  • Jascha Heifetz is Jascha Heifetz, but who is this conductor Charles Munch ? What a conducting !!!

  • Why do we have to look back on this period as the height of music? We have the talent and the genius now, lets nurture it. More funding for the arts!!!!!!!!

  • This video is evidence of Ludwigs ability to build up a song, when it cut out at the end I just about got up out of my chair screaming.

  • When I listen to this so moving concerto played by the so great Heifetzt I couldn't retain my tears. Even now, I'm already 87 years old.

  • Ahh, such pleasure!

  • I began to play music because of this Heifetz-Munch recording. I literally worn the TDK casette... After 20 years I am a professional symphony musician and still find this recording so moving. I am in debt with Beethoven and Heifetz.

  • Just. Simply. Brilliant.

This is what-if anything- we should be beaming out to the stars.

  • Magic - this piece represents every emotion I know.

  • Van Beethoven - Heifetz - Munch ....... the best they will always be.

  • Beethoven violin concerto with Jascha Heifetz, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Charles Munch: this is the best........one may talk and talk about it, but just accept it. This is a superior rendition. Heifetz has all the ingredients to excel within this master piece.

  • One of the top ten greatest violin concertos ever composed.

  • 4 people have no taste in music

  • Impeccable performance by Heifitz! I love Beethoven and Heifitz!

  • WOW Heifetz PWNS

But yeah I like Ostrakhs rendition better cuz its slower.

But Heifetz wins in precision...as usual.

  • Heifitz is amazing as usual. The only thing I don't like (minor point) about this performance is that the tempo is a bit fast for my taste for this piece. I've always like Beethoven's Violin concerto with a more "regal" pacing, I guess.

  • @rustydomino Agree. I like my Beethoven violin slower rather faster.

  • Heifitz is amazing as usual. The only thing I don't like (minor point) about this performance is that the tempo is a bit fast for my taste.

  • Heifetz is the most masculine musician ever!

  • This is my favorite piece of Classical music period, all time , number one. Great to hear by a master.

  • @rwschaefer totally agree

  • This is an outstanding performance! And very well recorded too. I guess it has not have so many views because it's audio only, but what audio!

  • How can you not love Beethoven?!

  • I was so honored to play this tonight at my chamber orchestra contest. Granted it was far from being this fabulous. It's such a beautiful piece--it brought me to tears. Our version as well as this. Thank you so much for sharing this piece. From one musician to others, this is a masterpiece.

  • Beethoven would have been impressed with this recording, for sure. Amazing playing.

  • Does´nt anybody get it? NOBODY has played this this at this level then . nor now!

  • mash it! muy excellente!

  • Un jeu trop rapide il me semble, mais tellement subtil et nuancé..! Une touche d'une grande délicatesse mariée à un archer léger et spirituel !

  • Why doesnt this have more views this is top quality in everything. Excellent orchestra thee best violin player and one of the hardest violin concertos there is (sorta).

  • i managed to find this on a high quality remastered CD a few years ago when Tower Records was still in biz. Mendelssohn's E minor was the second selection. While I'm not in a position to doubt Satchmo Sings, this is quite simply the best piece of music I've ever heard. Better than scotch, drugs or Maria Callas on a good night.

  • ハイフェッツはとてもいいが、オケがダメ。

  • @3gatsunolion オーケストラも素晴らしいです!

  • My favorite version of Beethoven's Violin Concerto----sublime.

  • @64drc In my opinion Heifetz's 1940 recording of this same work with Toscanini & The NBC Symphony Orchestra is better, not because of Heiftetz, but because of Toscanini's handling of the orchestral part.
