god you'd think by now sitcoms would move away from these cheesy cameos. actually you'd think by now most sitcom style humour would be gone. nothing against eddie though
@timmy47 NO actually I think its become something artists want to do which is to appear on two and half men at least back in the day. How many famous musicians would say yes to this invitation? FAns enjoy seeing artists in a different light. Eddie needed to do something like this and his classic grin at the end says it all.
@sonicoclv55 this scene was cheesy and lame. i'm sure artists would not turn something like this down, but what i'm saying is....well...it's cheesy and lame and i would think we would have gone away from that style of sitcom writing. it just seems forced.
@bobwogan I read an article one time that interviewed Eddie. He said that he always had his guitar with him through high school...that's how dedicated this guy was with his passion of music. This episode is a classic.
@DisturbedBitBox NO!....the earth will shatter because of the heavenly perfection of His tone. He uses a black hole as His noise gate and 10,000 suns for His overdrive. Man...now my rig seems so simple.
F'ing Eddie Van Halen!!!, that guy is the MAN, he has an incredible style and sound on the guitar that is unmatched, even by these so called virtuoso guitarists that do these Arpeggios and Sweeping techniques that get boring after about 2 minutes, this guy can keep you interested because he INVENTED this shit.... Rock on Eddie
@MikeyG32682 I beg to differ, Eddie is a creative master at guitar, but you have to think about other guitarists before him and after him. Such as, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Ed King, BB King, Kurt Cobian, Jack White and many other great guitarists that served as an inspration to him and others that look up to him now and make modern music. Some may be virtuoso, I dont really know but I do know that Eddie Van Halen is ONE of the greatest guitarists of all time!!
@MrTheking19951 Kurt Cobain and Jack White? Cobain nearly killed creative guitar playing with the shit he did in the 90's and I haven't heard a solo by Jack White that even makes me feel inspired to pick up my axe...
@MikeyG32682 Steve Vai fucks on EVH all day everyday, no problem. However, I'd more likely listen to a Van Halen song before Steve Vai song. Plus EVH is only like 4 years older than Vai.
@XxBlindedGuitaristxX - I love Steve Vai's playing and have all of his material. When you get to that level of playing skill, it comes down to personal preference. If I was stuck on an island and had to pick one guitarist to jam with, it would be EVH. Plus, Eddie's an incredible song writer. The cool thing about guitarists is that they all have a unique sound, and each bring something interesting to the table. Vai, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert, Satch, George Lynch. ALL GREAT
@MikeyG32682 I agree with U on the part ( Eddy is incredible ) but these other guys r also incredible, they may not b your thing, but people like Yngwie Malmsteen r still very inventive & talented, they are just different, Joe Satriani is actually one of the first documented tappers, and he actually gave Kirk Hammett-Steve Vai lessons, kirk is considered one of the best solo guitar players in the world, joe came up with his own style, & jeff beck was tapping well before halen left bar rock scene
@UKToneKing I agree and love all of the players you mentioned. Please see my reply below to someone else who brought up Vai ( who happens to be one of my favs ). Yngwie is great and no one plays like him ( and is great live by the way, I saw him a few years ago ) You are talking to probably the biggest Metallica fan on the planet so I won't even get started with Kirk Hammet. Satch and Vai are obviously very good and Jeff Beck is great, I love his picking style and his use of the tremelo.
@UKToneKing I am not trying to hate on other guitarists with my original post, yet express my love and respect for EVH. Every guitarist brings something interesting and different to the instrument, that's why it's so cool. Like I said before, Vai, Satch, Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Tony MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore, George Lynch, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Yngwie.... I could go on and on. All Different, All Great!!!
i dont like tabs cause to me its just a bunch of numbers on a page, each guy to his own, but i like to figure songs out my own way not how somone else plays it
@swans1997 Seriously, your a moron and thats probably why you think your better than you actually are. If you actually think Orchestras, composers and serious bands dont use any form of sheet music then you are a total dumb ass.
@MrMcConnon oh cool your jets, I was just making light on tabs, Tabs aren't always a reliable source on how to play the tune. They're usually written by by people who may or may not have the correct notation down. I prefer to play by ear anyway, or watch what he's doing on the clip. Most rock guitarists hardly know how to read a note ayway. DIY For that little insult, may you get fucked to death by some death metal demon wearing a a spiked cock ring you buttrocker pussy.
@swans1997 dude keep your fantasies about satan rading your underpants to yourself, no one wants to know that you want to suck on satans throbbing purple magic wand...
@MrMcConnon Ha Ha B for effort, must try harder, but, you haven't got me sold on your sheetmusic/tabs argument. Sheetmusic "the ones used by orchestras" usually come from a more reliable source. Whereas "tabs" invariably won't.
@swans1997 To be fair I'm a drummer I'm not much of a guitarist, I'm a drummer, I play guitar as a second hobby i guess, with some whole songs I need some kind of sheet formed reference just to see if I'm on the right track, some of it may be wrong but that's half the fun of playing. But it's still music written on paper so hence 'sheet music'. Even though it's in laymens terms, someone still wrote it down to read as they play.
@MrMcConnon Nah, I'm not into that who's better crap and comparing guitar players. I'm more into originality, and imagination regardless of how long someone has been playing. I don't claim to be a maestro either. I used to sit for hours with the turntable learning stuff, and invariably would come up with some kind of twist on the original or something new. Tabs are useful, but I still preferred my ears.
@swans1997 Im not saying who is better, Im saying who is a good musician, for example, you cant put Jimi Hendrix and John Patrucci together and try and pick out who's better, cuz they have their own styles. But I do know good musicians when I hear them, but as for tabs, yeau using your ears helps obviously but you can't absorb absolutely everything from what you hear, that's why I use tabs... they can show whats missing, and my theory is dont cover music if ur trying to adapt.
@MrMcConnon My argument for tabs , is people who write them out, will be invariably wrong. I don't find them that reliable any more than using your ear. They can give you a good idea of where to start, but they're not neccessarily correct. I don't think you are absorbing the correct method by using tabs either. They're largely guess work, just like using your ear, in my opinion. Unless, they are from the source, everybody else is iffy.
@MrMcConnon Ha Ha, you're too trusting. I don't trust anybody's opinions on how a tune was composed or written, unless it's proven by the source. Tabs are tabs, an OPINION. So, I think my ears are just as credible, as someone's "tabs". That's why I refer to them as "cheat sheets". They may seem credible, just because it's some piece of music written down, and I say use your ears, because it's likely the "tabber" was doing the same thing?
@swans1997 That's the thing, I dont use tabs that often, but when I do I try to get the more reliable tabs, but if its just a nudge in the right direction then I'll take it, but yes, from the source is preferable. However when using say a crap tab, you can tell its accuracy by ear anyway, and if so, search for another. Again, I play the guitar for fun, Im not that much of a perfectionist lol
@MrMcConnon Sure, tabs are a start but not reliable. Not a perfectionist either, I never bothered to learn a complete tune, note for note, how boring.
This was stupid.
