to be a christian? I understand what you are trying to get at and I'm not christian by any means but what you are writing there, your basically being completely biased and saying "you MUST follow your cultural roots no matter what, even if it doesn't work for you because you shouldn't have free will to choose how to live your life, and your religion cuz...your korean. so stick with that' .
@TomoexNanami In today's day and age the world is connected. Yes I believe cultural roots should never be completely abandoned but I posted something here that everything is eventually entwined together. thousands of years before Christianity, buddhism was brought from india. Technically if you want to get that specific, no one is really original anymore and its not fair to blame ppl for accepting and appreciating another culture's influence. its a matter of CHOICE, some will take it otherswon't
@TomoexNanami Likewise, I do not think it is fair to bash ppl, whether korean, german, canadian, etc ANY background you are for being a religion you do not approve of them being SOLELY because of the fact that the "said religion" they are following, wasn't directly created in their own country. In the bible anyways, it does not discriminate and anyone can become one, what you look like or where you come from doesn't matter worth shit and so are most religions.
Buddhism has a deep culture and tradition tie to Korea for thousand of years. Buddhism was founded in Asia. Other religions like Islam and Christianity founded in Middle East.
I hope the Korean people will continue to practice Buddhism, because it is also Asian culture. It 's also the culture of our grand grand parents, don't forget that. It makes Asian identity. It is also beautiful to see Buddhist monks and pagodas. Believe me!
Buddhism is a very wisdom and tolerant religion. I am Vietnamese and I live in France. I see many occidentals practice Buddhism because they can benefice about it and of course the society. I am very pleased to see THICH NHAT HANH, a lovely zen master who gives very beautiful and helpful Buddhist teachings to every kinds of religions and people in the world.
Foreign Religion is a tool of Imperialism and colonialism. South Koreans populations brainwashed thanks to American Missionary. The North Koreans needs to cleanses SK from USA imperialist and Christianity.
finaly, some action by buddhist. we have had enough, stop spreading this religion of hatred and killing call christianity and return our lost culture back to us
israel is not asian that is a very big insult to our people, buddha was asian neither islam neither christianity neither jewism is asian.the only true asian religions are buddhism/hinduism/jainism/sikhism and as the monks in south korea i will protect asian culture against middle eastern and western religions
Lord Buddha said that to be a Buddhist and be able to hear the dhamma, one has to have a lot of good kamma in the past. Not everyone can be a Buddhist. According to the Buddha, it's indeed a very rare opportunity.
Learn TIPITAKA - The sacred book of Buddhist (the original teaching of the Buddha- some of hem can be found on the internet )
Work hard for enlightenment. The Buddha said that before we enlighten, we are not able to help others.
This religion that yankees brought to my country is really making us all sick. Please take it back from here, and apologize for what your missionaries did here 100 years ago.I'm serious.
the yanks may have brought it over, but america is still extremely divided over this same issue; so we're dealing with it too buddy... we have fundamentalists, zealots, radicals, you name it dude... we had a rummsfeld as our secretary of state 4 years ago and he was an evangelical who annointed himself with oil when he prayed... with fucking oil dude... a grown ass man... our fucking sec. of state...
You know,Christianity in US is a legitimate religion,i think its great you keep your tradtional beliefs and values;what annoys me is when a foreign religion is imposed over your own cults and traditions by foreigners and threatens to sweep them out. That what happens in S.Korea and that's what about 8 milion crazy Koreans who deny their own identity and think that every truth is written in an old Jewish history book, are attempting hard to do,e.g. by burning down buddhist temples.
This video doesnt even begin to touch off Lee's anti-buddhist zealotry. When he was mayor of seoul he said the city was a "holy place governed by god", so much for seperation of church and state.
He then sent a video message to a christian rally that called on God to demolish Buddhist temples! One of his secretaries went as far as to call Buddhists "satan's minions". How many temples have been vandalized, how many Monks harrased and jeered at and finally, what has Lee done to stop this?
II. Some WEstern governments seem to believe that the missionaries can be used as a tool in their geopolitical stragagems (conspiracies, like overturning existing govts., for ex.), hence they "bless" them and even enable UN links for them to act as human rights and other bogus outfits to hoodwink public resistance and carry on their nefarious conversions. THIS XIAN SIN WILL BE UNDONE WITH TERRORISM AND VIOLENT RESISTANCE, DUE TO MASS MEDIA EDUCATION ABOUT THESE GUYS.
CHRISTIAN MISSIONARIES USING MOUNTAINS OF MONEY COLLECTED FOR "CHARITIES" (MASKING THE TRUE PURPOSE OF CONVERSION), ARE SERIOUSLY MISTAKEN THAT THEY CAN PLANT THE CROSS EVERYWHERE, BRIBING GOVT.OFFICIALS AND POLITICIANS. People everywhere have understood the primitivity and aggressive fanaticsm of the religion for which mercenaries (I mean missionaries) are paid to capture victims (converts). Missionary rascals have infiltrated 95% of nongovt.organizations, rights groups, etc.
