The A10 Thunderbolt was a world beating ground attack aircraft. Low on sophistication but a deadly ground attack aircraft and successor to the Douglas Sky Raider and P47 Thunderbolt.
The Russians got it right first with the IL2 series which in my mind was the deadliest ground attack aircraft of all time!
i dont know the ac 130's been around since vietnam and is projected to be in service for quite awhile. they recently put 40mm and 105mm cannons on it. they practically put a tank in a plane and said "fuck em up with this"

Waaaaaayyy the hell back...I heard this at their concert for the first time...remember back then? 10bucks to get in...Holy crap!!!!!! One proud BC'r here!
know I just skipped my night class for the sole purpose of coming to see them play. So they played their entire concert for just the two of us. It doesn't get any better then that.
I remember seeing them in '94. It was the best concert ever. They were playing at this little dive in town. I found out they were playing about an hour before the show. I picked up my girlfriend and we went just hoping that we would be able to get in. We show up and we were the only people there. The band comes out, sees the two of us and no one else. They ask if we want to to play or if we'd rather just be left alone so we could drink. I let them
I'm so glad to have found this. I LOVED this song back in the day. I saw Prism w/ Loverboy once upon a few lifetimes ago, and getting to hear this was the highlight of my night.
This was a rocking song in the early 80's. As a former soldier then airman from this era, it was an anthem for us- not to go to war, but to keep the peace in a very unsure time. To those of us in uniform it rocked, but kept to the forefront the very real possibliity of a war between us and the Soviets. Fortunately this did not happen.
What I really think is funny (I've got my reasons.) is that the prophecized battle of Armageddon actually did officially begin just a couple of weeks ago (No shit.). Guess what's coming up (Other than me running amok.) within the next 7 years?!
Amazing tune! As I'm playing this right now, my 13 year old son's feet and legs are just flying to the beat. And this is the first time he has heard it!
what kind of jet aircraft did they used here on this video, at first i thought this country has no totally interest for expansion their military power because they took more there attention for economic growth rather than military projects!!
It's got my babies the A-10s in it! I was a crewchief on the FOTE team for these when they came out (and I got too tall to be a pilot anymore) and designed some of the mods in it. Even then there were old school military playing stupid games and favoritism.

Canada's best? It's a great song, but there are so many great Canadian songs. It for sure is up there in the top five or six. Maybe the most prophetic...
@pivot1022 and right you are, I entered the Corps in 1977, was station at NAS Memphis in 1979, the local radio station played the song at least 4 times a day, and the clubs played it over in over, sales more boose, I quess, have you ever seen a full moon over memphis, or the crowd that gather at graceland back then on Elvis's birthday just to see if he was realy dead, The song rocks and yes it came out in 1979... thankyou for the correction.....
I was in the Marine Corps in 1997 when this came out, I was at NAS Memphis and they would blast this song at the club you want to see a bunch of Marine Air Grunts go ballistic, know 30 years later I still get fired up when I hear this song and the viedo is fantastic
While watching the fires across the city of Memphis due to the Fire and Police Strike and also the normal craziness going on at Graceland during a Elvis Death Anniversary this song was written
Let's not confuse the situation here. This is a Canadian song by a classic 70s Canadian Rock group used by certain US military personal. God bless them but don't don't let your patriotism forget who your neighbors are. Godamn Canadian talent Rocks!

