  • Free will is the personal experience of determinism.

  • You know all this business about we create our future is part of the illusion that gives rise to an apparent paradox. The way it works is like this.

The Script Writer already wrote the script, it knows what you want and what you asked for. So it builds that into the script, for example if you ask for a new car, it already knew that and a new car is what you get.

That is our The Law of Attraction works it is designed to stop u waking up and realizing who u r.

  • To expand on that I think the law of Attraction should be called the law of Motivation. Because essentially it is the human who goes out and gets whatever it is they want. It generally doesn't come to them.

  • Hi there, I totally agree, I don't understand how free will could exist.. if everybody has it than what makes peoples decisions different? Their genetic makeup + environment? Personally I am a determinist.. It's an illusion, not knowing what you will do next creates the illusion of choice (free) and makes the possibilities seem endless... when they are most limited..

  • I'm having trouble understanding why you think free will doesn't exist. Do you think you could expand on that a little more.

  • Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary (1975) defines "free will" as "the power asserted of moral beings of choosing within limitations or with respect to some matters without restraint of physical or divine necessity or causal law." And this is the meaning applied to the term for common usage. However, I would like to know how a choice can be made that is not the inevitable result of physical or divine necessity or causal law? Even if "God's supernatural will doesn't exist, natural causality does.

  • Consciousness is an emergent property, like liquidity or solidity. We still don't know what makes water, from H2O. However, consciousness is not so mysterious, brain damage effects it, so therefor it's emergent of physics.

  • I cannot imagine Homo sapiens as having evolved consciousness but no other animal did. Consciousness seems inevitable in order for an organism with a brain to function. In other words, consciousness is merely the remaining information after the brain processes and filters vast amounts of irrelevant and relevant sensory input, along with signals from homeostatic mechanisms. Thus, consciousness is merely awareness simplified to provide efficient organism functionality.

  • As we start to understand quantum mechanics better I am 99.9% sure we will find out that they are determined in one way or another.

also people act differently because of different genetic and experience programming

  • Thanks. I would suggest that quantum indeterminacy is still beyond the influence of the will and thus the will is determined by the quantum indeterminacy.

  • An 100% newtonian determistic world does not exist anymore, due to the new Quantum theories. I believe that - since our brains work through electrons - quantumphysics can be applied on our brains. Though, 95% is still deterministic to me. Excellent video again Rybot9000, 5/5 for both vids.

  • the thoughts are not the brain.. brains are made of matter. Consciousness and reason are not.

  • Well you shouldn't call it Newtonian. Newton has not any credit on the issue, not even a bit.
