  • i found a motor but it had a metal gear -____- then it didnt even work

  • That''s what I did put a philips chicle conector on the motor!

  • Let's make Lego Chainsaw !!!!!!!!!! xD

  • You sound like the guy from Brainpop

  • what toy did you get the motor from maybe i have one

  • Good :) and funny :D

  • yes i made a working lego gun with this and i saved money i just used old mcdonald's toys for the motor and the battery box THANKS!!! ;D

  • @AdictiveGamer dude what McDonald toy i collect them maybe i have one

  • well too late im about to open it apart :/

  • i have a small rc truck will the motor work on that???

  • ummmm i cant really find a engine, can u please give me a website for the motor? Thanks

  • Hey, I made a Lego Windmill that spins, but doesn't need ANY motors!

And it spins when you pull down a lever, It's made with ONLY Legos and a rubber band. It doesn't spin for a long time, but I think it's still pretty darn cool!

You can find my video on my channel in the "Lego" playlist.

    It will show the mechanism.

  • @ColeSlawProductions You could try using the pull back motor, it isn't electrical.

  • ur a little bit crazy...........like me

  • Cool I've done that with super glue and a hammer

  • can u message me a cite to buy those motors thanks oh and save the monkeys ;)

  • Good work.

In other news you look like edgar from deadlist catch

  • Thank you so much

  • GEAR DRIVE!

  • Its hard not to subscribe.

  • What about if you put an axle joiner on it and put an axle in it than put a gear in it like the real Lego motors?

  • So adding to favorites :[}

  • "this plastic is really soft"*makes face like forcing really hard*

  • I wish battlebots was still on tv, I would give anything to see what you would come up with

  • Wow, this takes me back... you can assemble a "motor box" to delete the rubber band. As a child I used a twist tie because of the metal in it... I kept melting rubber bands :/ I can post a video of "The Box" if anyone is interested.

  • Lego keep changing their motor systems so you can probably get the obsolete styles cheap on Bricklink and they still work perfectly cause it's all Lego. And Lego motors tend to be of a higher quality.

  • hmm i never knew lego had a motor type lego sweet!!

  • I suppose you can fit in a potentiometer to change the speed smoothly? But that would also decrease the power. Maybe some sort of conic continuous gear (like train wheels) to get the same effect and don't lose any power (well, more speed, less power and vice versa)

  • @janmorez a servomotor would be easier to hold against the lego, and it has a potentiometer built in.

  • You are AWESOME!

  • To anyone who wants to use LEDs in their Lego projects: 5mm LEDs fit PERFECTLY in the little holes in lego technic parts, but it is a very, very snug fit, so make sure you don't get them stuck!

  • Comment removed

  • but most toys have the little motors with the flat sides :O

    Oh well... improvise

  • @freeNode5 Funny thing about rubber bands.... they'll wrap around just about any shape. :-) I was kinda presuming I didn't need to demonstrate on every shape of motor. :-P

  • @JMEMantzel hey jaimie now that you are back from vacation (whenever you aren't too busy) are you gonna work on some tshirts? i sent you $25 a couple months ago and i want to look super cool in my tshirt!!! i sent you a couple messages but i dont really know what your main email is.

  • @kekejojo1212 Oh... ya. Sorry. Once in a while a shirt gets lost in the mail. Doesn't happen too often, but enough to be annoying. :-P Uhh.... I'll send you an e-mail. :-)

  • you can get the motors in maplins for £2

  • Another awesome video! I was just thinking about dusting off all my childhood "expert legos", and had lost my motor...so this is perfect timing. My daughter is 4 now, so I think we'll have a great time inventing stuff together. She's definitely getting bored with all the Duplos that were handed down to her from friends and family. I think our first project might have to be a robot...in your honor :-)

  • DR HOUSE

  • LEGOS!

  • Ive done this before! I was trying to make a lego RC truck to play with on a track with someone I know and I used an airplane motor and speed controller with my RC gear. The wheels went really fast in the air then I put it on the ground and it didnt more and the speed controller melted... and when that happens it goes to full power and you cant stop it which isnt a good way for it to fail! My lithium battery was at risk but all was well after. I had my gear ratio wrong! It wasnt great anyway

  • Oh and you should make more lego vidoes Jamie! Make your spider robot out of legos like I have been dying to do.

  • WOOT Thanks. I have some official lego motors but sometimes they don't work exactly for the situation. This way I can get the exact toque and speed without loosing efficiancy... and I'm always looking for a chance to save Monkeys. :D

  • LEGOS!!!!!!

  • NICE!

Especially considering that technical legos probably cost more per ounce than gold!

  • @hakachukai That can't be right!

  • ur gonna make a giant robot out of lego arent u........... Vote up if he should

  • their not motors, their servos.

  • Well, since i cant get my cellphone to move on its own, i think i will build your robot kit and mount it too it...hmmm...yeah it will work!

  • awesome. now show us your many lego creations!

  • Awesome, thanks for the info!

  • As a kid, I used to wrap the motor shaft with masking tape, and then JAM on a small LEGO gear :) I like your motor mount !!! I used to use hot glue a lot on the LEGO's to make things semi-perm or stronger. Hot glue pulls off OK and does not etch into the plastic.

  • @jacebigelow Ya, the masking tape trick works well too. :-) Don't tell anyone, but I used to uhh.. melt pieces together with a lighter. heh.... heh... in a well ventilated area, of course.

  • Do you ever have any problems with the gear sliding?

  • @kzxqrit If the gear slides, I'll take it off, and use a file to rough up the motor shaft. That usually does the trick. ....but you can always resort to crazy gloo!

  • @JMEMantzel wish I'd thought of that before throwing away the model train I got when i was 4 :(

  • Excellent Jaimie : ) I was almost going to pull out my design for a lego, so you could make it with the laser thingie, but remembered it has too many dimensional levels on it, D-oh!

  • Wouldn't it be easier to turn on the motor then use a file and have the....Never mind you just said to do that...thinking a lot alike here.

  • What do you do to stop the motor from turning and ripping out the wires in higher torque situations?

  • @aggrav8d err.... the motor isn't strong enough to move. umm... .maybe you need a bigger rubber band, or a smaller motor. :-P

  • @JMEMantzel Get a bag of ShapeLock. You'll never regret it. It's a mouldable plastic that doesn't bond with polypropalene. Wrap that over and around the motor to fix the torque problem or use it to bond the motor shaft to a gear. lots and lots of applications.

  • Only 10 minutes ago I was looking to see if you had posted anything new.
