I love my E36 328i. Only mod is a Signature Motoring performance intake kit. They run around $170 and add up to 9HP in the E46 323/325/328 and up to 9.4HP in the 328i. That's about $17/per extra HP... A good value for the extra oomph. General HP increases are shown:

BMW based alot of their succes in motorsport and also in road cars with their 4 banger engines...mainly used in German touring cars and British touringcars, back in the early days, it was a great engine, very easy to make the best of, it was super easy to build up the revs and keep em there.. no big deadzones like in other especially ford engines used with the mondeos in Btcc.
