  • The working class mind is.. strange, and unpredictable.

  • perhaps if you watched more television you'd be better at your job LMAO classic!

  • Comment removed

  • "You never waste time, Jason, time wastes you." LOL

  • I love how his "disguises" are from the previous century.

  • Pure Genius of the Great master himself.... Adam We...! Respect!

  • 32 people were expecting Brannigan.

  • My god. 20:21 cracked me up.

  • @rueckerc1

    11:20 to 12:10 was hysterical

  • this is the greatest thing i have ever seen!

"they don't make that hairspray any more."

    "those fools!"

  • I could so see Conan playing the main role of this himself.

  • I've been hearing about this for years. Brilliant!

  • I wanna watch 50 episodes of it.

dammed, is this to smart for the public??

  • Sounds like a string of classic car thefts.

  • This was so funny! I'd not heard of this before, but glad I watched it. Very much like Police Squad, and Adam West just rules in this part. Wish I was rich...I'd sponsor an entire season of this show with my own money!

  • I liked it, a lot, but can see why it was not picked up. Much like Police Squad I do not think there could be any more episodes before it really started to reach for gags and ideas. I would have made a great movie.

I do wish that instead of him inadverdently helping to solve the crime he was totally wrong. That would have been funny each week (if it were brought to be a series) to see how wrong he was.

  • @cmcSignups I agree! What an insightfull post. Well done....you get a cookie

  • Better go take a look...

  • very police sqaudesk.

  • "Hello there, the side walk is my pillow!"

  • This is the first time that I've seen this show. I heard about it watching a biography about Adam West. I got to say this is some funny stuff, and I can't see why it was not turned into a series. I mean the idea of some TV actor thinking he could be the same in real life is a fantastic idea for television. This is one that the networks messed up on.

  • Is that a young Quentin Tarantino slouching in the corner from 00:22-00:30?

  • Just so you know, I tell everyone I can about this show. I have it on DVD and show it to everyone.

    Thanks for posting!

  • @mrbigreded

Where did you find this on DVD?

I would love to have a copy!

    How is the quality?

Does it "Look well" or does it "Look bad" in crappy dub kind of way?

  • They cancelled this show? "Those fools."

  • @aaa234 It never made it past the pilot episode, so it never even aired.

  • Way ahead of it's time. In this age of 15 minute - no talent needed celebrity, this show would have been great for TV. The style is more suited for cable, though.

  • The greatest TV show never made.

  • Adam West is amazing.

This would have been a cult TV series.

The 32 dislikes must all be American TV Executives..

  • Good evening, I live in the streets!

  • I saw Adam West yesterday in Philly at a Q&A and he told us all about this. He said it was his favorite pilot that he made and that he was very upset when it was picked up for a season.

  • Pay no attention, I'm just a crazy old vagabond

  • funny stuff, definitely worth the time!

  • My god, this is awesome!

  • patrick swayze at 5:58 ? haha

  • "Hey! Don't paint the bumper man!"

"Huh. Allright. It's all the rage in.........Minnesota"

    I love it!!!

  • Hobo-stick = funny. Always.

  • @LeshaAnn yes!!

  • That was awesome, I can't believe that was from 1990, so ahead of it's time. I want to see this on TV now!

  • The reason this show wasn't picked up is because its all the rage in Minnesota, but not in New York.

  • This is the greatest fucking thing, ever.

  • Was great. But nobody watched it. Adam West couldn't shake Batman, not even with The Last Precinct, another great show.

  • OMG BRILLIANT. Ahead of it's time, is all.

  • They cancelled this show?...Those fools.

  • Now all someone needs to do put West in a new show....even animation would do......

  • hilarious adam west rocks!!!

  • Lookwell was this not funny as hell Conan and Smigel were gipped by asshole TV execs, this show could have been awesome the potential to go so many ways with it. Hope someone someday tries to revive it. Thanks for posting this!!!!!!

  • OH DEAR GOD! HERE IT IS! IN IT'S ENTIRETY! BLESS YOU!

  • Lookwell was ahead of it's time, maybe too much with such sharp parody and satire..it would play well on TV these days.

  • Lookwell rules.

  • "Im not a car thief, Im an actor! Follow me!"

  • FAKE - This is actually a factual documentary about Adam West's life :p

  • @tkhushrenada Not even remotely funny... Your comment that is, the show was awesome!

  • @tkhushrenada: Thanks to those rerun checks & his current work, he could by & sell you any day.

  • So, this has been up for 5 years and it only has 280k views. PEOPLE, GET THE WORD OUT.

  • @Mondonitis The working class mind is strange and unpredictable.

