Flapjack's scenes are based on 18th century etchings. :l And the blood was to make an antidote with Flapjack's apparent natural immunity to the plague, something that is still done today. Doctor Barber's 'surgery' is also a play on old pirate 'doctors' who usually had both the job of 'surgeon' and carpenter.

well that makes perfect sense. and i didn't know they still did that these days with almost every disese having a cure these days. thanks for clearing that up. but i heared that on dry land in the 1800's, docters were also barbers (which is very uncommon these days)
