  • this version KILLS!....thanks for sharing!!

  • she was so awesome RIP Janis

  • RIP Janis! It was my pleasure to talk to you in Hollywood, in the good ole days! You were some singer!

  • One of my all time favorite performances!

  • Happy birthday Janis! I was born in the wrong generation and will never get to see you live, but I love you and Im a really big fan! Peace

  • Happy Birthday Janis Baby!

  • I shall not cast my pearls before 98 swine.

  • i wish i could gather all my shit & travel back in tme to woodstock to see this goddess<3

  • I am 18 in 2011.

    Baaad timing...

  • @esztercutechibi

    I know that feeling.

  • god she is beautiful.. i am mesmerized.

  • @FEARandLOATHINGgirl Yes she is! I'm always deep in a trance when I watch her. Every woman is an art piece and she is the number 1 example of such art work!

  • 他跟Jimi Hendrix一樣都是27歲就死了 ~為何?因為都是大毒蟲......

    天妒英才嗎?還是?自作自受~但這兩個人的影響力依然持續影響到現在的世人!!!

  • Another great thing about the 60's: Looks didn't play a role in the music people listened to. An ugly woman proved she could sing as good as the prettiest women.

  • @Furtraderrim

you mean people listen to music because of the.........music. shocking really.

  • @links136 today? certainly not common.

  • no one today can hold a candle to her RIP honey

  • I'm glad to know that because I listen to all types of older music that my kids are growing up with the understanding of good classic music. R.I.P Janis. Man that woman knew how to rock! The best female rocker of all time for sure!

  • quite nice to peak to

  • I saw her in Seattle at the Rainier baseball stadium there was the Youngbloods, Steve Miller with a group called PG&E. she had a flask with southern comfort ....gawd that woman could sing. we were sitting in right field on the grass but Janis came to the stage we all stood most of us dancing smiling our asses off. RIP Janis

  • @MegaBob77777 Omg, I'm so jealous!!!

  • She's a legend, a good legend... 41 years ago, the world missing you, Janis Joplin (Bad English)

  • 41 years ago today the world lost a legend

  • janis was the best never been someone like this hands down tbone

  • There simply are no words--she has my heart.

  • Millions of us wanted to be at Woodstock

but we couldn't get there. We understood

what was happening though. At the end of

a tumultuous decade the youth of America,

whether at Woodstock or not, were saying

"We are hurting, but we are hopeful. We

are trying to help heal our nation. And we're

not going to give up." God bless America

  • @LoneTinaja

    God bless The World:)

  • Just an awe inspiring performance. Its fun to watch her strut her stuff. How can you get tired of watching it? She's the chick you got stoned with in high school.

  • Damn... guess I have a few years on me... and I wear 'em with great pride. This was a good time to grow up; I am BLESSED ... blessed BE!

  • Janis was a seasoned performer by this time....the problem with many of today's talent is that they don't need to have experience to become huge...they don't have to earn their way to the top because EVERYONE who has ANY kind of talent today is scrutinized beyond belief by the media and their fate is decided upon judges and the rest of the world to decide.....of course there are exceptions but all of these tv contests are producing people with no substance.

  • The Summer of 69' and Janis made us feel like it could last Forever and it does...............

  • @PanamaRedBuds

Yes it does:) Be cause this was The summer of LOVE. World-Wide.

That energie never get lost.. the echo is still here

  • @indigorenk The Summer of Love was in 1967 no 1969 :D

  • @ZzZShReDZzZzZ

Owh.........was it? :) its so long time ago, I am getting 'old':)

    Thank you for the reminding.

  • awesome!!!!

  • this was when people could really sing and didn't have to use technology to enhance their voices, singers now days don't even have to have a voice it sad!!!

  • I was born in the wrong era tooooooooo

  • jezusss wat een kickass wijf is dit!!!!

    gr peetje htmbusje

  • Disco did not ruin Rock & Roll! Sad that the same folks who would claim "freedom" would bash another genre of music. FYI - during the disco days, GLAM rock was born, and you don't hear any disco fans bashing Queen.

  • We had such good music in the late sixties and early 70's until disco ruined it. Hey kiddies, you have some really cool grandparents. Talk to them about what they experienced. Love Janice!!!

  • I love Janis Joplin, I don't have to try! ;)

  • janis has soul....passion....great players...i treat the old music like its current, because it blows the new stuff away.in regaurds to heavy rock in this day in age, bands like astra from cali, witchcraft from sweden, the devils blood, graveyard, these are great current bands but...back in the day there were more...bands like buffalo, camel, nektar, mahavishnu orchestra, toad, janis, the doors, the who, lucifers friend, carmen maki and blues creation, warlord, pentagram, the pink floyd, flower traveling band ect.

