Is it just me or does Steven Rivers kind of have a weird throwing style. Like the way he turns into his throws. It's like easily predictable. I can see the why he's not ready for SEC play right off the bat. He needs some fundamental work, but I see the potential. I really don't like his throwing technique though.

@qpid1974 Yes. He has good pocket presence. knows when to step up in the pocket, when to move outside the pocket. Has very good accuracy and above average throw power. can throw on the run very well. throwing motion doesn't matter imo because he has a quick release. but he should be a very good starter possibly all-sec in about 3 years should we bring in Mett.
looks like he picked up a few things from big brother... gonna be super exciting watching him play college ball and eventually make it to the pro level.

in august 2010 he was listed at 6ft 7 200 lbs at only 17 yrs old & is more mobile than his older brother Philip who is a top 3 qb in the NFL. When Philip went to NC State they gave him the starting job right away & he played well & got better every year. LSU will have Stephen for 3 probably 4 yrs Its a shame UCLA didn`t get him he should grow into a beast

I agree with @OperaGhost. I believe he was saying to just get ready for the next game, not that he was satisfied with it. I don't think ANY LSU fan is satisfied with anything less than a BCS bowl. I think people would agree that if we had a QB, then we would be undefeated, but we don't this year. Just gottta support the team through anything. It's a tough pill to swallow to have two losses, trust me, I BLEED purple and gold. Just gotta kick some ass in our bowl and look forward to next season.

He should have been trained at QB, no questions asked, and JJ should have been a RB.

He had no reason to be QB once they recruited Russel Shepard. With about another 50 lbs or so, he could be a threat, quick like he is, but I agree he'd get slaughtered. My point was mostly that I'd like him put just about anywhere but QB.

He did it at OREGON, not Oregon State and subsequently faltered down the line. Happened at BYU when he was the head coach there and happened in Louisiana Tech. He just doesn't have staying stamina.

God, I can't wait for next season when this kid arrives on campus. Maybe he can teach Jefferson a trick or 2, and can lead LSU to a BCS game. He's got a hell of an arm, looks to be a pretty smart passer, very confident standing in the pocket, knows how to move. This kid could lead LSU to its next BCS nat'l title.
he should've went with UCLA, although i knew from the beginning that was a long shot. he would've had a chance to start immediately (they have no quarterback depth), a chance to work with an offensive genius like Norm Chow (who coached his bro), and it's a growing program that wouldn't demand immediate success. o well....we'll see if he's anything like his bro. although i highly doubt it, philip was special.
Good footwork however he almost never sets his feet before throwing....Absolutely will not cut it at the next level. I want Phillip Ely at LSU......and we also need to sign #22. He makes Rivers look real good.

@qpid1974 Yes. He has good pocket presence. knows when to step up in the pocket, when to move outside the pocket. Has very good accuracy and above average throw power. can throw on the run very well. throwing motion doesn't matter imo because he has a quick release. but he should be a very good starter possibly all-sec in about 3 years should we bring in Mett.

in august 2010 he was listed at 6ft 7 200 lbs at only 17 yrs old & is more mobile than his older brother Philip who is a top 3 qb in the NFL. When Philip went to NC State they gave him the starting job right away & he played well & got better every year. LSU will have Stephen for 3 probably 4 yrs Its a shame UCLA didn`t get him he should grow into a beast

I agree with @OperaGhost. I believe he was saying to just get ready for the next game, not that he was satisfied with it. I don't think ANY LSU fan is satisfied with anything less than a BCS bowl. I think people would agree that if we had a QB, then we would be undefeated, but we don't this year. Just gottta support the team through anything. It's a tough pill to swallow to have two losses, trust me, I BLEED purple and gold. Just gotta kick some ass in our bowl and look forward to next season.

Crowton has to go, and I hope Zach Mettenberger comes to LSU so Stephen can redshirt. I have a feeling next season will be much better. Our offense SHOULD be better. I hope they don't prove me wrong on that statement.

@lsufootball42 Exactly right. I'm certainly not satisfied with the Cotton Bowl, but complaining about it won't get us into a BCS bowl, so get ready to play the best we can with what we have. And @zzhoopsfanzz, I've been saying that since Shepard's freshman season. Since they put him at WR I've been baffled at the decision. He should have been trained at QB, no questions asked, and JJ should have been a RB.

@gifte I never said JJ would've made a GOOD RB, just that he would probably do more good than he does at QB (if nothing else, it would keep him off the field most of the time). He had no reason to be QB once they recruited Russel Shepard. With about another 50 lbs or so, he could be a threat, quick like he is, but I agree he'd get slaughtered. My point was mostly that I'd like him put just about anywhere but QB.

@zzhoopsfanzz He also had the top Offense in 2007. Gary Crowton's problem isn't about starting hot, he blows down the lane. He did it at OREGON, not Oregon State and subsequently faltered down the line. Happened at BYU when he was the head coach there and happened in Louisiana Tech. He just doesn't have staying stamina.

God, I can't wait for next season when this kid arrives on campus. Maybe he can teach Jefferson a trick or 2, and can lead LSU to a BCS game. He's got a hell of an arm, looks to be a pretty smart passer, very confident standing in the pocket, knows how to move. This kid could lead LSU to its next BCS nat'l title.

he should've went with UCLA, although i knew from the beginning that was a long shot. he would've had a chance to start immediately (they have no quarterback depth), a chance to work with an offensive genius like Norm Chow (who coached his bro), and it's a growing program that wouldn't demand immediate success. o well....we'll see if he's anything like his bro. although i highly doubt it, philip was special.

I know he wants to be like big brother, but I can't believe how bad his throwing motion looks. For someone with his frame he really lacks zip on the ball, but I'm sure they'll fix all that at LSU. He has good footwork, he moves well in the pocket, and I can imagine that he has a good mind for the game.