  • @Mondonitis If you compare 280k views to other one-time half hour shows, it is actually amazing! I do thank you for posting this!

  • Great show. If you want to read the script visit my blog: stephennelsoncomedy . co . uk - have a read of the blogs too :-)

  • This plot is a lot like Hong Kong Phooey. Just make Adam West an afro american dog who believes he is solving crimes and the police officer is the cat in the file cabinet actually solving the crime but careful not to hurt his friends ego.

  • I liked it - Had a "Police Squad" type of vibe to it. (RIP Leslie Nielsen). Shame the networks didn't pick it up.

  • It's a pleasure to be indoors. hahaha

  • What is "TRIO" and what is "Brilliant but Canceled"? It seems like something that would be cool to have in the US where they show unaired pilots and shows.

  • "Mind...can't help...but make...DEDUCTIONS." Hahahaa. @7:25

  • This fits so perfectly to Doug Walker XD

  • this was ahead of its time

  • Adam West is so underrated as an actor!

His deadpan delivery is like no other!

  • This was awesome. The Captain's: "I thought we had a little talk?" Deadly. Adam West is incredibly incredibly incredible as "The Thinking Actor."

  • It's all the rage in Minnesota.

  • Lookwell watching the faded days of his acting glory in pensive silence while sucking on a "Firm-Pop" is the funniest fucking thing in the world to me.

  • the sidewalk is my pillow

  • This seems like an Adam West show.

  • I take my honorary badge seriously.....heheheheheh

  • hilarious

  • "Mind can't help but go through... deductions." LMAO!

  • The other thing is I doubt they could get Conan to write for it. Conan is an amazing comedy writer.

  • I really enjoyed this pilot. I had no idea Adam West was in this role. I found it to be quite funny, its a real shame they cancelled and didn't give it a series. Great vid.

  • The Big question is....if this show was made today...caould anyone pull it off like ADAM WEST? Im not sure they could. Half of the fun is that it's Adam West in the role.

  • They should try this show again!

It has a subtle sense of humor that T.V. today dosn't have much of.

The idea is fun, and the jokes are excellent.

You hear me, TBS (or anyone else, for that matter)? This is gold!

  • Good evening I live in the streets

  • "My father was a car painter, as was his father, and his father before him."

That would probably be around the early 1800s, painting cars, lol.

  • @promontorium Thanks for breaking down the joke for us... :P

  • Too bad they didn't make a comic book based on this show.

  • Adam West is awesome! The master of camp, playing a ridiculous part with only the slightest hint of a smirk!

  • " I did 3 episodes on this kind of thing".....hehe

  • @tayocham I'm guessing that Brandon Tartikoff had left NBC in early 1991, months before the fall lineup was announced and the show never got picked up.

  • "mind can't help but make----deductions." hysterical

  • So much potential

  • Artz!

  • Hello there, the sidewalk is my pillow

  • The humor reminds me of a type of Seinfeld humor at times. Conan O'Brien + Adam West is pure brilliance. Too damn bad it wasn't picked up! Stupid networks

  • @thomismetal It was picked up, by NBC. It was literally the second lowest rated episode of any Network show of all time. Cancelled instantly.

  • @thomismetal: the show didn't work when it was on NBC, and was low-rated-that's why it was cancelled. The network(s) didn't have anything to do with it; people just didn't get it.

  • Wow that was great...what a shame that its only 1 episode!

  • Ahead of it's time.

  • Great stuff. Adam West is always funny.

  • Uh, Alright.....its all the rage in Oklahoma....

  • The working class man is strange and unpredictable.

  • @SethHesio think he says "mind"

  • you're right!

  • @SethHesio "The working class mind is strange and unpredictable." It's even funnier.

  • the sign at 17:20 is just brilliant =D

"for the homeless, they're everybody's problem"

    ahahahaha

  • Conan O'Brien is awesome. That sign could have ended up in the Simpsons.

  • This is genius!!

  • a little "undercover acting" rofl

  • O_O... Between 7.20 and 7.30... I practically grew up watching that pose and voice, and his not wearing a cowl or a utility belt changes nothing.

  • Adam West is God.

  • Those fools..

  • I love his plan B. This show is perfect right to the ending head shot bit.

  • So bad it's good!

  • Maybe he reminds you of the Mayor from Family Guy because it's the same person???

  • Lookwell reminds me of Mayor West from Family Guy. He's so completely immersed in his own little fantasy world, that he's oblivious to how totally incompetent he is!

"Sorry. Used to play a detective. Mind just can't help but make . . . deductions!"

