I've actually seen this taunt with sniper still, if you use the smg and taunt he'll do his little heel tap in the air and then do a high five, its not as plain as this but could have derived from it, or was just different to begin with? the world may never know >.> it's not new stuff though like someone below me said, just unused

i would guess it was cut out because there were already Positive voice commands, which made it obsolete, and the fact that it was just time consuming due to the chance of you not doing it at the right time

They updated the taunts recently, I think. They each have 2 animations for if the high-five misses, and 2 for if the high-five lands successfully.

And based on Pyro's animations, he's either flamboyantly gay, or a she.

As has been stated before, this is most likely a remnant of the War! update that never got implemented, since the story that went along with the update was the Red Demoman and Blu Soldier were friends and whatnot.

I think one of the unlockables in the Engineer update needs to have this as its taunt, but it only works if there are two engies doing it within 1 second of eachother. If sucessful, they high-five. :D

It looks more like a remnant from the development-stage (when Valve still considdered using the old TF spam).

The soldier throws a granade (you see him holding his hands together to pull out the pin), and the demoman plucks a granade from his vest and chucks it.

Maybe they plan on reusing them as taunts...
