  • I remember this when first on the telly. I even spoke to Mick, (from the real group!) shortly after, and he was chuffed. I can't recall exactly, but he said something along the lines of even a skit is a tribute.

  • Yes it's Mr Holand

  • Yes

  • Was the first one on the left Jeffrey Holland (Spike in Hi-De -Hi)?

  • I remember the words to some of this believe it or not! Does anyone have Russ Abbot's Scottish Madhouse Christmas from back then? I would love to find it again. I am American and was with my ex who was stationed in England. I am back in the States now, but I sure would like to find that Xmas show.

  • There was another parody of th Spinners I saw, many years ago. They were singing the tune to 'Little Boxes' but with altered lyrics. One line just stuck in my brain:

    "First I sing one,"

    "Then I sing one,"

"Then I sing a Caribbean one!"

"And we all just go on singing, go on singing just the same!"

Could that have been Russ Abbot? Anyone know?

  • @Mojosbigstick "and I play this"

    "and I play this"

"and I get to have a blow on this"

"and I do all the singing, 'cause I can't play anything"

    Yes, it was Russ Abbott.

  • @Mojosbigstick it's on here as 'The Spanners - We're A Folk Group'
