It's rather goofy that the animated guitarist wails away in the background while the lead singer struts wildly like Roger Daltrey, clapping his hands when Classical Gas is played very slowly for the first minute. At least they didn't have the bassist or drummer going, else it would of just been ridiculous.

Some time ago, I spent what felt like eternity learning this song on guitar. Its easy now but this makes it seem much more difficult seeing it all laid out. Guitar Hero vs Guitar is not an argument. Its a game. Nobody who plays GH thinks they can actually play guitar. Its a game. On the vid, couldnt you have used the orchestral version? Its sooo much prettier.

For me these games have been valuable teaching tools. They teach rhythym, pitch, the concept of "muscle memory" and make the basic concepts of music accessible. Far better than a book and a guitar. I bought a real guitar about a month ago and while I totally suck at it I know with practice I will get it. The basics are starting to come together for me and I can actually play 1 song that I would not be ashamed to show friends! :)

No...................... guitar hero is not better than a real guitar and a book for learning.

It's good, no it's great! for awkward chord changes, stretches, faster more coordinated fingers though for real guitar. And for timing, alternate strumming hammerons pulloffs etc.etc but it will only prepare you for a portion of what a real guitar has to offer.

I have to thank guitar hero for that at least. and It got me into real guitar. But GH isn't going to get you laid

Kingpin - I agree about the laid part. Wood and wood gets laid :) Playing an instrument does get the chicks.  Even if you don't play that well I guess it has a "cool" factor.

You are spot on in your reply. GH/RB IS a tool and not a replacement for practice and sweat....

When I play something right on my guitar it is far more satisfying than RB!!! But RB helped me get some of my music skills down.

it's like when I first played guitar hero at a friend's house and he was talking shit because I sucked at it even though I play real guitar. yes, I play REAL guitar, not a 5-button piece of plastic. it baffles me that anybody thinks playing an instrument with six strings and many frets per string should somehow translate into being good at pushing buttons as they appear on screen. the GH guitar isn't even as complex as a normal playstation or xbox controller, let alone a real instrument.

I guess basically what I'm saying is that the two activities require completely different skillsets that don't overlap in any way at all, and it's downright idiotic to think there's a comparison to be made beyond "music is playing in both instances". Guitar Hero is nothing more than a glorified PaRappa the Rapper with a plastic guitar that has less buttons. I find this debate to be ridiculous both as a real guitar player and a real gamer (that's right I said it).

@twinklewonderkid91 i see what you mean, when the piece gets to the A section it has that triplet, on the guitar it is between the index finger and open string, but here it is ring finger and pinky (bad combination) so in some ways yes and some ways no, thats how this game is

I just think guitar hero has a tendency to either vastly under or over estimate the difficulty of songs. I can play Satch Boogie to but the guitar hero version just completely messes me up. From talking to people I've just tended to find that guitarist aren't brilliant at guitar hero.

I'm an old person/musician who grew up with that song on the radio. My kids now play guitar hero and rock band. Having tried my hand at both I have to say that you did AWESOME on hitting all that. Great job on getting the dubbed-over music to go with your great job on the game.
