  • Pops got me into Chase, I was listening to Bill at a very young age, late 70's early 80's, dad's AR turntable, redd Koss headphones:)..back in Finland.

  • Don't worry folks, Bill Chase gets hooked up to an oxygen tank after every performance! lol Geez, how does that guy displace that much air to play that? (DONT say 'practice')

  • @RedLightRunnerBand A lot of truth in all of that...It takes a strong younger man to play a trumpet to those taxing and amazing levels...We have heard of those passing out with such extreme effort...I played one in an Army Band but, was never s screamer...I left that to those who could...

  • how cool slingerland double bass

  • Hay, I dressed like that in the 70's it's embarrassing. Now it's very much less embarrassing, girls in middle school that dress like hookers, with their stocking tops showing, holes in the butts of jeans, boob jobs the size of basketballs, and piercings and tattoos more prevalent than a South Sea island. OK you're right.

  • fantastic always loved them. how tight and clean

  • I exchanged my Bill Chase albums for Manayard Fergouson albums when i was in college in 1976 to hear the different sounds. We were to trade back at the end of the Quarter & compare notes. I never got to make that exchange back & regrete it to this day !!!!

  • Gawd the 70's were embarrassing.

  • @Kilgorski And what's so non-emabarrassing about people today? People look even more retarded today. At least in those days, at least from the 60s to the start of disco, they had great music to go with their embarrassing fashions whereas nowadays all they have is complete garbage. No one person on the charts today whose music is anything but mediocre.

  • My jazz band director likes to tell us all about when he was in college, him and his buddies used to go to the local college bar, when Chase played the graveyard shift, and catch the tail end of the show before class started in the morning. When he told us about that, I came home and sat down at the computer and looked him up. Huge fan now.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!

  • Mom must have sent me to bed early the night this was on. 40 years later I finally see this.

  • It'd be in tune too ! Something Maynard flat out can't do !

  • I'd rather listen to a double C from Bill Chase over Maynard ANY day of the week, primarily because there's a 100% chance it's tied to an awesome solo, and not the melody to 'Hey Jude'.....

  • Great freakin Energy. DAMN. Love the 1970's Horn Band.

  • i love the ratio of pelvic thrusts to high notes...it's 1:1

  • This song was my first introduction to Chase right there in the early or mid 1990s as a kid, it wasn't until the first decade of the millenium I begin to dig even more to Chase by reading, researching, studying and listening to him. He was such a genius but never get the recognition or the credit he deserves...hopefully now he does from the fans and music people alike.

  • Wow! I used to take lessons from that skinny blonde guy - Alan Ware... when I was in high school ... Seems so long ago. If you're out there Alan -- thanks for the chops man!

  • @patersonfan wow

  • @patersonfan He's living and Playing in Vegas !!!!!!

  • @taximan55 I am Alan's niece and would love to find him! Do you have any way to find information on what he's up to, where he's playing, etc.

  • @ashleynoelle09 just look him up in the phone book like i did in the mid 90's when i moved out here. We briefly talked & I asked him if there was anyway i could get my lp autographed by him. He said he lived in old Downtown Las Vegas and would call me back but never did. I didn't bug him after first contact cuz i didn't want the impression of being some stalker dude. I never see him out playing w/groups nor doing the top shows in town, but who knows he may still practice 4fun

  • @taximan55 He lives out here, he might be playing but i go to see a lot of groups here in town such as Sante Fe and the Fat City Horns, and know most of the top call trumpet players&what Casino Shows they play in. If he is still playing, I haven't seen him out performing w/a group although, he may be just like me and playing for fun at his leisure at home.I made contact w/him in mid 90's, looked em up in the phone book to get my Ennae Album autographed, but we never linked up.

  • the man !

  • When Chase played on The Tonight Show with Carson in 72 for the first time with this piece it was a jaw dropping experience to every music school in America. The entire trumpet section of The Tonight Show Band incl Conte Condoli (RIP) and Doc Severinson watched in complete awe and respect hearing Trumpet taken to its physical limits! It is an unexpected and improbable thought that 40yrs later his imprint is STILL going. RIP BILL

  • @ronoman88 I have looked for a video of Chase on the Tonight Show everywhere. They did Women of the Dark and I watched in awe. If anyone knows where that could be found, I would sure be appreciative.

  • This guy could just flat play the horn. No one like him since.

  • Bravo...loved listening and playing to chase music in the glorious 70's.

This is a great video. Thanks for the memories.

  • Many, many thanks for posting the Chase postings. Too little video of him/them available.

  • Thank you for this video. I've been listening to all three of Chase's albums all day. Can't get enough!

  • Wow, I don't remember many drummers sporting double-bases back in those days. Maybe I just have a bad memory? :-)

  • @SouthernManX

Ginger Baker,Mitch Mitchell.Alphonse Mouzon,Keith Moon, and Carl Palmer are just a few that come to mind from the late 60's early 70's rock era.

  • terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • On mornings where my wife is having a hard time waking I love putting on this record. Usually she's fully alert before Livin' In Heat.

  • Many thanks for posting !

  • thank's for this video!!

  • I've been waiting for this video to reappear for years! Thanks!!
