I've heard the different climates and altitudes actually play a big part of how music sounds.

Recently a band from Japan, VAMPS, had an American tour. They said they had to tune their guitars and other instruments a lot to get the desired affect over here, because it's different playing in the US then it is in Japan- and they blamed it on climate and stuff like that. -shrug-
