That was like $40 of tires on the road. not bright. I bought a 2011 colorado and opted for the 4 cyld. reason is:

1. gets better gas mileage (I just think that in 3 years , gas with be outrageous and no one will want an 8 cyl vehicle.

2. easier to work (space wise near motor) on a 4 cyl. when the vehicle gets older.

the 5.3 pulls well especialy on a 65mph run dwn shifting to 2nd in my dad's avalanche.... i'm sure it's fast in there. I've pulled my nearly 2 ton firebird on a car trailer with no electric brakes hooked up yet and it pulled the car easy. I remember pulling a car with dad's old 86 318 ramcharger 2 barrol and it had to be atleast half throttle to move at a deacent rate and shift about 4K rpm lol the avalanche 5.3 moved at a quarter throttle easy and shift at 3K or so not straining. cool truck!

I have a 1996 S10 SS with the 4.3 Vortec. I've souped it up some, and it now gets a whopping 26.6 combined(400 Miles on 15.0 gallons) with it's stock 19 gallon tank. It also has 154 R.W.H.P., and 204.4 R.W.TORQUE at my last dyno. So just some thoughts for you guys! P.S. it has the 3.42 Axle ratio with Posi, and Limited Slip. So just soup up what ya got "edawg305".

Before GM made the 5.3L Colorado, a guy I know blew the engine in his and dropped in the 4.2L inline 6 from a Trailblazer and built it up and put a turbo on it. That thing hauls ass, they need to put the I6 in the Silverado and the 4.3 in the Colorado since the V6 is more for horsepower and the I6 is a pulling engine.

@truckinman86 no. The LS4 is a FWD V8 for the Grand Prix GXP, Monte and Impala SS, and Lucerne Super. The V8 in the Colorado is the LH8. It's a 4th generation Vortec engine. Just modified to fit in the smaller engine bay.

@truckinman86 i'm going to agree with you, i know it's an LS4 they used in these but idk if they detuned it or used a different intake/exhaust..could be a number of things they did to get rid of 3 hp, but there are every more things you can do to get that 3 hp back..not that 3 hp is even a noticeable difference

the rear ends are fine, it was just yours. My whole family including extended has these. My father has the v8, I have a 3700 vortec, and three others have the 2900. Mine has the most miles on it. 125,000 and my truck has not given me any problems. Chevy trucks are beast. And Buicks are real cars. Both GM. :)