they protested after several incidents, the list is on the side, hell any religion believer will be pissed if maps by the govt didnt show the place where you can worship or if one of the high seat has to get out so the cop can search the car, hmm maybe like the Pope. its obvious, if you dont stand up for what u believe in, stand down for the others.
Imperial and Royal patronage of Buddhism is immoral, imagine tax payers money fed on the Buddhist institution where is the justice? unfair yes, in here we can see Buddhism is jealous for political toehold, it is not dominant since the beginning of Joseon dynasty. It really erased it's role in Korean society because of greed and immorality, and they collaborated with the Japanese invaders.
Hey people as if the Buddhist religion in Korea do not commit any wrongdoing, remember during the Goryeo dynasty that they became enormously powerful and corrupt they drained the national treasury = money of the Korean taxpayers! Royal patronage of it became a disaster for Korea like what happened in China = Tang Dynasty. Dont judge if you all don't want to be judged. Peace.
The title should be "Buddhist protest against Taliban leader President lee Myun bak".
He wants and support a Talibanisation of South Korea but a democractic and free south Korea will not allow him to do that. He can join his religious frens Osama
There are 3 imperial ideologies on planet earth: Christianity, Islam, and Marxist-Maoist ideology. All 3 belive in expansionism, destruction of native religion and culture. Communisn has collapsed but is playing havoc in India, Nepal, Thailand. etc. HISTORY is proof that the ancient civilizations of Greece, Egypt, Persia, Mayan, Mesopotamia, and indigenous cultures of Malaysis, Phillipines, Indonesia, the Americas, were conquered either by Islam or Christianity.
Hey people it's like all of you are quite tickled on your accusations against Korean Christians, not all Korean Christians are bigoted as all of you are, being a Christian doesnt mean you are unpatriotic to Korea, if that is the case you are worshipping a NEPALESE HOLYMAN like Sakyamuni Buddha and the Christians are the same? LET THERE BE PEACE STOP! NONSENSE ACCUSATIONS IN HERE.
Oh the president must not be carried away by his religious affiliation, he must avoid discriminatory policies on other religions, he must maintain peace among the people who have religious affiliation in the Republic of Korea. Peace^-^
Satan has multitudes following the teaches of Buddha. But Buddha is dead, he is still in his grave. He is powerless to Save for he was only a man. Even, before he died, he told his friends, "I am not a god. Don't make me one." So, they clearly disobeyed him.
SATAN was a creation of Apostles who were themselves Satans, a word mentioned in Bible to refer to a particular people who are normal, God fearing and thinking. The Satan of the Apostles is every person who does not want to abandon his parent religion. The world is realizing that the original Christianity andChrist died long ago.Christ's followers wage wars killing millions;Satan Pope kept quiet when millions were killed by Christian maniac Hitler. Christianity produces Satans thru comnversion.
Missionaries can be seen in all developing nations especially in rural areas, trying to convert uneducated people by giving them false hopes but unfortunately, they do believe them.
Christian evangelists are making unrelenting attack to weaken buddhist predominance in Asia. They take advantage of people's poverty to convert. Often poor and uneducated asian convert to christianity. That's how they have turn South Korea from majority buddhist to majority christians. But their plot failed in india because Indians appreciate their tradition and root. Most Koreans are wannabe whites. White ass lickers.
Today's Koreans are lost souls. Only about 20years ago, 90 percent of Korean were buddhists. But with extreme Christian evangelism using American military base in Korea, buddhist population has been reduced to 45%. Koreans are feeble minded. They can be easily convinced to turn against their own traditional root in their slavish desire to be white. In the west, Buddhism is gaining adherents because of its profound teaching but Koreans don't get it. Sad story.
Aren't Korean have the highest rate of surgery to look Western? Korean women are also rejecting Korean culture in the States as well. It is quite sad that Korean culture is being destroyed.
@yakmanok ....Both buddhism and Christianity are both foreign religions............neither are traditionally korean lol just thought you should know that =]
@yakmanok I have to disagree with you because I think you are generalizing WAY too much. From other ppl that I have also talked to and are foreigners who have lived in korea, you will notice that koreans are one of the LAST ppl who would want to be white I assure you. I am korean myself and The culture there is very strong, and ppls stubbornness to stick with their own roots are as strong as ever. I can see if you say alot of japan's young generation is like that but, certainly not korea.
@yakmanok=Most devout Buddhists would rather become a bodhisattva and attain Buddhahood, but you missionaries are destroying their reputation of becoming a bodhisattva and attaining Buddhahood by converting them to Christianity, and that should not be tolerated in a country where it's predominantly Buddhist nor outside that country where a devout Buddhist is residing. Karma, reincarnation, nirvana, and spiritual evolution is what most Buddhists would rather believe, so leave them alone.
ONE NASTY trick employed by these paid mercenaries (that is how we call them in India, since the days of Mahatma Gandhi whom you will know): They will brand a big proportion of the population in the country where they do their conversion business, as "godless", "atheist", etc. In Hinduism and Buddhism you need not believe in God, but just be good and loving, and do your duty, that leads to salvation.
