it's funny how people see a supra beating a vette or a viper or even a ferarri and they think supra's are the fastest cars on the planet, forgetting the fact that they were modded to hell. guess this supra didn't have the amount of boost needed to take the V10. Both are awesome cars by the way.

@Tboninator thats a good point. Most vids I've seen with supras, the supra was modded like crazy. Often times going up against a much lighter modified car or stock.. I guess that takes away the rep for the supra as a great "stock" performer and builds it up more as a great tuner car.
Don't get me wrong, there are some wicked Supras out there, but to be perfectly honest, stock, they're not all that great- just below that of a stock Camaro SS/Trans Am WS6.
No, not too bad, but that's only the American version of the twin turbo that makes that much power. The Japanese TT made less than that, and even then that 320 horsepower was after the turbo spools up, so... I would much rather have an N/A V8 Camaro that makes that much horsepower than a TT I6 Supra. :S

And you're probably right, a d16 would probably be easier to replace. The problem is that not only do you have to open the engine up and replace stuff to give it some good power, but if you have to get another engine, you'll have to do it again. Me, I like to work with what it already has.

it's funny how people see a supra beating a vette or a viper or even a ferarri and they think supra's are the fastest cars on the planet, forgetting the fact that they were modded to hell. guess this supra didn't have the amount of boost needed to take the V10. Both are awesome cars by the way.

first race i have seen where the supra lost. It killed a cobra, lamborgini, porshe hell everything. I guess the viper is pretty bad ass too. Either that or the traffic fucked up the driving

@Tboninator thats a good point. Most vids I've seen with supras, the supra was modded like crazy. Often times going up against a much lighter modified car or stock.. I guess that takes away the rep for the supra as a great "stock" performer and builds it up more as a great tuner car.

No, not too bad, but that's only the American version of the twin turbo that makes that much power. The Japanese TT made less than that, and even then that 320 horsepower was after the turbo spools up, so... I would much rather have an N/A V8 Camaro that makes that much horsepower than a TT I6 Supra. :S

You can easily find blocks for d16 motors in the junkyard in good shape for dirt cheap prices. your not going to do that with a b16 motor etc. Keep on trying to prove d16 motors suck dude. your not going to get anywhere let alone win the argument. @pier456 Dude, if you took the time to engineer a motor to spin at 9000 rpm, you too could make a bunch of horsepower out of a small motor. In fact, if you took a larger motor and spun it at the same speed, you could make even more power, and probably have some torque so you can drive on the street and carry some groceries, and god forbid a passenger and still be able to take off under 4000 rpm.

4. The instant "Fast and Furious" knock-off look at millions of kids sport today.
I know about D-series builds by the way. Unless you're dropping some serious cash into it, it's limited to about 220 hp. Even then you're walking a fine line.

That's obvious they're the stock engines for civics; if they came with a B-series like the Integra, or an H series like the Prelude, you wouldn't need to swap out the engine. 2. They're daily driven because they're ECONOMIC engines. They run just fine(in fact, very well) when left alone. It's when you start F-ing with them that it gets dangerous.

HTe main things you need to ugprade are teh connection rods get some vitara pistons with some arp head studs a nice tune and a decent turbo you will be seeing 400whp if not more running around mid low 20s psi of boost. Not even full built. You need to actually look up some vitara builds etc. dude before you open your mouth like a dumbass prick.

Think about it, would you swap out your engine for another one if you could reliably make the same power? Chances are you wouldn't. The fact is that even other honda fanboys know they'll have it easier by just getting another engine. You can make more power out of any engine; the difference is at what cost does it come.

@pier456 Given that turbo charging usually costs about 5 grand for a reliable tune and that you have to replace internal parts in D series engines, I'd take a wild guess and say they were one-shot engines.

Their not one shot motors. You don't need a fully built d16 motor really the only parts upgraded are the rods, pistons with some arp head studs nice tune and decent turbo. Even on stock sleeves d16 made over 500whp on stock sleeves dude. 5 grand for a turbo? Dude seriously what are you looking at?

I'm looking at the turbo(a new one), piping, intercooler, oil rerouting, upgraded fuel injectors, fuel pump, possibly a fuel rail, low compression pistons if your engine has an already high compression, new or flashed ecu, dyno time, etc. I know I'm forgetting something here

@pier456 *sighs* Or you can grab a VG30, 13B, EJ20-22-25, BP-T, 4G63, and a couple of other engines I can't recall and run 20 psi with just a tune and proper support systems(and perhaps a head gasket).
The point I'm trying to make is that while you can make that amount of power with a D series, it generally takes a lot more time, energy, and money to make it practical to the average builder when you compare it to other engines. If anything, they should be considered a special build.

@pier456 Dude, I've researched just about every honda engine you can name, plus I have experience with guys that build honda engines(B and D series) and race them. I've beaten over 25 different honda civics and accords(where my name comes from by the way), with more than a couple sporting built up d series engines(granted they weren't turbocharged).
And what exactly what have I said that's been proven wrong? You can't build up other engines better than D's? They don't switch out engines?

I agree, you don't need that much power especially if you're doing much of your driving on the street.
And you're probably right, a d16 would probably be easier to replace. The problem is that not only do you have to open the engine up and replace stuff to give it some good power, but if you have to get another engine, you'll have to do it again. Me, I like to work with what it already has.

People think d16s are crap and swap in b16s and think they awesome getting high 14s in the 14 mile with a b16 hatch, Their is a video of a guy with a d16z6 or y8 with i/h/e running a 14.7 1/4 mile... A basic bolt on d16 motor got 14s without a swap. SO basically oen guy spend over a grand for a b16 swap o run 14sa while another guy just added some bolt on parts and got 14s.

There is a lot of street racing going on in dangerous places...I am an older guy who loves fast cars, but we really need to think about getting better access to race tracks for cars like this...too many "civilians" are getting caught up in street racing crashes and killed....and if you drive into a family in a minivan doing this shit it's a manslaughter charge....plus you gotta' live with it for the rest of your life...

No your wrong. Most vipers you see on videos like this aren't modded cause they don't need to be. Plus Vipers can take a turn faster than any production car out there. Not to mention they're just plain fast period. They run with the best cars out there yet they're only under $100,000.