    Hee, hee!!

  • sounds to me like a string of classic car thefts.

you boys better check it out.

    hahahhahahahahaha

  • This is fucking awesome.

  • Yes, yes, I don't disagree :)

  • Oh, I meant USA Network (of Monk and Psych fame)

  • haha this was pretty damn good. Conan's the man

  • this show is awesome, I WANT TO SEE MORE!!

  • I was thinking more like USA, but I agree. I think it would have at least been picked up if it were pitched in 2000. If NBC forces Conan to stay off the air for an extended period of time after this whole late night mess, I hope he focuses on writing and producing :)

  • "Dash Carlisle" Hilarious!!

  • "the working class mind is strange and unpredictable" hahahaha

  • Anyone remember 'Tropical Punch' on 'Danger Theater?

  • Awesome!!!! "...used to play a detective...mind kind help but make.. deductions...." Oh, I love this show already, seriously, someone pick up the pilot and get the show going now in 2010!!!

  • @rjkStudios: Everybody involved has moved on and is now too busy.

  • If Conan gets bumped he should do Lookwell! It'd be awesome.

  • re-up in HQ/HD?

  • I think the only problem with this pilot is that they pitched it about ten years too soon. Too often, that seems to be Conan's problem...

  • i love adam west

  • OMGWTFBBQ 11:10 to 12:00 is fucking hysterical "How'd you get beat up?" LOLOLOL

  • Haha, "Tell him I'm Dash Carlial..."

  • this is absolutely wonderful!

  • "Quark" the best of its kind

  • LoL

  • This is the best video I have ever seen!

  • I have no idea what you are talking about. They made this perfectly. The parts that draw long or seem like they were struggled to write are just like all other 70's and 80's cop dramas. The entire show is shot and uses the same film style of those shows. I do agree though, this wouldn't make a great series more of a movie.

    A perfect pilot!

  • epik

  • GENIUS!!!!!

  • It saddens me to no end that this show was not produced and made after this pilot.

    So much potential.

    Lookwell:

Very well then, I'll be out of your way.

    But remember this gentlemen...

I have a lot of free time.

  • its funny but to say it had "so much potential" is absurd. it would have been the same damn show every week. making a movie out of it would have been a better idea

  • Comment removed

  • @khalithistle Isn't that essentially what every procedural is? Wouldn't that be part of the joke?

  • This was awesome! My favorite moment is he is renting a car to go to an audtion!

    "The thinking actor!"

  • Good evening...I haven't a home. I love it! It would have dried up after a season but it would have been a riot!

  • "I.. can't help but make... deductions...

  • Hilarious. Shame this wasn't picked up.

  • 15:20

    fucking hilarious

  • "Tell him im Dash Carlisle, world renound auto racer"...

    Awesome little show...

  • Who is Hugh O'Brien?

    Exactly!

  • "I tried but the store said they don't make that hairspray anymore."

    "Those fools."

    LMAO

  • that was pretty funny. so smooth in his undercover work. who wouldnt think he was an average homeless or racer! perfect. wish there was more to watch

  • I love how he eats at the table at the restaurant right next to his old headshoot

  • "Of course we could have gone to fourth season, but I felt that my character had said everything it had to say"

    "How did the network feel?"

    "Similar"

    HAHAHA!

  • I love Adam West, he's hilarious.

  • He's also actually crazy which make him even better.

  • Buzz McCool. Dash Carlyle.

  • Pay no attention. I'm just a crazy old vagabond.

  • THis is so hilarious thank you for the post.

  • I have never heard of this before today. This is the best show that i had never seen. "maybe if you watched more tv, you would be better at your job."

    "is he gay?"

  • MIYATA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is easily the greatest thing ever made in the history of time.

  • Hugh O'Brian played a character named Lockwood in Search and Adam West looks a bit him in the long shots, maybe Lookwell was a skit on that. West spoofs his image so well like Leslie Nielsen. Doug McClure did it too in Out of This World.

  • "You never waste time Jason, time wastes you." HAHA nice!

  • 'Remember this gentlemen, I have a lot of free time'

  • Wow AHAHAHAH So good.

"How'd you get Beat-up Mr Lookwell?"

"I'm not really sure, the working class is strange and unpredictable."

    LOOOL

  • Adam West?

  • BRILLIANT! It is such a shame that i don't have 5 seasons of Lookwell setting on my shelf. Absolutely hilarious.

  • Would you mind uploading this in HQ or HD file resolution on here? I love watching it, it's truly the apex of human creative achievement... Thanks!

  • I bet Conan still used back then. Still funny but different imo

  • used what?
