  • nice dude , dispite the lame comments of aislaith , your videos are pretty good.

  • More bjj teachers need to teach this stuff.

  • Great videos, good tricks I use different single leg takedowns and also the ones you showed and it's great to see them here on youtube.

  • Hey Ken, great videos. It's always good to see Balance guys represent. I'm currently trying to incorperate the single leg into my non existent takedown game. I like the fatc that you're showing multiple ways to finish. Keep up the awesome work.

  • U SUCK !!!!!

  • dude ive watched like two of ur other videos, u suck

  • I only dislike this video cause they are single finishers that are taught to beginning wrestlers. They can defiantly still work on someone well versed as standing grappling can be as much of a chess match as the ground, however these aren't taught at an advanced level in catch, freestyle or folk wrestling. Not hating seriously as these, as mentioned before, would work still on someone if applied quick enough.

  • @EbonZEN these are seen at all levels, you could go into international matches and see them being used, that is what i call advanced basics.

  • Amazing level of retarded comments.. thanks for the vid, I love different finishes to the single leg! Thank you!

  • @spritsengiggle lol, thanks, thats why its youtube and not facebook where people have identities

  • I would take the comment about your knees and the work shit out. Act like a pro

  • not necessarily advanced but they still effective. effective is more important than flashy

  • im not going to try to say anything about the techniques. but i will say that you are a wanker

  • @aislaith blah blah, look at your page, keep hating, lol

  • @kenprimo seriously? i dont have any videos up therefore im a hater? like many people i watch many of these instructional videos (and i train in mma) and your videos are the worst. just give up. noone wants to watch your shitty videos

  • @aislaith yeah, no one, not even the 4 million views, lol

  • LISTEN UP! These may seem simple to some of you, but if you can perfect these and can apply them to a match, you will be surprised how effective these are!

    Thanks for the video!

But bend those knees and straighten that back! lol

  • NEVER FRONT TRIP when the leg is taken high! It sets up the front flip (which may not matter in bjj, but in wrestling it's a major improvement in position).

  • With your run the pipe takedown, do you just prefer to keep the head inside or have you been told against it? I've always been shown to place the head outside (still tightly against the body however) and use the inside shoulder against the thigh as the leverage point. Just personal preferance, or do you have a reasoning against doing that?

  • only been wrestling for a year, was wondering if you have any advice to get hand control, or an inside tie easier, or if you have any videos on that kind of thing, thanks(sorry dont know much)

  • 90% of all takedowns come from the inside single leg boys. Dan Gable anyone???

  • Just "cut" above the knee. Most of the time if you arent fast enough they'll get your head and push it hard...that is why I like doubles.

  • just wondering, who did you take down that was an ncaa division 1 national champ and what weight?

  • @IrishxCarey message me

  • Thanks Ken Primo I always learn from your vids, especially your sweeps. Now I have setups for the single not only from head and arm control but also from wrist control thanks to your post.

  • bad partner. he's afraid/ resisting the fall.

  • nice video! im a fan of the single leg, this is my first highschool wrestling year, and it was one of the first things i learned, thus one of my favorites to do in a match, but all i knew was, lead leg single, out side leg single, and single pick up sweep thanks i have a tournament tommorow and i will try these :D

  • This is some rookie take down finishes. They are not bad, but not advanced. It is these take downs might work in jiu jitsu, but not against a good wrestler.

  • @nateL12345 i took down an ncaa division one national champion before with one of these. how about you, what level are you at?

  • @kenprimo No you didn't.

  • I use the head slap to a trip a lot, but you clear it out like a retard. And the turning away to stack it on your shoulder doesn't work against good wrestlers. They will kick out.

  • @kenprimo so i guess that means your a division 1 national champ then huh?

  • @kenprimo these queers really dont know what they are talking about i think you should just remove their lame comments they obviously arent well taught to except vital information for remember practice makes..........not perfect but...... Permanent

  • @kenprimo Who. lol.

