@irishboxer92 You don't double clutch on upshifts. Theres no reason to double clutch on downshifts on a car with syncros. You can just rev match on the downshift by blipping the throttle with the clutch depressed.
Is it Sapphire Blue? I'm own a 92 Sapphire Blue Twin Turbo Z32 and it's not as fast as yours but she's still fast enough to stomp gt500 ford mustangs all day. Great Z man.
@14JetCobra note the dual boost guages on the right of his dash, not stock, now you know its has been modified (Not to mention stock for that car is 0-60 round 6 sec, so if you can read the description, you wont have to post silly comments in the future).
@LackaLackaLacka Those arent boost gauges, the boost gauge is on the A-pillar. You can see it drop into vacuum between shifts, just as a boost gauge would...considering its manifold pressure, and when he lets off the throttle to shift (throttle plates closed) it'll build up vacuum in the plenum, then WOT and boost builds again.
@sjomada The stock gauge is read in kg/cm^3 not psi, it's normal for it to sit between 0-4 when driving (says Nissan). Though, they are known to die, low oil pres can also be caused by a dent in the sump.
i have a launch control switch that i have set at 4000 so the turbos dont kick in. if turbos kick in too fast wheels spin, car pulls left, and i have to shift into second at like 20 mph! lol
@StrongInChrist Ok, if you ask me that sounds retarded. For launch control you want the turbos to spool up before you launch that way your power is on the ground and you don't bog. If you spin, lower the rpm setting for that launch control, lower the boost, get some slicks, better suspension, or just learn how to feather the gas peddle. Something! And where did you get this switch witch keep the Turbos from "kicking in?"
@AdrenalineJunky17 The "switch" is the launch control like I said. Its set at 4000. The reason it keeps the turbos from "kicking in" is because they dont spool up until 4000 thus lauch control is stopping that. From what I hear my car is notorious for snapping the rear so I was advised not to get slicks or launch from high rpms with high boost. You are right on all fronts if I can verify my rear wont break but until then the 300zx is just not a drag car.
@StrongInChrist I understand man. My Camaro is the same kinda deal(with rear end and stuff). I have a street/drag set-up suspension but I still have a street rear-end and axle setup so I have to just use Drag radials and I spin to the 1/8th mile. I am putting down 500RWHP and I'm also afraid to use slicks on the stock rear end. I'm going to wait until I get a 12bolt rear end then get some slicks. And I'm sorry if I was rude. It just sounded weird to keep the turbos "from" spooling. You know?
@AdrenalineJunky17 lol no problem man. After I read my post again I realised how vague I was but thats how things come out on the old intranetz haha. The Z32 is definitely strongest in the top end (as you can see with 130mph at about 11 secs) so my next step is to beef up the horse power in general. After Im putting down a legitimate amount of hp I have to figure out what kind of rear to use. Gotta ways to go yet lol btw sweet camaro. 500rwhp aint nothin to mess with!
@StrongInChrist Yeah, i haven't decided on whether to build a custom 9inch or just get a 12 bolt. And yeah I get questions everywhere when I take it. The exhaust is dumped and with the 596-598 cam I'm running the whole car shakes at an idle. And with the 4.10 gears in the rear end I spin anywhere under 65mph on street tires if I get on it. Kinda sucks. But it's alot of fun! when I get some more money I'm going to get a good rear end and some slicks Then I'll just leave it alone and drive it! :D
@AdrenalineJunky17 haha thats gotta be sick. Im not sure if I want to continue building my z for the drag or more an auto cross setup. Right now its just fast. Whether it will be really fast will depend on what kind of fast Im looking for. If that makes any sense lol
@StrongInChrist From what i've told you it will probably surprise you but i'm more of an autocross person! I like having a car that I can use when driving down the road and in the twistys. Not just a straight line. STraight line is fun but turns are better if you ask me. It's more challenging. And I like challenges!
@AdrenalineJunky17 Agreed! Youre far more likely to get into the race of your life out on the road rather than under controlled conditions. I realize its not the safest place to drive fast but if you've practiced driving through turns at high speeds on the track then youre far safer on the road than some of these 350z cronies that cruize the streets at 90mph on their cell phones! Auto cross teaches total control of the machine. Me like that lol
@AdrenalineJunky17 Hey i just got a 91 TT and I am curious if anyone knows the best way to improve the latteral acceleration of the car besides wider tires and a stiffer suspension. Thanks
@chittchitt1 Weight reduction(strip it), weight distribution(balance), re-gear it, then it's pretty much just Wider tires and a drag suspension and how much motor you have.
Well, if you don't give a crap about hurting it (Your clutch, your driveline, your suspension, your engine) just bring up the revs to redline (with clutch engaged, while in 1st gear) and then pop the clutch......
Not a very good idea with a front wheel drive car (Harder on the car), and not very good on the car, either way...
Figured I'd at least answer instead of just making fun....although to be honest it's a pretty silly question.
Well everything puts "Wear and tear" on the car, but in terms of trying to "be nice" to your car while still burning rubber you're better off keeping it below redline if you can, while spinning your tires. Plus if you can do this without having your front end bouncing or hopping then you're doing a lot less damage to your car and clutch and suspension, and mostly to your tires. As for 4000, it depends on the car....
I don't think any cars redline at 4000, but V8's redline at lower rpms than 4 cylinders....Mine does it at 6500, but some Honda's and Mazdas can be brought up to around 8000 (Maybe more?). The trick is to break your tires loose at the lowest rpm possible and hold it around that RPM, the lower you can keep it, the less strees you'll put on your car.
