Why go 80% why not just got the other 20% and have done with it, is it an engine issue as to why this is not the case, there is even a 90% on here, is it a copy right issue not to go 100%
I observed the exhaust system during construction. The plumbing is rather convoluted and intended to direct the outflow of each cylinder to the visible exhaust stubs.
These are outlets on collectors down both sides of the aircraft to render as faithfully as possible from a six cylinder engine, the sound of one with twelve cylinders. He did very well I think.
Ya know if you could gear down a bigger 3-blade prop to the Franklin motor it would be very close in scale noise. The Franklins exhaust system makes it sound pretty close to a Merlin, however the noisy prop just makes it sound like a Bonanza or Cessna 210!!
This aircraft is now in the UK and will be on display at Perth (Scone) airport, Scotland as part of their open day on 21 June 2008. Look-up Scottish aeroclub website for directions.

Cost is generally the biggest determining factor.