  • @nateL12345 First of all if you are good at the basics you can very well set up your opponent and finish these take downs with ease. the basic fundamentals of wrestling are always the best i mean how advanced or technical is a low single?? have you seen John Smith or even heard about him? I'm sure you have if you have wrestled or studied it. Is that really advanced? the technicality of the move has nothing to do with it, its all how you set up your opponent for an opening to achieve the takedown

  • Nothing works against good wrestlers. After you get a D1 scholarship you can no longer be taken down. All college wrestling matches end in 0-0 ties and winners are decided by coin flip.

  • @givebeesachance What a strange comment. You must be watching the wrong style.

  • @nateL12345 What do you mean rookie take down finishes? These are exactly the finishes that occur in Div. 1 wrestling. What, you don't think single legs work?

  • middle school wrestling teaches u more 1 seazon, i could beat this guy with a gramby and a head lock in refs position

  • Common dude, squeeze the legs and keep your head close to the hip or else your'e getting guillotined.

  • horrible!

  • This is horrible. Please do not video or teach wrestling techniques that are incorrect. Sorry, im sure you will tap me out 100 times in BJJ but you have nooo business teaching wrestling or takedowns

  • This is horrible. Please do not video or teach wrestling techniques that are incorrect. Sorry, im sure you will tap me out 100 times in BJJ but you have nooo business teaching wrestling or takedowns

  • The guy is giving out good instructional material for free and people have the audacity to spit it in his face? If you don't like it then don't watch it.

Any true sports athlete or martial artists would appreciate how lucky we are to go on youtube and watch awesome instructional videos fore free.

I have added so much stuff to my game that I saw on youtube. Not every instructional needs to be from marcelo garcia or demian maia to be useful.

Thanks for the video man and keep up the good work.

  • From the first high single position a more standard move is to scope the leg under and do a leg trip. A more standard collegiate move and transitions well into mma and bjj

  • ken, nice video man. dont listen to half the people commenting about your technique. those were all legit options for finishing a single. i DID wrestle in college. i did wrestle on your hs team! u the man ken.

    c connor

  • man ur even better then my coach !

  • not really that advanced...ive been doing wrestling for a year now and this is basically what we practice, however, it does have a few variations which i will use.

What i do like is how you explain how to initiate the single leg from wrist control...gonna use that next time..

    Thanks!

  • @adhockey99 not me i go straight for the cowboy i love that move never lets me down it can be reversed easy but its a verry fast way to pin

  • Comment removed

  • hey ken thanks for the video. i think the discrepancy people are debating over is not a result of you being incapable but a result of this video being poorly made. please remake it! im sure the negative comments will vanish and you wont have to do battle with keyboard martial art masters

  • thanks a lot for the video really insightful as im a first year wrestler in my sophmore year and i just learned this not too long ago. ill also be putting videos up soon of my wrestling matches for colleges to see and for friends.

  • This is inexperienced wrestling, this will get you nowhere. Its less risky to do a headlock than pull one of these.

  • @ConnorIsTheName wheres your videos? where are your matches? no where, of course

  • @kenprimo Oh gee, sorry I didn't post videos of me wrestling, maybe because I don't really care to post every single thing I do.

  • @kenprimo or maybe because you are full of shit like 99.5 percent of the people on here who just talk without backing anything up.

  • @ConnorIsTheName ConnorIsTheName bullshits the game

  • @ConnorIsTheName so basic take downs will get you now where huh? That is entirely un-true. i know a low single is a basic and thats a fact... I know you know who john smith is and that also should be a fact. so tell me how well did that basic move work for the legendary JohnSmith who actually was extremely well known for his low single leg....its funny how you say basic takedowns wont get you any where when john smith earned 2 ntl champs and SIX world champs! riiight and the basics get u no wher

  • @darrenmillerz Its like saying "The half nelson pin is for noobs"

  • @JUSTINTRIPjl exactly

  • como esse povo gosta de criticar o trabalho dos outros ¬¬

  • What a great way to destroy a knee. You won't see me anywhere near these meatheads that's for sure...

