okay i will explain the mark on Neji's head the mark is put on the branch family in his clan,since his dad's brother was older he is the head family

while neji's dad is apart of the branch family and protects the head family.hinata dosen't have the mark becuase she's the heir to the head family.while neji is suppose to protect the family and it's secrects.that's what's the marks real purpose is for. some members of the head family use the mark to hurt there brains by doing a simple hand sign.