  • Saw her in Honolulu about 3 months before she OD'd... may be her last.... saw her before the show in the bar at the Princess Kaiulani hotel, she was embarrassingly drunk as a skunk, but later on stage it seemed the more she drank the better she got... she fell right on her ass a couple of times... her appearance was rather scary, at that time... seemed she "had" the blues she was singing. Love ya Janis, wherever you are!!!

  • Peccato sia nato 3 anni dopo avrei voluto tantissimo partecipare all'evento piu' importante della storia del rock.

  • shes beastin!

  • I saw Zeppelin '75, Deep Purple '74 &76, Stones '77,The Who '78,and a bunch more. But my biggest regret is not getting to see Janis live in Concert. Man o man she was and is great. No one put so much energy into a song. Todays acts couldnt carry her spit bucket. She was/ is the Queen of Rock, the Queen of Funk. RIP baby, we miss you.

  • @MegaBob77777 im so jealous of you,i saw james brown at oxegen music festival here in ireland a few yrs ago,he was on early in the morn(we were camping)none of my friends would come see him with me,i went alone, amazing act,he died two months later,so glad i saw him!

  • @MegaBob77777 both my parents got to see Led Zep, Janis, and Jimi. The Beatles too.

  • P!NK is a great bringer back of Janis

  • music now a days just SUCKS

  • when will rise a new janis joplin? the world needs...

  • Thanks Poster ...

  • why was I born in 1998?! omg, screw Ke$Ha, Miley Cyrus, Brittany Spears....janis joplin is my complete and utter inspiration! i so love her!!! <3

  • Patti Smith is releasing an 18-track career-spanning collection called “Outside Society” on 8/23. She is such a rock legend and a great person. Make sure you check it out; it’s definitely worth your time.

  • the love of my life, at all

  • Kanon

    Æ74

  • So, here I am, back there in 1969 - staring up at the one and only!! Thank you God for 1969 and Janis Joplin!

  • True voice. True soul. True power. True woman. She`s amazing!

  • 1 forza della natura!

  • That sure is a strange looking kitchen...

  • mitica!!!!

  • She was amazing!

  • I seen janis at the grande ballroom in detroit and she was fabulos. seen just about everyone at the grande come to think about it.

  • "If it's a dream I don't want nobody to wake me." Wow, this performance is 42 yrs old today!!! I so wish I could of been there!!!!! Would have been awesome to see Janis live....so love her music!!!

  • why did i have to be born in the 90's? :(

  • What a vibrant personality she had!!! She truly kicked Rock N' Roll on its ass, and completely turned upside down, the views of how a "woman singer" should act. She was so raw and intense, and goddamn, did she have soul...how could you not feel that when she sings? She gave everything she had in her performance, losing her was one of the saddest moments in Music. It's the 42nd Anniversary of Woodstock now, and she is first on my list of Woodstock music to listen to.

  • who is basking her on the horn section? sounds very Booker T-ish

  • se tivesse a idade dessa galera teria sido ainda mais louco que todos presentes!!!!!!!

  • one word: goosebumps.

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • I wanted to be there

  • I love that there was a horn section. Janis was the best!

  • Nothing like live Janis to get me pumped up to write blog post!

  • Four Hundred Thousand happy folks dancing to Pearl!!!! This was just so good.

  • Janis Joplin forever!

  • Boy does she stink.

  • @Makater77 So do you!

  • not only born wrong time but wrong place as well that sux more!

  • amo janis

  • You gotta love the 60´s, the 3 J (Janis, Jim, & Jimi) and those 3 wooonderfulls days of music and peace.

  • @Mapaxa55

    wish i was there man

  • finally i found some good quality video of Janis singin at the woodstock..

  • "If I hold back, I'm no good. I'm no good. I'd rather be good sometimes, than holding back all the time."

    - Janis Joplin

  • @fredsassy5 I thought Jimi Hendrix said that, maybe they both did, they certainly achieved it

  • @kittenmouse23 yeah i accidently put janis joplin on it lol

  • @fredsassy5 I thought Hendrix said that?!

  • this song makes me smile :)

  • Your Dad told you wrong. Janis loved her audiences and her audiences loved her. She talked to us a great deal between songs, breaking down the wall between star and fan. Your Dad may have confused a few humorous F-words for screaming obscenities but that's OK - he did a good job raising you or you wouldn't be checking the lady out.

  • My dad told me that Janis would scream obscenities at the audience after every song... but I've seen these videos and haven't heard her cussing them out. And man. She was awesome! Wish I could travel back to that day and sneak in to that festival.