  • lmfao he doesn't even shoot? he kinda waddles over to him xD

  • ive done this 2 my bro growing up all the time man i wish there were more wrestling programs in eastern mass =(

  • I'm going to try this next practice, usually i just stick to the low leg, but this single leg looks like it would work well. Nice vid!

  • he does not know the fine point of the takedown.

  • i personally do not preefer doing singles but more to setting them up then anklepicking

  • @josh3232 a simple rule for single legs,,, if it's not a sweep single, then you do not "shoot" for it, you step in and grab it, if you wanna be real pro, then foot stomp and grab :D. yeah umm he did a correct shot, it looked like he just got a little lazy after the first one and didn't commit.

  • The guy teaching in the gi pants was not a D 1 wrestler. He doesn't even know how to shoot or keep proper position. Stick to Jujitsu

  • @josh3232 yeah i wasnt i know, thats why you have no videos up and just talk a bunch of bullcrap. go back to video games

  • @kenprimo yea...u don't no wu ur talkin about....lol no but some of them are good...i just started the season and these could really help me as a newbie....thx

  • @josh3232 I don't think there's much skill to wrestling. Judo is something more to master. I've wrestled with almost no training and fuck people up in my gym. All I do is get one leg and throw them up in the air. Single or double leg. Wrestling is too simple. There should be a no gi version of Judo and that will be superior to all throwing arts.

  • @youngstunna79 I've never been a judo practicioner but I can tell you that if your ripped and you go to the gym and just grapple with some other guys there, odds are that your not experiencing true wrestling. Alot of the time when you get 2 equally matched opponents, the match is decided by who has the cardio and determination to never quit. From what i've seen and know of judo, the match is usually decided by one or two big moves, something that normally doesn't work that way on the mat.

  • @Saforge What I am saying is Judo is a better art by a long shot compared to wrestling. Wrestling has stupid rules too, it bothers me when I can't move backwards and forced to use only lateral movement. I wish my gym taught Gi-less Judo,. It is more sophisticated than wrestling and has a greater potential to be the superior throwing or take down method in MMA as it was showcased with Karo Parisyan. There is obviously better Judokans than Karo and better fighters. Judo is under-utilized in MMA.

  • @josh3232 kenprimo would take you down and make you Deri-lick his balls.

  • @josh3232 ur a faggot lol

  • Good balance to the guy in the black

  • Why is everyone complaining

  • I like the way how he showed the moves, Im thankful people like theses take their time to post the moves online for us to review.. Thanks!

  • or you could just pull ur arms in...

  • @zzzaaazzz55 can you explainthat please

  • @icharuswing at 0:36 you could just pull back and hes down you dont have to do any fancy mumbo jumbo stuff

  • @zzzaaazzz55 you can' just pull some ones leg they'll just follow you and without a better grip than this dude established i wouldn't run the pipe at that point either

  • @icharuswing if you just pull up then back, theit on the mat period.

  • @zzzaaazzz55 you're starting to irritate me dude. stick to pokemon and stop explaining something you don't understand to someone who does, maybe you should go watch a wrestling tournament or at least some more youtube videos and see how well the 'pull up and back' technique works.

  • @icharuswing it actually works very well. ive seen plenty of videos on youtube. i dont know why the hell you think your such a wrestling genius but your not. just because you disagree to a technique doesnt make it wrong...

  • @zzzaaazzz55 i'm not saying i'm a genius or i'm some amazing wrestler but i am a wrestler and i know that there is more to a single leg finish than "if you just pull up then back, theit on the mat period" other wise wrestlers would not spend so much time working different single leg finishes. for instance sometimes people intentionally keep their trapped leg between yours making your pull up then back technique impossible, sometimes the wizzard your outside arm and flex their knee hard

  • @zzzaaazzz55 forcing you to stay close to the leg or risk having your arm wiped off

  • siriously , you know what the best reply is to anyone calling BJJ and other grappling styles gay besides hospitalizing them with grappling moves? claim that its only gay if you make eye contact :P

