I think the music is perfect, it gives it a calming spiritual feel and somewhat takes away the heartbracking event following this. Its like this video puts them among the clouds resting in the upmost peace without the catastrophie, doing what they believed in . I have the highest respect for these astronauts and anyone who would have the courage to venture into the unknown in order to broaden our frontier and knowledge. Rest in peace crew of Colmbia, your courage is an example to us all.
wow i cant believe what people are saying about women astronauts...that is a HORRIBLE thing to say.. atleast SHE had the courage to do something that you will NEVER have the courage to do,.
rip to them and the crew from Challenger..
too bad the majority of these horrible comments are by their fellow AMERICANS who have NO respect.

Yes, as soon as she saw the mirror her mind turned to make-up and "ooh, do I look hot and sexy enough right now?" instead of concentrating on the current task.
You see, this is why it crashed. I can hear a woman's voice there and she probably screwed something up. Women are nothing but trouble. They should never be allowed near technical equipment or be given position's of responsibility.
Out of a $2.4 trillion budget, less than 0.8% is spent on the entire space program! That's less than 1 penny for every dollar spent. The average American spends more of their budget on their cable bill. For every dollar the U.S. spends on R and D in the space program, it receives $7 back in the form of corporate and personal income taxes from increased jobs and economic growth. I work in healthcare, and a huge number of things we use daily came directly from NASA and space-related research.
A lot of the technology we enjoy came directly or indirectly from the space program. Do you like weather reports? Google maps? Environmental impact assessments? Healthcare research in zero gravity? It's a noble pursuit and what defines us as human explorers. Causes on earth are not ignored because of the various space programs the govt. and private industry runs. They are enhanced by the space programs.
This particular video is from a Sony Minicam that is hand held or Velcro'ed to the wall. It is not fed live to the ground. It's recorded on a tape in a Sony V10 Recorder that is in a saddle bag mounted to seat 3 or MS1 seat. The tape did survive the accident and what you see is what was left of it.
man the courage it must take to actually do this dangerous job. thank you for posting the video and i don tknow wht everyone is saying, i thought the music was nice. atleast it aint some emo song.
This the last few minutes of recorded video from Columbia's (STS 107) flight deck during the beginning of re-entry . Just about 10 minutes after the vid cuts out, Columbia breaks up over Texas.
Secondly, dear God, I can't express the emotion, all who live, and alln who are dead, once they understand, hail Columbia and her crew, and all that both represented.
Will will never give up. We will get there, and we will live there, as you cruelly, won't. Hail Columbia, hail our spirit, hail logic, hail humanity, hail our future.
i disagree..although the video is incredible on its own due to the fact that we got it back..i think the music conveys the power of the situation about to unfold and the immensity of the crew's mission on and off this world.
Most people are going to HATE me for this, but a video wouldent cut off like that unless it was ripped from the cockpit. If they said it was so, how did they recover the video? That is not transmitted live.
the video is transmitted the same way the radio-telecommunications are. They use radio waves to send it to back to the space centre. so all Nasa has to do is record it onto a computer somewhere.
It was actually video from one of the ordinary, hand held digital video camcorders that NASA frequently makes use of. The camera was smashed to pieces (no doubt when it tumbled in the cabin during break-up), and the tape was located in an area where the wreckage fell, mostly unspooled. What was found was then restored and released to the public.
I agree with Richard... no offense intended to your aesthetic choices with regard to the soundtrack, but a version without the music would be much appreciated. What amazing footage... how did you obtain it?