  • @sanjouindacapo You more than likely would not have even had to sneak in. Thousands of people ended up getting in without paying because of last minute change of location and then having poor facilities and such. It was still amazing! Ah, woodstock is why we have concerts the way we do today. :) Woodstock was the start of many things. <33 man. :) I just can't even explain(i also suck at explaining) what I wanna explain. You just feel all chill xD or yeha. xD

  • Increible, estupenda voz, me encantaa!!!!!

  • tenho dvd do Show... demais.. ela canta bem...

    da até arrepio ouvir ela

  • la puta ama

  • JOPLIN! WoW! Soul music is colorless.

  • Amazing song!

  • for the longest time. the only thing I ever heard about this performance, was that she was "out of it" and terrible.

gawd that girl had a set of pipes!

  • tryyyyy

Bicha louca.

  • So much heroin.

  • Can't believe she didn't make it on the Woodstock movie

  • What always gets me is how effortless she makes it seem. That fucking voice....!!!!

  • she's awesome...F the university of texas

  • Thanks so much! I was nine! I was lucky to be in the barley post formative years to have grown up with this amazing music in an amazing time..wish more today had the simplicity of simply peace n love! What a concept??/!!! tehee Thanks Again Manfasia Hater! :)

  • probably best singer in the world..

  • imortal;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

  • we should all get high in a circle, and so then we could remeber to this amazing music festival!!

  • i love you janis joplin

  • How could any one love, love, love any one more than Janis Joplin?

  • unfortunately there will never be another woodstock but i think if enough of us who loved this era and genra of music got together and found away and a place we could make a come back with proper music and revive the music

  • Love Ya Janis, always have. Best Woodstock Video I have seen. Many thanks.

  • we should have another woodstock with actual good music none of this modern music....look at the views on just this one video....there are still enough people that love real music, and that loves peace

  • We Need another WOODSTOCK!!

  • Shunned & castigated in her hometown - she couldn't have enjoyed this more.Half a million strangers grooving to her music ,with more love in their hearts for her than a couple of hundred Port Arthurs.

  • i want to be there SOOOOOOOOOOO BAD

  • 94 people need to TRY again!!

  • you try to sing that shit omg wow

  • If I could I'd kill to go woodstick in 1969

  • she is my alltime favorite

  • i was born in the wrong era man..

  • @FreakyHippieMe Oh, thats too bad.

  • @FreakyHippieMe yea thats right...our generations music suckssss!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @rockyeminem15 everythimg about our generation sucks

  • @FreakyHippieMe Remember, you'd have to be born in the forties to be at least a teenager in the 60's. No internet, no stupid smartphones, phones have cords, no cd players, tapes weren't around yet, and if you followed timothy leary in his quest, it was likely, you became a permanent cripple.

  • @Mirada84 or '50s. :P sorry.

  • @FreakyHippieMe - you and me both

  • ....that woman can sing.

  • I love you JANIS!!!! Your music will LIVE ON x

  • I love that woman. She put her whole damn self into the music.

  • Goosebumps every fucking time...

  • @ConCarneBlues EVERY..FUCKING...TIME...

  • no puede ser mejor!

  • Much respect for anyone who loves Janis. Got something for you all................. "Stay With Me Baby" . My favorite song by her isn't on YouTube. You must Google it. There is 2 of them. The alternate version is better. Please look it up. You will not be sorry. Let me know what you think of these rare tracks.

  • Janis, I'll never ever forget your concert in Kansas City, KS three months before you were gone. Just the thought of it gives me goosebumps. Nobody performed live like you did. Nobody gave as much. Thank you, thank, thank you.

  • she uuuugly but cute how weird is that.

  • Je suis né à la mauvaise époque...

  • damn i would kill to hav been alive at that concert

  • This, is the definition, of music with meaning! I love this song, it motivates me and helps me keep going on, when the times, just get you down.

  • This is the first time I ever listened to Janis Joplin, and jesus... Where has she been all my life.... Oh my god.. That voice.. Nothing today will ever touch her..

  • amazing

  • my god, and gods♥

  • caralho é um orgasmo!!!

  • I lived in the 60s and the music was as good as you think it must have been if you were not there. Better because we lived it.

  • puta q pariu canta de mais pq nos deixo minha deusa

  • Thanks! I needed that---a big shot of Janis Joplin. All better now. MIss you darling after all these years, no one can hold a candle to you.

  • WOW!!!!

  • It is hard to believe that this did not make the original cut into the Woodstock movie. Somebody really thought Sha na na was better than Janis Joplin? Give me a break. She soars!

  • Comment removed

    illuminated the heavens and passed

from the scene far too soon

  • su voz es de otro mundo como me encanta janis porque se tuvo que ir...