But these fellows do intense deception work with all those poor people to convert, saying their original religion did not help to show them God, but no problem, they were only waiting for the Mercenaries, and now JESUS BECOMES THEIR GOD, etc.!! Stupid!
Hata off to you, bmkaruppan for your DHARMIC comments and pro-Hindu stand, which is always pro-LIFE, as against the anti-life, anti-mind, anti-freedom ideology of Christian mercenaries (missionaries). WE need to form a cobined "Hindu-Buddhist" coalition and lobby to Western Govt. to STOP their missionaries from coming to India. Can you/we not write to Rajan Zed about this menace..?
Rukminiji, thanks for studying my comments which I make after due deliberation and survey of relevant facts.I shall get back to you re: your very interesting suggestion to write to Rajan Zed, about whose services for Hinduism I am acquainting myself now after reading your reply.I note that he is an Indo-American staesman who read out, on invitation,Hindu prayers in Nevada Assembly and in a number of other US. state senates. He could take up this issue of deceitful missionary activities in India.
and also a suggestion that a Hindu-Buddhist coalition be formed, to jointly keep at bay the highly uncivilized and deceitful invasion of the Christian missionaaries.
Dear friendConsoleman101, Don't believe religious break-up figures of South Korea. They are faked by your Christian President himself using the numerous Xian officers. These data are demanded by Missions Headquarters in West to be reduced to showChristians as only 25%.If they are really 25%,can they have the audacity to "pray" to Christ to collapse Buddhist temples and engage goons to destroy them during nights, and then to say JESUS ANSWERS PRAYERS FAST, NOT BUDDHA.Petty trick!
I am an Indian, non-Christian whom the missionaries tried their best to convert to their religion. I said you should convert Westerners from Xianity to Hinduism, which is such a nice way of life, with no compulsion to recite this or that scripture, or to bring converts. I told him our Gurus don't encourage us with advice like you guys saying: keep drinking, enjoying and permissive sex and only utter Jesus' name and change your own name. etc.
III. Christianity has bred godlessness, blood thirst, and promiscuity in the West. Should the East fall a victim of these forces? If South Korea, due to its eroded spiritual roots, fell victim to the Vatican, India will not permit its repetition on its soil.
II. This Christian atrocity against Hinduism, misusing Constitutional rights to freedom of religious expression, is naturally resisted by Hindus as an onslaught on their highly tolerant and glorious religion. The govt.has been sleeping all these decades and allowed the missionary roguery to grow to audacious levels. The Missions want to 'plant the Cross' in India. If they do so,it will be broken into bits and thrown right on Pope's face.
Christian missions have been greatly encouraged by the growth of evil Christianity in South Korea, to the extent of making what was the sole religion of Korea, Buddhism, a minor one. Like Buddhists and unlike Western Christians, India's Hindus are mild-natured and friendly to aliens on human considerations. So numerous "Missions" are using all the tricks of their conversion trade to increase Christian flock size under Pope orders, from the present 3-5% after several centuries of missionary work.
Sorry for misunderstanding your good idea for Buddhism. PLs ignore these words, But I see that why one religion is one that teach human good things, why Christian both always speak in ironical voice to others. I see Wars always in their group/
Thanks for your info. Because I am not a Korean so I cannot know much there. But as your info, I know Buddists or Buddist monks are miserable in Korea. And about my comments to you upper is that I misunderstand you in English, sorry for that. I am a Buddist outside Korea, I know Buddism is peaceful, not like other crazy people shouted 'cause they don't know Buddism Tenets at all.
Buddhism is a peace religion, but why the president did bad action like this. He doesn't know about the causal principle at all. I am sorry to say that Korean isnot a Buddism Korea like before.
its kinda of sad just like in World War II when hitler tried to gather germans n other people to their side by prapaganda lee myung bak should resgin right away or he will probably get his ass kicked by tom cruise lol
this is just patheic....since lee mung bak is the president he should never go to churchs and pray as a leader and give them all the support...last year he went to this church in new york and supported them like he never supported our country...politics nreligion should be different...if he was the president of america he would die miserably and resign within 5 days
With the internet, youtube and mass media, the world has started to see south korean Christians as a joke esp the way the pastors preached, the hysterical congregation, the fanatism, the discrimination against Buddhism..Luckily, there are still 70% non-christian Korean people who is sensible and normal.Dun let the 20 plus christian freaks hijack Korea and korean people!
This showed that many evangelists are trying to brainwash and convert the kind hearted Buddhists in Asia. Many NGOs like OMF, World Vision are doing charity works and set up mission schools with the ulterior motives of converting the locals. Thus, end up the upper elitists are mainly Christian like in South Korea.
It is time for the world Buddhists to wake up and restore and propagate this profound religion to the world.
Christian are just create to bring the appocalype

