@ptxpatrol He's resting his palm on the body instead of thumb on the pickup, which is more useful for plucking and string crossing. He's kind of pushing the strings down, leading to the clicking sound. Watch Jaco's right hand to see the opposite.

You know, neither Fender bass is appropriate for the Zender sound. The Warwick's with Wenge fretboards, are about the only way to get the sound -- even with lots of EQ.

You can hear that here. This bass type is just too empty in the midbass and upper bass, and there is no staccato punch.

Nice attempt at a cool jam! Get the sound right and play a bit more staccato, and you'll be closer.

It's in the right hand.

Stuart did not play on this album version, by the way. Crazy, eh?

slapping is when you hit the middle of your thumb against one of the strings to make a sound. Popping is sliding your finger under a string and pulling straight out to make a twang sound. Usually you slap the E and A strings and pop the D and G strings.
