Is it really possible to dislike this? What did 18 people not like about this? I don't like that I haven't seen him live or that I will never play like this... ever. That's it.
Dykes is a 10 out of 10 in style, musicality, talent and 1 more thing.....physicality. His playing proves how to be the best you have to have hand/eye coordination also.....just like any good athlete is in their sport. He really adds a certain dimension to guitar playing.
I saw him an hour ago at Longview Metro Church in East Texas, this man truly has the hand of god on his life! I'm gonna try to upload some of his performance tonight!

@acr08807 what guitars do you prefer that you think Taylor's are crap? i've played several of the best guitars and i keep coming back to Taylor's as my favorite for tone and playability. just curious.
@acr08807 i've been playing music semi-professionally for the last 15 years and yeah, i've owned Washburns, Epiphones, Fenders, Ibanez, and several other acoustics. i currently am playing a Yamaha acoustic electric i like very much but my most favorite acoustics have been my 614ce and my 354ce. i've played Breedloves, Martins and several others. the Washburns don't hold a candle in my opinion to the Taylors or Martins. i even like my Yamaha better.(FJX730SC) It is a solid top.
@elwoodbluz69 Well, you're certainly playing a fine axe now. Anyway, I think Dykes could make a guitar made from used chewing gum and strung with twine sound pretty good.
@acr08807 I've played through several brands of guitars, including Washburn, Ibanez, Taylor, Martin, Breedlove, Gibson, Epiphone and a few others. most of them sound good but the solid top guitars sound the best, Taylor being my favorite followed by Martins. i've been playing semi-professionally for the last 15 years. my current stage guitar is a Yamaha FJX730sc. i like the tone and the playability very much. In my honest opinion the Washburn acoustics weren't even close.
Never seen Doyle live, but have seen one or two of his instructional vids released in the UK with Guitarist mag. I will never be as good as this guy, if I live to be a million. But I adore his style. Chet admired him, that should be enough for anybody. Yes, TE is brilliant as well - and there is room in the world for TE, Doyle, and a few others. I love Doyle's worh with Taylor as well - I am a Taylor owner - I've got the prototype 414CE and it's a lovely instrument

One of the best, hands down.
I'm a computer idiot.I've been using u tube and watching all the greats from rock to rockabilly to country.i'm getting much better and faster than ever thanks to all the musicians posting all this great stuff!
do you realise how ridiculous you sound,,"he never learned" yet "he taught himself" , its doesnt matter what way you learn to play any instrument as long as you can ACTUALLY PLAY IT!!!! thats like saying , leonardo da vinci never learned how to paint,, he taught himself, its the type of thing only an idiot would say, if you think jimi hendrix didnt know any chord then have a look at some of his tabs, youll find some chords in there
i said he "taught himself what sounds good", which is different, and jimi hendrix didn't tab his songs other people tab them based on what they think sounds right, not based on what he actually played. and since every note is representative of a chord, of course there would be people that interpret it that way, but that doesn't mean he played the chord
your still missing the point,he could play the music,he also played live covers through the years, they would have had chords in them,i understand the point your trying to make but your still wrong,it doesnt matter how much chord names or theory you do or dont know, ,the whole point of theory is an aid to help actually playing the music. If you can make the sound from an instrument that you want, or play a song that somebody else OR you wrote, well then you have achived the goal of playing music.
if in your opinion you dont like Jimi Hendrix playing style or material fair enough, to say that he literally cannot play is a statement that im very surprised that you would even try to defend.
i actually do like some of his material, and didn't say he "literally cannot play" because there are videos and recordings of him playing. all i'm saying is he didn't have any training in traditional guitar styles, and i wasn't saying it to put him down i was just sharing a little fact. also, he was a dumbass for shooting heroin into his forehead and dying
CONGRATULATIONS, you left THE BAD BOY LATINO PROJECT in time. THE ESTEFAN FAMILY JUST TRIED TO ABUSE HIS NAME FOR THEIR MONEY LAUNDERING. Despite the allegation in my blog, no one of more than thousand HOLLAND AND KNIGHT LAWYERS was allowed to file lawsuit against me. Not even the super-lawyers Michael Sikora and J. Hernandez-Toraño. 1st because Im right with my allegation, and 2nd because they are as ridiculous, as MR F. AMADEO is. Details see dalva-d.blogspot

jimi was actually a terrible guitarist... he literally knew nothing about playing, not even one chord
trazzberry 2 years ago
You think Jimi Hendrix didnt know even a single chord??
deanjdk 2 years ago
he didn't he never learned how to play he taught himself what sounded good by locking himself in a room for 6 hours straight

do you realise how ridiculous you sound,,"he never learned" yet "he taught himself" , its doesnt matter what way you learn to play any instrument as long as you can ACTUALLY PLAY IT!!!! thats like saying , leonardo da vinci never learned how to paint,, he taught himself, its the type of thing only an idiot would say, if you think jimi hendrix didnt know any chord then have a look at some of his tabs, youll find some chords in there
deanjdk 2 years ago
i said he "taught himself what sounds good", which is different, and jimi hendrix didn't tab his songs other people tab them based on what they think sounds right, not based on what he actually played. and since every note is representative of a chord, of course there would be people that interpret it that way, but that doesn't mean he played the chord

your still missing the point,he could play the music,he also played live covers through the years, they would have had chords in them,i understand the point your trying to make but your still wrong,it doesnt matter how much chord names or theory you do or dont know, ,the whole point of theory is an aid to help actually playing the music. If you can make the sound from an instrument that you want, or play a song that somebody else OR you wrote, well then you have achived the goal of playing music.

he knows what sounds good, but he's really not that good he messes up a lot and really his songs are pretty easy

if in your opinion you dont like Jimi Hendrix playing style or material fair enough, to say that he literally cannot play is a statement that im very surprised that you would even try to defend.
deanjdk 2 years ago
i actually do like some of his material, and didn't say he "literally cannot play" because there are videos and recordings of him playing. all i'm saying is he didn't have any training in traditional guitar styles, and i wasn't saying it to put him down i was just sharing a little fact. also, he was a dumbass for shooting heroin into his forehead and dying

I just came from seeing this awesome guitar player. WOW! I was in awe. There just aren't words for his playing except WOW!

CONGRATULATIONS TO P. DIDDY
