I got to see them live right after Jason newsted left. to be honest.. jason made a mistake. should have stayed with them.. he was a major contributor of the band and in mettalica he was just the replacement for a rock god.. Cliff burton.. (RIP) i remember crying when i found out he died. :( ohh btw they friggin owned that concert hall.. there great live.
@CptCrunch72 I would hardly say he made a mistake. I agree with your point that he was more of a contributor in Flotsam. He wrote a lot of the music and lyrics for them. But lets be honest...nobody in Flotsam and Jetsam is rich. They have been able to make a living playing music, which is awesome, but going to Metallica is like getting promoted from assistant manager to executive vice president. He has way more money and opportunities now than he ever would have had with F & J.
Why the hell is Doomsday For The Deceiver not as popular as Master of Puppets? Flotsam are the masters of Thrash/Speed metal and this song is great :)

I still remember when their demo shit was going around Phoenix (long before this). My friend's older brother kept playing it over and over. This brings back some great memories.

today's metal is definitely plastic, lacking innovation, everything was played 20 years ago, thrash, death, black metal were played 25 years ago, actually all genres were invented back then, and today's metal is copying, eating its tail. I listened to this in 1988 or beginning of 1989 when I was 15. That was just a pure genius. I didn't know the words, but that was pure beauty I experienced back then.

@supmayne1 Not all vikings were like that. The one that were were the Russian and German vikings. Those vikings had valhalla cults so they belived in dying in battle was the ONLEY way to die. So they raped, pillaged and plunderd wherever they went. However other viking clans such as the Danes, Swedes and the Geats were very honerable vikings. King Richard the 1st had many battles with danes and he noted their honor and bravery. Geats were also known as quiet country folk.

@supmayne1 Also not all Samurai were honerable. Most were. But not every one. Some Samurai were rich land owners. And they were VERY narcissistic. Every time they would leave their castle (or pagoda if you will) they would demand everybody that they passed would get down on thier knees and bow. Those who resisted would be killed. Its all about indavidualism some were good some were bad.

man this song brings back memories.... I had this album, some really good work was done with it, funny how I ever found it at the local store given in this day and age you can preview anything on the web and then decide.
don't know what got me to buy it... may have been an old video show on PBS called "The Beat" I think hosted in Detroit.
great song though, F'ing love the internet for making this available.
