  • Abuse apart cannot alter the quite obvious fact that poor ol Frankie was NOT a rock n roll

singer but did cover american pop/rock hits and made an awful version each time...he came

from the English variety tradition all straw boater and twirling cane...and should have stuck to

it . Sdaly he could'nt act either.

  • remember finding this 45 oin my parents collection when i was about 11 and layed it over and over again

  • Terrible. The worst version to be recorded ; he was an awful singer who should have stuck to

variety songs such as 'On mother kellys doorstep'.

  • @666cricket you're a poor quality human being

  • this was number one when my mother was born. amazing song

  • This was No1 when I was born :)

  • this is the version i remember as a kid. Sitting in my chair in the kitchen with my mother

  • Very nice version.

  • Great song - doesn't capture the depth of the Gene McDaniels original, but it is still a great pop beat

  • This was the first record I ever bought (seven inch vinyl) Happy memories. He was a great singer, an excellent stage performer and a really decent man.

  • @Crusader963 ooh, you are an oldie, i'm just a kid, my first single The Monkees "Daydream Believer" haha

  • frankie vaughan was brilliant if he had stayed in america he would be up there with sinatra but instead of giving monroe one he stuck with his wife and came home but he was still great my mum and norman from that era thought he was great and he was.

  • Frank was so under rated geat voice.

  • Frank was so under rated geat voice.

  • La verdad es que esta versión me encanta.

  • Sounds like a really shit Bond theme.

  • This is not the goth you're looking for.

  • A voice similar to Gene McDaniels. Frankie Vaughan, one of the MOST UNDERRATED British entertainers since I came to UK in the 60's!!! Great stage persona, great vocalist . . . . .AND. . .a fine family man who followed his religious principlesf both on-&-off stage. Really P/O'd me when the UK liberal media besmerched Mr Vaughan's character & principles when his son was in court over drugs. But that's typical of most of the media in UK AND USA, yeh, huh?? Thank you Wizard for uploading!!

  • i HAVE TEARS IN MY EYES LISTENING TO THIS MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS WE WILL NEVER SEE HIS LIKE AGAIN I DID MEET HIM ONCE WHEN HE WAS SIGNING RECORDS IN BRADFORD OH BOY I WILL NEVER FORGET I WALKED ON AIR FOR WEKS AFTERWARDS YOU WERE GREAT MATE LOVE YOU

  • fantastic my friend, thanks, memories of my youth.

  • I went to school with Frankie Vaughns grandson Jamie Marks in Warrington not far from where frankie lived in Liverpool! x

  • i preffer version of AC, it´s most funny and nice

  • no, you're right, burnley, if you can't do a cover much better than the original, don't bother trying. Gene's version was better.

  • @neilpk70 Frankie's cover was a big hit in the UK, Genes version wasn't, thats how it was back then , Uk radio also favored a British cover.

  • ty wizard for adding this song its superb..i do this on karaoke and people say its there fave song dont know why..but i do like doing it..but i need a few pints first

  • Got to love this.

  • This was number one in the UK the day I was born - my claim to fame LOL.

  • A.C. = Adriano Celentano

  • Canzone bellissima.

Ma A.C. è proprio una merda ci ha preso in giro per tanti anni...

  • bitchin

  • fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck yeah..................

  • Wonderful!

  • Corny, cheezy. Doesn't have the class that the original has by Gene McDaniels.

  • @wildetaube It has just as much class

  • @burnley5960 I love many UK artists (Billy Fury, Cliff Richard, Crispian St. Peters), but it's hard to top Gene McDaniel's version, dude. This version just doesn't have the "strength". (Only my humble opinion...)

  • @wildetaube I dont think there i sa lot between them only my opinion

  • @wildetaube Absolutely. Weak as water by comparison, like most UK cover versions.

  • watch also Adriano Celentano - Stai lontana da me.

  • Nice song. However i was with the angels in heaven when this song came out... I wasn't even born, LOL :D

  • @belinhabrusa My parents weren't even born yet :)

  • Gracias. He estado buscando esta cancion más de 30 años.

    Saludos.

    Salvador

  • I LOVE this version! Thanks to hrpman for sharing and to Thewizard22uk for posting it!!

  • Does anyone know where I can find sheet music to this song? I've looked everywhere.

  • The one and only Frankie! I met him in Edinburgh in 1979. He was a gentleman through and through. RIP Frankie, we miss you.

  • my first record

  • RIP Mr Vaughan. I met him once and was rewarded with a kiss, what a true gent he was. He also took the time to write to me and my mum,

  • I still have the original vinyl 45 single of this song, I played it to death when I was little cos the power of his vocals blew me away even though I was only a kid. Thanks for posting it, my old single is worn out!

  • @mysticmissus i had the same single when i was young, its still a great song.

  • Frank's grandfather left his wife in Liverpool and emigrated to America. He didn't entirely disappear because discovered late in his life that his grandfather had married again in the USA and had a grandson, Neil Diamond. In certain pictures of Frank the likeness is very clear.

  • Nearly 50 years since first heard it. Loved it then, love it now. Thanks for posting.

  • POWERFUL!

  • Fantastic

  • Great tune - thx!

  • Frankie was a towering Star

  • Frankie was wonderful a real star

  • There is a film clip of Frankie somewhere when he was very young really giving it some on stage..he made the young Mick Jagger look geriatric!!!! And that takes some doing!

  • I remember having this song on a cassette of the greatest song of the 60's when i was really young- for some reason, i thought it was the most dramatic song i'd ever heard! Brilliant stuff, thanks for posting it :)

  • Frankie was my mum's pop idol. She always used to buy the latest hit on 78 rpm. This is my favourite of his.

  • Just asking myself if exist this song here.. and there he is.. beautiful song, good singer. Rest in peace..
