  • That is a nice palm. We have thousands of palm trees here on Canadas west coast. Lots of 30 footer T.fortunei planted back in the 1960's.

  • We have lots of Trachycarpus fortunei in Portland, OR that were planted back in the late 1920's

  • I know there are lots of big palms in Portland but I have never heard of any that date back to the 1920's. I do know of some that date back to the 1950's. There is one very tall specimen that grows in front of an old apartment building that must be near 40'ft tall. I am in the PNW Palm & Exotic Plant Society. I know of most every old and tall palm in the NW. There are some very old specimens in Tacoma and Seattle as well. They date back to the mid 1940's here.

  • Where is Triple Oaks Nursury?? I've read a little about this palm and seen it in cultivation in a variety of places. Cool video! :D

  • This palm is still getting established, but could be the most hardy trunking form. I have seen the 20 foot Windmill Palm in Sterling, Virginia that may be this variety of Trachycarpus.

  • That sounds like a great plant. I think that this one will do very well this year, its second year without any protection beyond the leaves that have fallen.

  • where is triple Oaks?

  • Triple Oaks is in Franklinville, New Jersey

  • Nice job with the Trachy, Joe! Needs narration.

  • Thanks!
