to be a different faction u must keep playing the game and each time u complete a campaign the game allows u to be a different faction my first faction after the roman factions was gaul

it's not after you complete a campaign, you get a new faction after you outlast them or destroy them. this applies to all factions except for like 6 or 7, including, macedon, spain, and others....

at the start menu when you start te game, go to options and game options, somewhere yo can change 'unit scale' to huge :)

as you can see phalanx is good only for defending,when you try to atack in phalanx the chances of defeat are preety high

oh wait im sorry, i was looking at the wrong angle and hadnt watched the full thing, it looked like the germans were on ther other side of the wall at the beggining, but still, why in the battle tab does it says you guys have 1894 men and spain has 715, when at the beggining it says 1894 enimes and 715 germans?

i think germania is easily the strongest barbarian faction cos most have the same units but the germans hav the phalanax aswell witch makes them kick ass

You start out with a small army in each of your settlements. You can recruit new units though

Well if you took Rome in the first 10-15 turns, the campaign was probably on easy...with cheats.

It was on hard, i just avoided the gauls and TRIED to avoid most of the julii, I just moved like 3 full armies down there and easily took rome.

IT isnt that hard.. Once i took rome i went back and killed gaul with my advanced units and what not

You can do that basicly with any army, as long as you mass up your troops and rush them to rome, they NEVER have troops stationed there.

When you take rome, fix up the walls and have your Spear Warband out there, then rome is literaly untakable.

Besides, the extremely hard Senete army is NEVER EVER EVER in rome itself.

BUT rome is basically defended by the senate army very well experienced Scipii,Julii and Brutii protect the senate too

i think originally the spartans invented the phalanx, and other armies began to copy them because it was almost unbeatable.

yeah but there early phalanxes are easy to beat because they break faster and their shields are smaller. Greek cities are better plus elephants may have the effect of frightening your enemy when they charge but they're to costly they might go crazy on your own men and kill them or they might just die and waste your money and you have to pay for them every season T_T and it's not CHEAP PLUS THEY DIE EASLY! So much cheaper to get soilders then elephants they can kill more and no down side about it

beat short campaign and you get them all or beat a long campaign or just beat the faction or cheat but i don't know how to do the cheat but if you do cheat with it make sure you save a back up file or you might have to reinstall the game if you f up

This is the same tactic i would use a lot of Spear Warband there phalanxes work wonders.

the best campaign faction is greece because if u use a phalanxe properly u can totaly annihlate any army of any side. they r quite hard 2 use without backup though

not really the greeks weakness is not having good calvery which any one with good calvery can take advantage of and there slow moviing so missle troops with some cav = gg for greeks. best cav the greeks have are greek calvery+gen that's it

You beat the game as one of the roman factions and then you unlock other factions to play as. You pick one in a new campaign and win with that faction.

Wash,rince, and repeat to unlock them all

sorry im just not as impressed as the others...I mean, it would have been a great battle given that the enemy outnumbers you, but this was a dumb battle...who would have sent the cavalry outdoors with the spears band waiting for you outside making a bottleneck???

whats wrong with speared warbands? they are fairly cheap, come in big numbers, and any skilled phalanx general can dominate with a cohort of any speared troop againsed almost anything.