  • at the end i would have just elevated it till he fell

  • that doesn't work on an experienced wrestler

  • @icharuswing worked on a college all american, check my competition videos

  • @kenprimo i was refering to a comment that someone else made your techniques seem solid, just not my style. p.s. good point about the underhand grip that alot of people neglect to make

  • @icharuswing ok so if i elaveted your leg to your head you wouldnt fall ok

  • @CelticSold1er there's more too it than that in wrestling there is no 'just lift and pull the leg' in wrestling you are dealing with two people trying to reach opposing goals using the defensive wrestler has multiple techniques at their disposal to prevent me from elevating their leg that is why there a so many single leg finishes in wrestling if you could "just" do anything in wrestling it wouldn't be much of a sport. p.s. i look up the funk roll and see what happens when you try and

  • @CelticSold1er foot to head

  • @icharuswing - doesnt work... haha come on dude your too ridic , DOESNT work?so what this is all some mathematical equation once you attain the rank of good wrestler single legs and variations no LONGER work on you, ever? you can only take down high level wrestlers with takedown c) or b) or whatever.

  • @skate4life5050 actually i was responding to someone else's comment not the actual video, which i would not criticize because this guy is way more experienced than me

  • @icharuswing whoops, my mistake then lol shouldn'ta jumped in

  • great job ken thanks for the awesome demos =]

  • @PKtraceur93 some people are really flexible and that won't work. It's better to elevate and trip.

This vid it seems like they know or were taught the techniques, but aren't really able to execute them correctly.

  • i like to use brock lesnars style , Sprint to the guy and demolish him ;)

  • check out Barry Davis Wrestling Single-Leg Takedowns

  • Your jujits looks good but the single is wrong your head needs to be closer to the hips and elbows need to be in

  • very basic moves. i have never used any of these finishes in a single match in my life! the only thing that i have done in a match is the shoulder finish. these are scrub moves

  • @SUPERxMARBLES

The dump is used in a lot of state matches.

  • Respond to this video...

  • hahaha

  • Those might be basic finishes to an outside single leg, but they're stll effective. Great point about which hand to have on top when they're locked. Again, it's basic, but not everyone knows that.

  • not very advance my middle school teaches those and were all state winners and i teach the younger kids like kids club those moves and i also teach freestyle to them try telling them the indiana or spladdel or even suger bowl simple but advance

  • why don't you start a school then?

  • i already have one its called a middle school there dumb ass

  • go to college, wrestle, then talk

  • @kenprimo i think what theyre trying to tell you is to put more emphasis when you teach like complete the takedown not just half ass it

  • @kenprimo What works a little better with the hi-c you were doing is when you put your shoulder in there arm pit and your head up near the other shoulder youl get up off the ground 4 a easy takedown.

  • @kalapcampos with the way you exude SUCH blatant disregard of your language, i find that hard to believe. it was just a suggestion, it wasn't meant as some snide or sarcastic remark. and if you do teach at a "middle school", its starting to sound like some sort of a scam.

  • @AznInvazn69Theory i did not mean any saracasim as well

  • the guy in the gray has saggy nipples and big arms

  • @adjared2 the guy in gray would break every bone in your body, but before he did, he'd get you to say you rape cows and that your mother is a whore if he was in a bad mood, otherwise he'd just break everybone in yourbody in 30 seconds so SHOW SOME GDAMN RESPECT

  • @adjared2 WHY ARE YOU CHECKING HIM OUT?

  • yea uhh no foe one heal toe knee dude like rly tke a shot

  • be carefull with that t-shirts. can cut the the arm´s blood flow..... buy bigger

  • the point of the rashguard is so it can prevent fungus infections

  • so what about the jiujitsu kimonos?

  • wow horrible technique except very last one

  • you should make a video showing your awesome technique. keyboard warrior?

  • u can also step on the foot

  • that's illegal

  • did u guys do any suspicious stuff after

  • Comment removed

  • camera man, please buy a tripod and make it easier on you and us

  • he's wanking

  • camera guy sucks. can't stand still and he makes too much noise.

