Did he say he's going to add oil to the car??? Oil is being splashed around and it should be well above the full mark. If its low, that engine is toast.

i cant see how running that car around without the rest of the exhaust not hooked up is good for it seeing that the o2 sensors have alot to do with how the air fuel ratio cause takes a reading from the exhaust sends it to the computer and makes its adjustmenst and theres other things it alters like egr valve mass air flow sensor temp sensor all work together not something i would do not to mention i dont think it sounds that good personally

It means that the headers(Exaust pipes coming directly from the engine don't go the catalitic converter nor through a muffler. Less restrictions on exaust flow equals more horsepower.

If u wanna get more power yu have to have EQUAL balance with everything. there fore dont expect more power when yu take a muffler and cats off, thats unbalanced. However if yu have too much backpressure then yu lose power too and it works the exact opposite way. so stop trying to sound smart.
Even with unbalanced modifaction you well receive some increase in HP, and I was answering his question. Even headers provide some back pressure, still assuming everything else is stock, running straight headers will provide more power. Besides which we are talking about a high revving aluminum small block. Turning sixty-five hundred rpm you'll have plenty of back pressure, even with straight headers.
Balance will give you more power out of every upgrade, but even unbalanced you'll see some increase. Not as much as you like perhaps, but some none the less.

and yeah i see lots of guys always taking off cats and mufflers and running a complete straight pipe, thinking they will gain much more hp then they actually do. My set up is headers - midpipe- muffler- tail pipe. I gained much more hp by only eliminating the two cats then others wud by eliminating everything! haha
Plus less hassle by the pigs, so that always a bonus. Me I'm still rocking a stock WS6, been thinking about getting some aftermarket. Been looking at Cherry Bomb exaust...can't help it, cherry bomb will always be cool.
Wrong. Less restriction equals more horsepower. Less torque is the result of less restriction, not less horsepower. Open 1 3/4 headers dumping out at the collectors is the most horsepower available on a small block exhaust.

I run open headers once in a while and I have not had any problems with valves. When I run on the strip with any of my cars it is open headers. I have a 81 Silverado with a 305 4 bbl and it has not had mufflers or a cat on it in over 10 years. Straight pipes is all. Same thing with my 66 Chvy pu with a 292 inline six. Dual headers and no mufflers. Loud as all get out but both run super slick. I think you will be ok running open headers.

@Soundwave0078 Is it a wagon or hatchback? I'm 49 years old and my grandma lets me take her wagon out cruisin the blvd on Friday nights. It's got a stock 4 banger in it but I can still smoke em if I floor it in nuetrel and drop it into drive at a stoplight. If theres water in an intersection I can spin the tires there too as long as theres a bunch of moss in the water. I'd like to get a hatchback and jack the backend up real high someday. Pintos are BAD ASS. LOL

It means that the headers(Exaust pipes coming directly from the engine don't go the catalitic converter nor through a muffler. Less restrictions on exaust flow equals more horsepower.

If u wanna get more power yu have to have EQUAL balance with everything. there fore dont expect more power when yu take a muffler and cats off, thats unbalanced. However if yu have too much backpressure then yu lose power too and it works the exact opposite way. so stop trying to sound smart.

Even with unbalanced modifaction you well receive some increase in HP, and I was answering his question. Even headers provide some back pressure, still assuming everything else is stock, running straight headers will provide more power. Besides which we are talking about a high revving aluminum small block. Turning sixty-five hundred rpm you'll have plenty of back pressure, even with straight headers.

Balance will give you more power out of every upgrade, but even unbalanced you'll see some increase. Not as much as you like perhaps, but some none the less.

and yeah i see lots of guys always taking off cats and mufflers and running a complete straight pipe, thinking they will gain much more hp then they actually do. My set up is headers - midpipe- muffler- tail pipe. I gained much more hp by only eliminating the two cats then others wud by eliminating everything! haha

Wrong. Less restriction equals more horsepower. Less torque is the result of less restriction, not less horsepower. Open 1 3/4 headers dumping out at the collectors is the most horsepower available on a small block exhaust.

"Bro" that is not what YOU typed. Torque is not horsepower, junior. Go on back to your eighth grade counselor and tell her you want to take auto shop 101. Maybe then your lack of knowledge won't be so apparent. Less restriction = more horsepower with a minimal reduction in torque. Equal balance only applies to gases through an exhaust system...not open headers. Equal balance is achieved by a x pipe. But you already knew that now didn't you...junior. I agree that less restriction is more power, but open headers is a good way to destroy your valves. i love the sound but wouldn't straight pipe my TA unless i had a turbo on it for a little bit of backpressure

I run open headers once in a while and I have not had any problems with valves. When I run on the strip with any of my cars it is open headers. I have a 81 Silverado with a 305 4 bbl and it has not had mufflers or a cat on it in over 10 years. Straight pipes is all. Same thing with my 66 Chvy pu with a 292 inline six. Dual headers and no mufflers. Loud as all get out but both run super slick. I think you will be ok running open headers.
