What a wonderful rendition of such a strongly emotional song. They played this at my friend's funeral as part of the Recessional this past week. It just puts everything in perspective for me. Such an excellent composition.
This beautiful hymn was written by Cecil Rice and put to the music of Holst's "The Planets", originally to honor Britain's First World War dead. It remains a favorite hymn there today and was sung at the wedding and funeral of Princess Diana, and is a very beloved patriotic piece in the UK and the anthem of Wales. It is haunting and beautiful, very emotional. This does look like an Asian congregation, which shows the transcendent appeal of this hymn.
This is absolutely lovely! I am a Church Organist myself and am wondering where the particular arrangement heard here comes from. If somebody knows who is it is arranged by, please let me know.
The First time I heard this Hymn was on TV at Princess Diana's Funeral, Also played on the organ Its a Awesome Hymn, and best when heard on a Pipe Organ :)
yeah heard it at Lady Di's funeral and never learnt its name.I was so taken by the haunting tune but i have been searching for it ever since. glad i found it

This should replace England's current anthem 'God Save the Queen'. I prefer this to that dirge.
