I'm reading Dracula and and I remember reading about the ship Demeter. So far part 1 is staying true to the events in the book pretty well. At least when they refer to the past. This is, of course, 200 or so years after the events of Dracula.

The idea that dracula was cursed judas is great but why could they have not gotten better actors. The girl with black afro, van helsings daughter, is such a bad actress I hope she never gets another acting job...in fact all the women in this fim are TERRIBLE.

Yeah Butler may not be up to par with Schreck, Lugosi, Villarias, Carradine, Lederer, Lee, Palance, Langella, Kinski, Gary Oldman (not the best movie but he was good), or even Leslie Nielson's parody of Dracula, but he really hasn't got a good script to go with anyway so I'll give him credit for trying. Plummer isn't given what he deserves, but again he does his best. But it's Dimension, so naturally lesser actors hog the screen. Still at least the opening was okay.

Well that's exactly what I said anyway, but yes I agree. I doubt he'd be the "perfect Dracula" (though at least he's better than Roxburgh or Kirkwood or Bryniarski), but I like to think there's a possibility for everything. Actors seem to whine alot when it comes to the role however mostly because the studios exploit it so much and don't write it properly but given Plummer was in the forgotten Nosferatu sequel before this, maybe Butler would be willing to return too.
