Very nice touch to include BOTH New Ways and Train Train. I always considered them two parts of a whole and never listened to them in any other way but together.
Perhaps the most brilliant rock album ever recorded and, sadly enough, th most underrated. Critics don't realize JB laid down the blue print for the Zeppelin sound.
AWESOME lead in to my favourite tune from the recording: "jody. , I hate to use the overused word, but the entirety of "rough and ready" isTIMELESS! Sheer fuckin' Magick! ;o)
This album is absolutley bar none (still have it and play it)....what Beck could produce on a guitar can rival anyone else. Thanks for keeping the sound alive.
Thanks and I agree. This album is way overlooked. Check out my favorites on my you-tube channel. I just found some vids of this line-up that will blow your mind. Just look for the vids with the deep blue screen background. There are vids from this album and the previous one. Every vid is a gem. "Going Down", "Got The Feeling" and "Definitely Maybe" to name a few. Not to be missed and share them with your daughters!
Funny how this album was dismissed at the time,I always thought there was some great stuff on it,especially this/these tracks.Superb guitar on Train Train.Didn't JB help to produce it?
This album is my favorite of Beck's, along with Guitar Shop. I love the lead guitar work on this tune, especially the funky breaks at 2:22 at 5:10! Bought this album when it first came out. Underrated!
The Jeff Back Group V2 is totally under-rated.. interesting how Beck went for jazz & soul influences while Clapton went for blues, Townshend went into electronica & rock operas & Page got into for hard rock.. like every top guitarist had their own approach.
So, is that an album cover at 1:21-1:40? I've never seen that record before. The video here on youtube of Jeff with UPP in 1974 is just sick... I want this record. If someone knows about it, please let me know.
So, Rickyon... where did you get that photo? What do you know??? Thanks.
Is that a new account or are you a newbie to You-tube? If it's the latter welcome aboard. When you say you want this record are you referring to the UPP cover at 1:21 or do you mean the one that this song is from? If it's the 1973 UPP album just google upp jeff beck band and the first result is a link (2 parts) to a file for that album. Hope that helps. You're pretty hip for a 108 year old person!...Rick
These guys:Beck, Tench, Powell,Middleton, and Chaman, were so tight by the time they did this second album, "Rough and Ready," it didn't surprise me that the loner, impulsive genius of Jeff Beck would not allow him the time to stick around to do a third
331/3.
Each and every song on this album is a pure delight, with each musician at his best!
Saw This Exact LINEUP At CARNEGIE HALL,N.Y. way BACK when ..should have been there .....it was a "TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN..........................ROLLIN HIGH.
I may post another song or two. I was thinking about "Situation" and maybe another but I have so many songs that I want to post and I try to switch it up a little here and there (except for the Kansas!). Any particular song from that album?
Omigosh! Thanks for putting this up, Rickyon. I first heard this on what used to be our local hard rock station some 20 odd years ago--part of their weekday "Psychedelic Supper" segment that aired in the afternoon. Thanks again. Great job with the photos, too!
Why this album didn't sell as much or more that the first two is beyond me. I think it's actually better than the first two. Sorry Rod.

2:25 to 3:10 - classic Beck. Economical, yet effective.

This was, by far, the best Jeff Beck arrangement.
It was a travesty that this group never got the accolades that they right deserved.
Both of their albums were standouts. Absolute gems.

My all time favorite Jeff Beck song. Played it into the ground back in the day, and still have it on CD. Great band, recording - excellent!