  • I think this guy doesn't like to drop step

  • F*(*)**** camera man...always moving..can see the move clearly...

  • when u circle drop it works better wen u lower ur levels.givs u more leverage, jus sayin

  • On the very last takedown, steping inside the leg gives you a brutal throw that adds a face plant right before you take their back.

  • He needs to pinch the knees and when he make the table top should point out that grabbing the heel gives you the best control.

Just happened to learn these from a NCAA champ the other day

  • they do work but not the most effective in real speed.

  • great technique, bad sound!!!

  • I know I said it was bad. But these tech work really well. Also if you want to just take your arm and push off of his hip. Or do what I did in my video.

  • Why did you remove all of your posts?

  • Because a certain somebody I was argueing with. Posted gay wrestling vids. Or erotic wrestling if you know what I mean, and like you he was trying to dis my vids.

  • Well, Im glad you did. You shouldnt post videos or make shitty comments about a subject you dont know anything about.

  • dennis keep your gay shi t 2 yourself

  • running the pipe, great move, all of these are good finishes from a single leg postion, but my favorite has to be running the pipe i used it quite a few times during wrestling season and once you get it down the amount of power you can harness from behind their leg is amazing. you just have to step out with the outside leg hard, drop your level, and throw your hands. you'll have people slamming with this fast easy single leg takedown

  • bananabread your a douche number 1, number 2 your videos suck dick. number 3 your interviews suck even more dick. Tony Martin self defense is fuckin hilarious. if your gonna show your shitty moves film it in a real gym not your parents backyard, u disgust me bananafaggot119

  • if u wanna talk shit back it up, we can do an mma fight in PA, OH, VA or anywhere. We can fight at whatever weight u want, Fuck i can just come to ur house and beat the shit outta u just to prove a point that ur a douche that criticizes people with higher credentials than u.

  • Comment removed

  • its a fuckin joke u douche, and yes u fuckin criticize i believe your gay comment was "hmm bad tech" which says u know jack shit about wrestling or anything else. Get a sense of humor and get a fuckin life. And your a bitch for not wanting to throw down. holla at me and we can set this fight up, I'll get u a plane ticket and everthing. I talked to the promoter u dont even have to cut weight bitch just accept the offer and show up

  • Sorry I only did Judo before BJJ, "Running the Pipe" is what Randy calls Cutting the Line? Is the same???

  • hahaha owned!!!

  • Listen Bro these guys are D-1 Wrestlers and World Grappling Champions. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this technique, its actually very informative. None of ken's videos have bad technique, yours on the other hand are awful. You need to take them of youtube and do us all a favor BananaBread119. I mean that in the most respectful way

  • Sure I have abunch of instructional videos if you would like to watch them. But I will make sure and make a video. On your question.

    Thanks!

    Sorry if I sounded rude....

  • and you wrestled where again?

  • i could give a much more in depth five minute instruction on basic singles, as well as counters to counters.

it's a shot, he never shoots. this might pose a problem.

  • still waiting for that?

  • is this located in boulder colorado?

  • im looking for a nice take down that works every time and is hard to defend

if anyone could help just send me a message

  • no takedown works every time and defending one is as simple as sprawling out. i suggest a double leg

  • thats why you learn multiple techniques, .

    thanks great vid!!!

  • if you ask me a low single is pretty damn effective

  • A good Double, Gotta make it count though, And cael sandersons Ankle Pick

  • Keep looking.

  • man id single takedown you hahaha -boss out

  • great video.. nice techniques and explinations

this will realy help my options when finishing my single legs.

    cheers mate.

  • you are supposed to lower your level when you run the pipe.

  • These aren't very good. We have so many drills where we hop on one leg in muay thai. It's almost impossible to ever push a good thai fighter over if you only have a hold of his leg, and you would find yourself pummeled before you can sweep. Especially with the one where you use both hands to carry his leg. IF he is flexible enough...you have no hands to defend yourself, and he can easily knock you out.

  • yes theres that possibility and also thers a possibility of a succsess of take down even if the attemp expose a few hits on face