@koryfknbrine You can add Bare Naked Ladies to your list of great Canadian bands that are maybe better than Prism. I have several students hooked on "If I Had a Million Dollars" and "One Week".
However, Prism is awesone too. This song got a lot of questions when I first played it at work in 1988 here in the southern US.
putting a A-10 on the boarder of pakistan is a waste of a great attack air craft the taliban couls take it out easily its got great armour yeah 70% chance it would servive still a big gamble
great song love this stuff go air force to bad it aint canadian could of did snow birds boring yes lol we need to get f-18 snow birds or at least the hawk lol something better than toutors they still noisy
We'll never listen to this kind of music again. I'm gonna cry now. The musicians were true artist back then. God Bless The Rock Industry. Nothing new, nothing different. These new bands cant re create good music like this anymore. Guitars playing is one thing, production is a another. Goodbye to to the real talent!
Does anyone know if the beginning and end instrumental parts of this song are actually a classical piece? And if so what is it called? I seem to recall that this was part of a Beethoven symphony or some such. I'd like to hear more of that.
Eh ? Rush, Triumph, Steppenwolf, Alanis Morrisett, etc. made it big. Gene Simmons ? I liked KISS but talk about one big knucklehead, that would be Gene.
I agree somewhat,...Gene was an arrogant asshole. Those bands like Rush and Triumph got a lucky break,...Prism did not,...They played limited shows in the US but they never got their big break down there. It was record company political bullshit as far as I'm concerned. I could name a 100 Canadian Rock groups who never got a piece of the US market.
The music industry big ~ wigs still have their hands in the pickle jar nowadays. Even more so. Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Fallout Boy's, etc. Give me a freaking break. What is this, Disneyland ?
Morrisett did not make it in the 70's or 80's. Many very good bands were big in Canada but did not make it (or only a little) elsewhere, such as Streetheart, Trooper, Red Rider, April Wine, Chilliwack, and Prism, just to name a few.
I gotta challenge you on the lyrics for the lines about Jerry and Linda. It makes no sense, and doesn't sound like that.
And, am sure it says "Blackhouse" not black out. Although blackout would make sense as a metaphor/ Blackhouse is a metaphor in contrast to White House.
Explain your interpretation please. I'm no more sure I am right than you are wrong. I'd like to know. I play to my kids who think it's cool even though this is 2009 and I am in Houston.
Lyrics are correct. Jerry and Linda are referring to presidential hopeful Jerry Brown, California's governor at the time and his girlfriend Linda Ronstadt.
I Googled the lyrics to this song and it says "blackout". I think they used this word because during times of war, most cities would have all lights turned off so to make being bombed difficult...just sayin'
Full name, A-10 Thunderbolt II. Nicknames are "Warthog" or just "Hog." It was named after the P-47 Thunderbolt, which was a pretty effective World War II tank-buster.

The "Warthog" shown on this video, looks like an effective tool to complete a mission necessary. If the situation escalating, leaves no other choice.
A feeling of sorry remains, for the once who have to suffer.
They suffer, for the idiotie of power-horny despots. Despots that will not change, have to be fought, and brought to justice.

Kudos to Gene Simmons who said the best music talent in the world came from Canada in the 70s and 80s.
He said it's a shame these Canadian Groups never hit it big and he blames the Record companies for that!
acerman66 3 years ago
Eh ? Rush, Triumph, Steppenwolf, Alanis Morrisett, etc. made it big. Gene Simmons ? I liked KISS but talk about one big knucklehead, that would be Gene.
ReneeNme 3 years ago 2
I agree somewhat,...Gene was an arrogant asshole. Those bands like Rush and Triumph got a lucky break,...Prism did not,...They played limited shows in the US but they never got their big break down there. It was record company political bullshit as far as I'm concerned. I could name a 100 Canadian Rock groups who never got a piece of the US market.

The music industry big ~ wigs still have their hands in the pickle jar nowadays. Even more so. Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Fallout Boy's, etc. Give me a freaking break. What is this, Disneyland ?
ReneeNme 2 years ago
Morrisett did not make it in the 70's or 80's. Many very good bands were big in Canada but did not make it (or only a little) elsewhere, such as Streetheart, Trooper, Red Rider, April Wine, Chilliwack, and Prism, just to name a few.

Perhaps. I remember the American kids coming to Canada on exchange trips. Just mention Rush and they'd get erections en masse.

Who are Jerry and Linda?
GumbytheUnstoppabIe 3 years ago
Lyrics are correct. Jerry and Linda are referring to presidential hopeful Jerry Brown, California's governor at the time and his girlfriend Linda Ronstadt.

@Turnitloud
I Googled the lyrics to this song and it says "blackout". I think they used this word because during times of war, most cities would have all lights turned off so to make being bombed difficult...just sayin'

@Turnitloud Quite right. As the song is about Elvis messiah, with rock music being the message, it makes sense to have Linda in the Whitehouse.

Full name, A-10 Thunderbolt II. Nicknames are "Warthog" or just "Hog." It was named after the P-47 Thunderbolt, which was a pretty effective World War II tank-buster.
