Along with Marmalade "Ob La Di, Ob La Da", this was the first record I ever bought when I was about 7 or 8. Absolutely loved it and still love to hear it now.
I had this song by Dez played at my wife Mary's funeral back in March 2010 there wasn't a dry eye in the Crematorium, including the Vicar. It was so apt as we only lived 5 doors apart before we married 38 years ago. Dez was always her favourite.

@retepnosdivad This is a beautiful song, I remember it from my childhood way back in the late 60s as a 10 year old, What a lovely song to remember your Mary by,, I hope you are getting through and doing okay my friend...
Honestly, I think you got it wrong about Eric and Ernie. They ridiculed Des out of affection, and Des played along with it. Morecambe and Wise WERE the biggest thing on TV at the time, and every time they picked on Death O'Connor (as Eric would name him) another of his records sold a million :-)
One of the first songs I ever remember hearing. I was SO young (about 3) - I thought I'd never hear it again, like I thought I'd never see anyone from my past again - and then came Youtube, Facebook and Friends Reunited!
Reminds me of my first childhood love, we were both at primary school in 1968 aged around 9 years old, I wonder how she is now, this is a lovely old record, nice to hear again, thanks.
My mum heard this when it was on the radio (she remembers it back then, when she was young), and she choked up! Such a nice song, sung really nice by Des.
been trying to remember another funny song des used to do, i think it was made up of peoples name not sure.. he used to do it in his tv shows in the 70's and 80's can anyone remember it and what its called.. i would love to hear it again.. please message me if anyone has any ideas.. many thanks..
I found your channel through a friend and had not heard this singer, so great to listen to :)

DES O'CONNOR- ONE TWO THREE O'LEARY is a classic melodic pop song 1968.
Its the sick loud noisy garbage rock/metal/punk/hip hop/rap CR-AP that STINKS BAD
Morecombe and Wise were UNFUNNY RETARDS making fun of Des O'Connor
instead of laughing at the revolting unwashed rockers and metal morons.

I remember how much stick Des used to get of Eric n Ernie !
ERNIE: I hear Des O'Connor is a self-made man.
ERIC: It's nice of him to take the blame

ERIC - I`ve just bought Des O`Connor`s new album
ERNIE - From where ?
ERIC - Boots The Chemist
ERNIE - Did you need a prescription ?
ERIC - I had to go to the poison counter !

ERNIE - That's the best record Des has ever made.
ERIC - You mean there's nothing on it at all.

Very nice pop! For this there is also a finnish version of the 1969. Tapani Perttu's sung by "Leikkimajan aikaan"

This actually happened to me personally. The scars remained for years. As Don Williams sang "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend"