Buddhism is not an aggressive religion like Christianity. Buddhism is destined to decline because it does not fight back. Pretty soon Buddhism will be history in Korea like in the Philippines (which is now Christian), Malaysia (which are now Muslim). Korea will loose its identity.
Islam and Christianity spread fast because they offer quick solutions. They prey on fears of hell. They appeal to the base instincts in a person. Base instincts always prevail over the nobler instincts in humans.

KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago

KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago
@Nemacyst117 In 1974 the Kagyu Buddhist teacher Chögyam Trungpa predicted that "Buddhism will come to the West as psychology". This view was apparently regarded with considerable scepticism at the time, but Buddhist concepts have indeed made most in-roads in the psychological sciences.
KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago
@Nemacyst117 Some modern scientific theories, such as Rogerian psychology, show strong parallels with Buddhist thought. Some of the most interesting work on the relationship between Buddhism and science is being done in the area of comparison between Yogacara theories regarding the store consciousness and modern evolutionary biology, especially DNA.
KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago
@Nemacyst117 This is because the Yogacara theory of karmic seeds works well in explaining the nature/nurture problem. See the works by William Waldron on this topic, e.g. Waldron (1995), (2002) and (2003).
KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago
@Nemacyst117 William James often drew on Buddhist cosmology when framing perceptual concepts, such as his term "stream of consciousness," which is the literal English translation of the Pali vinnana-sota. The "stream of consciousness" is given various names throughout the many languages of Buddhadharma discourse but in English is generally known as "Mindstream".
KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago
@Nemacyst117 In Varieties of Religious Experience James also promoted the functional value of meditation for modern psychology. He wrote: "This is the psychology everybody will be studying twenty-five years from now." What is generally accepted in Buddhism is that effects arise from causation. From his very first discourse onwards, the Buddha explains the reality of things in terms of cause and effect.
KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago

KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago
@Nemacyst117 Nobel-prize winning philosopher Bertrand Russell described Buddhism as a speculative and scientific philosophy:
“
Buddhism is a combination of both speculative and scientific philosophy. It advocates the scientific method and pursues that to a finality that may be called Rationalistic. In it are to be found answers to such questions of interest as: 'What is mind and matter? Of them, which is of greater importance? Is the universe moving towards a goal?
KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago
@Nemacyst117 What is man's position? Is there living that is noble?' It takes up where science cannot lead because of the limitations of the latter's instruments. Its conquests are those of the mind.
KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago
@Nemacyst117 The American physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer made an analogy to Buddhism when describing the Heisenberg uncertainty principle:
“
If we ask, for instance, whether the position of the electron remains the same, we must say 'no;' if we ask whether the electron's position changes with time, we must say 'no;' if we ask whether the electron is at rest, we must say 'no;' if we ask whether it is in motion, we must say 'no.'
KriztofferKriztenzen 7 months ago
@Nemacyst117 The Buddha has given such answers when interrogated as to the conditions of man's self after his death; but they are not familiar answers for the tradition of seventeenth and eighteenth-century science.

Christianity is basically still copied fromn Western-style instead of oriented way of building.
kptay5834 1 year ago 3
@kptay5834 We cant simply judge the church has forsaken the culture and root by the building.. But for my understanding, church do not have a specific design. If you are referring to catholic church, maybe yes, there are some similar characteristics. But the churches that I know of can be every where. For us, church is not about the building but the people. Thus church can be from a house, shop lot, standalone structure, factory lot to even a conference hall. no specific guideline to follow..

@TomoexNanami let me ask you something. what is so WRONG for a KOREAN to be a christian? I understand what you are trying to get at and I'm not christian by any means but what you are writing there, your basically being completely biased and saying "you MUST follow your cultural roots no matter what, even if it doesn't work for you because you shouldn't have free will to choose how to live your life, and your religion cuz...your korean. so stick with that' .
jualkyn 1 year ago
@TomoexNanami In today's day and age the world is connected. Yes I believe cultural roots should never be completely abandoned but I posted something here that everything is eventually entwined together. thousands of years before Christianity, buddhism was brought from india. Technically if you want to get that specific, no one is really original anymore and its not fair to blame ppl for accepting and appreciating another culture's influence. its a matter of CHOICE, some will take it otherswon't
jualkyn 1 year ago
@TomoexNanami Likewise, I do not think it is fair to bash ppl, whether korean, german, canadian, etc ANY background you are for being a religion you do not approve of them being SOLELY because of the fact that the "said religion" they are following, wasn't directly created in their own country. In the bible anyways, it does not discriminate and anyone can become one, what you look like or where you come from doesn't matter worth shit and so are most religions.

He then sent a video message to a christian rally that called on God to demolish Buddhist temples! One of his secretaries went as far as to call Buddhists "satan's minions". How many temples have been vandalized, how many Monks harrased and jeered at and finally, what has Lee done to stop this?

ONE NASTY trick employed by these paid mercenaries (that is how we call them in India, since the days of Mahatma Gandhi whom you will know): They will brand a big proportion of the population in the country where they do their conversion business, as "godless", "atheist", etc. In Hinduism and Buddhism you need not believe in God, but just be good and loving, and do your duty, that leads to salvation.

If South Korea, due to its eroded spiritual roots, fell victim to the Vatican, India will not permit its repetition on its soil.
bmkaruppan 3 years ago
If they do so,it will be broken into bits and thrown right on Pope's face.
bmkaruppan 3 years ago
Christian missions have been greatly encouraged by the growth of evil Christianity in South Korea, to the extent of making what was the sole religion of Korea, Buddhism, a minor one. Like Buddhists and unlike Western Christians, India's Hindus are mild-natured and friendly to aliens on human considerations. So numerous "Missions" are using all the tricks of their conversion trade to increase Christian flock size under Pope orders, from the present 3-5% after several centuries of missionary work.

this is just patheic....since lee mung bak is the president he should never go to churchs and pray as a leader and give them all the support...last year he went to this church in new york and supported them like he never supported our country...politics nreligion should be different...if he was the president of america he would die miserably and resign within 5 days
