Better described by the artist and his whole of a subcrew at this time i'm quite certain - idealy yet not quite cleverly put spontanity being, breaking into the soundscapes for more veracity!
These bands / internet guys really go for Meshuggah's sound. What I also notice is that they're also heavily inspired by their artwork, lyrics, and concepts. Certainly none if them are as dark or as twisted. I give some credit to a band like Coprofago; they've been doing this, what some people reputedly refer to as "djent", for awhile now. They went for that classic Destroy Erase Improve sound. No matter how good you are, you'll never be on the same level as Meshuggah. That band is evil.
@Mzral The last two sentences are an obvious fact. Really, the best thing ANY musician can do, is the play to the best of THEIR OWN ability, and achieve one's OWN sound. :)
@thiago88smart This song is from imperium vorago which came out in 2005, so even if bulb project is pretty old, i think periphery got influence on him;)
I recommend paying for all of this dudes stuff. CS is pure kickass, and I hope he does something with himself or has children to... make more of it. MOAR.

@CloggedLacrimalGland .. Well at this time there are two Discs available for download or regular mailorder .. check out the iTunes store or Chimpy's homepage for the appropriate links. --> (2005) IMPERIUM VORAGO & (2010) AT THE DREAM'S EDGE are the names ^^
@vikingwizardeyes2121 i think you might be right, DT's been so influent to most of the metalers since a couple of years and certainly Chimp spanner was among them too.
After reading about him on Sevenstring. org I finally listened just now. Holy shit!!! What have I been missing!!!! Im so glad there is music like this still coming out. Even if they dont sell a million albums they know they are great and I know they are. Keep on pumping out the amazing music Chimp!!!!
How about we look at how it works. Record companies find it profitable to market tasteless pop music to a younger audience between 7 and 10. Kids at that age nag and beg their parents to buy the CD. Therefore, Bieber can bring money in for the company. Metal bands especially will just be downloaded illegally by an older, more mature audience. The only money to be made in decent music is through hosting events or touring. Bieber therefore will get the views. That's how media works guys.
@iplaywithnoshoes I with I could pay for an album, but man, in my country any album costs $20, and music stores won't bring any recent albums. It kinda sucks.
I have never enjoyed being wrong this much before. I think this vid had like 12,000 views when I first commented. It's good to see there are a bunch of people out there who still love great music!
LOL. Everyone keeps saying music is dying, but it really isn't. Some incredibly innovative and unique music keeps poring out and tbh there seems to be more of it than ever before. So many bands i can barely keep up with it all.
Just because you see Bieber everywhere doesn't mean it's influence will kill off good music.
@jockerboofer I hate it when people say they get a boner over music. How the fuck can sounds give you a boner? What do you do jerk off when you hear good music? I could see if you were girl who has a crush on the musician but, a boner for a male composer? It just doesn't make any fucking sense unless you're really gay.
@FeldbergThePlayer I don't know. I guess some people get wood when they hear bad ass shit. Personally I like the kid jockerboofer for his comprehension of great music. Sorry i'm an asshead. I just don't get the boner part.

