  • @noel4x I have a tab by Ken Perlman. Go to our website and send a note to our e-mail address. I'll reply with the tab attached.

  • great job , I just love the sound of your gut string banjo on that old tune.

  • Great job - I love this old tune!! Thanks for posting.

  • @jedmarum Thanks for listening Jed!

  • As with your other videos...just wonderful!

I am just learning to play banjo...are you playing "Clawhammer" style?

  • @techman65 Thanks for your comments and message. I play this in a melodic clawhammer style.

  • One of the first tune I learned to play! Thank you for uploading this.

I might actually go back to playing..you've inspired me.

  • Simply beautiful. Will you be at UDM Days this year?

  • @pip2d Thank you for commenting. No, we reget to say that UDM Days didn't make it on the calendar this year. It's the best festival but it is also about 10 hours of solid road hours to get there. Maybe next year. All the best,

    Mac

  • Really nice! Taj Mahal has a mean version of this song, worth a listen!

I'm just getting into banjo, thanks for the shot of inspiration!

  • Taj Mahal 's version is a kick! Thanks for the message and comment. Keep on playing!

  • It is relaxing, thank you.

  • Thanks for commenting!

  • That's a real nice version of that tune, and the banjo sounds great. I second DEUTSCHLANDDUDE's comment below.

  • Ever hear the Holy Modal Rounders sing "Voodoo Queen Marie" to the melody of Colored Aristocracy? Great song.

It's on their "Alleged in Their Own Time" album.

  • I have heard that by Peter Stampfel's group called the Du-Tels. Thanks for the message.

  • Another excellent video from you guys.

Beautiful setting, and you look good playing your music.

I know I've heard Taj Mahal's version of this tune, but it's been so long, etc.

    Sounds great !

  • It will be a while before we can play outside again!! I like Taj Mahal's playing too - think he does it in an open D tuning.

Thanks for your message and comments.

  • Vous êtes trop mignon tout les deux. <3

  • I watch this video every day or so. I get the same charge out of it each time. This is just the neatest tune every played on the banjo. Thanks!

  • Thanks for watching, listening and commenting!!!

  • I really enjoyed this show, it was very nice, definitely I love the North American culture

  • Many thanks for your comments!!!

  • Spoken like a true Canadian. This is US culture, baby!

  • Wonderful performance of a great song. I believe you are tuned below standard? G tuning just stepped down a bit? Been having a good time playing along with all of your videos. Wish your wife was here to play along with me - all the guitar players I know are into rock music and don't have a clue about old time.

  • Thanks for the comment and message!! That's it - G tuning lowered to D for the old Washburn banjo. As you know, good rhythm guitar players for old time music are a special breed!

  • gut strings give it the rich tone, depth, warmth and a certain wholeness to the feel. do you also make these? Thanks for the video.

  • Thank you for the message and comments! The strings are store bought. I think sheep supply the raw material these days.

  • Wonderful Music Thanks

  • Thank you for commenting!!

  • Wow, I love the sound of the banjo on this tune, it seems to add so much to the melody.

It's also great to listen to this stuff while I'm studying American history in Sheffield, England - it brings your country alive!

  • Thanks for your message and comments!!

    Best,

    Mac

  • Yet another ketchy toon!!!

  • Thanks for that, it's a yaller dog good one as my friend from Kentucky would say!!

  • Whats his banjo tuned to? Sounds low.

  • Same string relationship as standard G tuning but lowered so the open strings produce a D instead of a G. It's my first venture into nylon/gut strings.

  • That sounded really good! Nice tune...never heard it before. I like it.

  • Thank you for the comments!!

  • this is what it's all about... : )

  • Thank you for the comment!!! It's one of my favorite tunes.

  • I have the original sheet music. It was issued two ways, I have the sheet issued as an advertisement for a store, black and white fancy black cakewalkers, and the better one is in full, vivid color, a regular printing from a music publishing company. Music is identical. Sheet music collectors like the full color edition, 11X14 inch item. It has a good monetary value. I have never heard it, even tho I have it, and thanks for giving me the opportunity to listen! Great!

  • Thanks for you comments and that history of the sheet music!!!

  • Great old tune and the strings do wonders for a neat old banjo. As you know, I`m entirely objective.....

  • I can't thank you enough for showing me the way to let a fine old banjo be heard again!!

  • Loved this!! Haven't heard the song before... great combination of banjo and guitar...

  • Thank you for the great comments!!

  • What a great tune.

  • Thanks Dick. It's one I've been working on for a long time. The Washburn brought it out.