so yeah you guys need to be schooled a bit. The guy knows how to drive, So sick run man, i plan to be well well into the deep 10's with my new setup on my 92 sentra se-r, my best before was 11.65@118mph on a bb t28 from an s15 at only 9psi. Now im on a t3t04 soon to be on a fully build sr20det done by myself and all tuning done by me. 28psi of boost baby. Great vid
thats pretty damn good for a sentra maybe a lil too good but i kno wat good driving can do i did 1.6 60ft and 7.6 in 1/8 mile with a stock z at 360hp and 385 tq with mickey thompson radials and i drove just like this guy maybe a lil harder. people dont kno shit about driving they probably didn't even know people can do that everybody thinks i have all kind of shit done to my car but they just dont know shit about cars or racing
then you obviously havent watched my 11.1@131.4 vid then, even shows the time for you you idiot.
Go do some research man cuz you have no clue what your even talking about and trust me my car has alot more left in it. I never said a word to you, never made any bad comments about the vid and only props so how bout you stop acting a fool and just back down not before you look really really stupid. Too late.
sick vid and nice shifting, these fools talking about redline clutch dumps obviously have no clue how to drag race, Thats how you launch on slicks dudes. You can hear the slicks slightly spinning in 1st gear, Thats exactly what you want them to do, Be spinning while grabbing hard as hell. hell if i can pull a 1.68 60ft with a crappy burnout on my nissan sentra on 22X8X15" slicks yeah i do the same, preload the drivetrain, tree goes down, pedal to the floor and dump, spins them while grabbing
Doing constant clutch drops with slicks and a upgraded clutch WILL kill the tranny, and put incredible amounts of stress on your whole drivetrain and mounts. Whether or not the tranny will take 1 pass or 100 passes, doing that will definately shorten the life of your drivetrain. Dumping the clutch on streets is nothing, its just pure spin, dumping the clutch on slicks is a totally different thing. Think about the torque your car is putting down in first gear at redline, and add slicks in.
then stop talking about racing or thinking about it if ur not gonna go all the way. say something the whole world dont already know no shit u just figured this out lol
clutch/transmission are designed to slip a certain amount, otherwise the shear force of inertia would call them catastrophic failure. Trust me bud, I work for a race team.....
who the fuck cares what clutch this is? i did burnouts all day for a month on a stock clutch in my s14 till it gave up. one pass at the track is nothing.
because some people make more power that what a stock clutch can handle. Just cause you can do some burnouts does not mean it can handle a 6k launch with slick on a car making in the 500hp range.
If this car was standard, that would have fried his clutch. A car doing mid 10sec passes 1/4 mile should have over 450-500hp. The clutch which is put into this car has an upgraded or even a twin plate clutch. Im not sure how much power the trans take on Z`s but if it needed changing, he would have put billet gears in the trans to handle the power..
dang. ive never driven a manual car b4 but dis guy dropped the clutch at a very high rpm. wuldnt dat fry the thing? or do performance clutches hav a better bite?
im not dumb...im inexperienced...i asked a question n YOU cant even giv me an answer. instead, u insult me. so tell me, whos really the dumb one here?
for all u retard youtubers, this is called launch control. And think using common sense u idiots, if this 300zx can do 0-60 in 3 seconds, its been tuned way the fuck out, meaning its MADE for shit like that.
dropping the clutch doesnt necessarily mean that u r gonna fry the trans, what happens is that, im pretty sure, im a little rusty, is that when u depress the clutch, ur bringing the fly wheel away from the trans, i think. and when u let go of the clutch the fly wheel hits the moving parts and that can cause the gears and shit to rip out, and posibly kill u. if im wrong somebody tell me, but im pretty sure thats how it goes.
yeah it definitely wont kill you.... thats just plain dramatic. but what it will do before anything, is chip the teeth off the flywheel and fuck up your drivetrain badly. dumping the clutch around 3000 rpms wont be too bad but if you're redlining it, you WILL end up frying your clutch and maybe even your trans. and there are no moving parts in the trans when the clutch is pushed in, the flywheel is what is doing the spinning because it is attatched to the motor, the trans isnt moving at all.
No, the teeth on a flywheel are for the starter, the face is the only part that touches the clutch disk. when clutches are done they either hop, slip or disintegrate on the flywheel, thats it. and dumping your clutch from redline typically makes very little difference at all. i've used full face, 5 and triple puck clutches in my Silvia and they never prematurely fail even with constant limiter clutch dumps ect. the 300zx transmission is twice as strong as mine, you wont break one on street tire
and if you didnt redline that at the start and started couple rpms lower you prob woulda got a better time.. those tires were spininnnnn i don care wut kinda slicks u got lol
Hey man, where did you get the pod for those two gauges on the dash? Awesome run btw!

yeah it definitely wont kill you.... thats just plain dramatic. but what it will do before anything, is chip the teeth off the flywheel and fuck up your drivetrain badly. dumping the clutch around 3000 rpms wont be too bad but if you're redlining it, you WILL end up frying your clutch and maybe even your trans. and there are no moving parts in the trans when the clutch is pushed in, the flywheel is what is doing the spinning because it is attatched to the motor, the trans isnt moving at all.

yeah.... your close but not quite

Ive got a question.. howd u manage to launch at 6k-7k rpms?
U have to have some sort of drag tires... right?

speed sensors are mounted at the end of the transmission, so the output shaft on it it moving, driving the rear wheels. Same for FWD cars

That's an FWD. Any FWD will spin all the time, cause there's no grip.