@saifseven that's an optimistic and quite imaginable way of looking at the developments in music business that are yet to come...but as past has shown it doesn't seem as you're going to be proven right...
@ffdff im only 31, so i haven't been around long enough to know if good music is in danger! but i must admit your right! popular music is spreading like crazy! and its dropping in substance yet it seems to be shinier and more seductive to the average listener! but have no fear my friend! for us musicians and admirers of good art, the future looks really bright! production gear and equipment is now affordable+amazing value+super user friendly+internet= infinite opportunities^_^ stay positive:D:D
@vihockeyguy1 Music industry is about money, not music. And to be honest I'd rather keep guys like this under a rock. If this sorta music hit the mainstream it would be fuckin ruined. Look at Dubstep; only lasted about 3 years haha. I do not want to see the day where people who don't appreciate music properly abuse bands like this to a point where it just sounds dull, generic and unlistenable. My advice is to listen and enjoy while you can. Mainstream is about what's 'cool', not what's good
@vihockeyguy1 27 and a half! I completely agree with you, I assume most who search chimp spanner would. A shame indeed. What position do you play, on an off note?
@vihockeyguy1 Dont worry, while they will fade like fads, metal and good music stays on top because the fans are not retarded 12 year olds with 2 second attention spans. look at Iron Maiden... they are bigger than ever.
all for the better; mr ortiz made this beautiful music with basic amp models and inexpensive recording studio stuff. its quite amazing what u can make nowadays and let people hear it across the world.
@vihockeyguy1 the day that teenage girls listen to metal, your little problem will end. until then can we quit whining about beiber. he is richer than you deal with it
@vihockeyguy1 They hand out record contracts like candy on Halloween... even some lady from one of those Real Housewives shows got a record contract. Don't put much stock into what's popular and what's not.
Hey folks, chill down. I first heard him recently on a bonus CD of the magazine Classic Rock Progonosis 8. His latest effort. And that one stuck out, really. While the others on that compilation CD where stuck in old school prog - sort of archival instinct - , his was bringing some new and at least own identity to the genre. Takes a lot of guts to make it instrumental and intriguing. Though, prog-metal has been around for while, his has SOME originality to it. Not just riffing for riffs sake.
Who cares if it sounds like Meshuggah. I'd rather hear this style than anything else. As far as I see Meshuggah and bands like this are the only thing that keeps me into metal. They don't scream stupid lyrics like black metal and death metal or whatever they've contorted it into now days it sucks, but his is great man thanks for the upload!
man, you got me wrong completely. i am a huge fan of meshuggah, but i also love this track here, it is simply great. i was not talking about some kind of mimicking, it was just parts of CiC reminding me of meshuggah. calm down, kami, chimp spanner is awesome stuff...
@22fret christ this isnt the first time ive heard this and godammit it wont be the last. if palm-muted odd timed (ERG) playing isn't fuckin copywritten then stop bitching about it. rest of the song has some beautiful composition that meshuggah never does and frankly becomes noise after you get over their beat.
also if ur gonna bitch at people for "mimickin" meshuggah maybe u should bitch at meshuggah for playing on a solid electric guitar therefore copying Les Paul (r.i.p.)
the more i listen to him the more i'm amazed, i never thought that this math metal genre could ever be melodic too, i've always tried to make music like this, but it seems like 2 different worlds, cause a catchy melody is usually super easy!
i love both of those bands, but this guy dominates all! but i still prefer meshuggah.....i listen to this stuff when i need a break from screaming lol. but even their vocalist has got some great rhythm, and you never see singers do anything complicated rhythmic-wise.
it has a jeff beck feel at times :-S

Cool stuff, and I can't wait to see where you music goes when you stop blatantly ripping off Fredrik Thordendal.

Clarity in Chaos, I'm thinking that Chimp is keeping a clear mind while at the same time he is surrounded by a chaotic world. I can dig it.

@kamikaz1k
man, you got me wrong completely. i am a huge fan of meshuggah, but i also love this track here, it is simply great. i was not talking about some kind of mimicking, it was just parts of CiC reminding me of meshuggah. calm down, kami, chimp spanner is awesome stuff...

Meshuggah, anyone...?
22fret 1 year ago
@22fret christ this isnt the first time ive heard this and godammit it wont be the last. if palm-muted odd timed (ERG) playing isn't fuckin copywritten then stop bitching about it. rest of the song has some beautiful composition that meshuggah never does and frankly becomes noise after you get over their beat.
also if ur gonna bitch at people for "mimickin" meshuggah maybe u should bitch at meshuggah for playing on a solid electric guitar therefore copying Les Paul (r.i.p.)

the more i listen to him the more i'm amazed, i never thought that this math metal genre could ever be melodic too, i've always tried to make music like this, but it seems like 2 different worlds, cause a catchy melody is usually super easy!
xxxslayerxxx666 1 year ago
what? dude listen to Bulb. or Animals As Leaders if u want heavy melodic shit.
quarentine99 1 year ago
i love both of those bands, but this guy dominates all! but i still prefer meshuggah.....i listen to this stuff when i need a break from screaming lol. but even their vocalist has got some great rhythm, and you never see singers do anything complicated rhythmic-wise.
