  • How did somebody let it take flight in a first place? If this plane has had some kind of major damage in it's fuselage, it shouldn't be put to work risking innocent lives. I've created a glossary to an Aviation College in a local University, for terminological aviation language and there are some pics of real jerry rigged repairs that everyone would bet they'd cost some lives. Greedy and sad...

  • Wow...

  • thumbs up if for a split second you thought jay mohr was the anchor wearing some makeup!!

  • Why that happened? How that happened? Anyone have any info regarding this specific incident? :( Too sad :(

  • a frightening and tragic video, very sad indeed... RIP to the crew

  • Why are half the commentors leaving notes like "Sweet", "awesome", and "cool"? People died on this plane, out there fighting fires and helping people while most Americans were sitting on their duffs watching TV. Just imagine your father was on this plane before you write "LOL", because some poor kids are going to wait for their dad to come home in vain. You think that's funny?

  • O no, but looking from the video it seemed that the wings gave way first then the explosion because the fuels are carried in the wings. O no, terrible terrible and poor pilots. I think its structural failure.

  • @pleongks i think so.... RIP 3 crew members...

  • "G'day cunt"

  • how did the wing explode in mid air?

  • @nevonja i think that it was going too fast, so when it lost all the weight the wings had too much lift, ripping themselves off and so metal was being thrown around causing the sparks and flames. it looked like and explosion made the wings come off, but in fact the wings coming off made the explosion.

  • Krass :o

  • What retard designed that plane... Fuck!

  • oh dear i dont perfer flying rather be safe than sorry

  • I disagree with the comment below, 100%.

  • I remember hearing about this. Tragic. They died quickly. Flying, flying... dump water..... wings break. 1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds, 4 seconds, 5 seconds.... dead.

  • LOL! It caused more fire xD

  • @mcrdude08 U think this is funny, let me put you through an explosion, and then throw you hundreds of feet into the air just to plummet to your explosive death. Haha! look! your burning corpse started a fire! >:(

  • @mcrdude08 lol - can you believe it caused even more fire ? xD

  • Yes,very tragic. Heroes they were. We owe them so much for helping other people.

  • @phil123711. Tragic. But, dying does not make one a hero. There once was a time when we reserved the title of "hero" for truly outstanding people who did extraordinary things. Crashing a plane and dying, while tragic, is not heroic.

  • @April4th1984

    i agree.

  • I knew a guy who knew the people killed. They were definately heroes.

  • SWEEEETTTTT

  • @w0rdupdog can i push you out of an airplane and call it sweeeeeetttttt please?

  • Cool. I hoped they lived.

  • ALL!!"3" people.. well thats 3 to many.

  • poor pilot :(

  • Can you imagine the terror in the cockpit at 0:13? Sheez...

  • How upsetting... to die while trying to help their fellow men! May the rest in peace and be remembered for their services to our World.

  • @LandisKashu your moms an inside job get off this video conspiracy dumbass.

  • The blast was a result of the wings separating. derp

  • News man states " The wings seperated after the explosion" When in fact the main spar suffered a failure which then ignited the fuel tanks. SPAR FAILURE RESULTS IN EXPLOSION. There are so many rank amatuers reguarding aviation related incident/accidents.

  • cant fight fire with fire !

  • shit... if i was the president i'll honor them as heroes..

they were KIA... (killed in action) serving the people...

    horrible way to die...

  • This has to be the most ironic thing i've seen all week.

A water bomber fighting fire crashes and causes more fire.

  • @ElCapo is something worng with your mind! what if you were in there or watching it?!

  • @ElCapo every one thumb down his comment

  • Do you guys see this, a brave crew tries to save lives, and their terrible death is caught on camera... And now some stupid fags behind computers are making fun of that. These people where heros. Pisses me off to see sick fucks making rude stupid ass comments. Have some fuckin respect peasants...

RIP to all who were lost. Your bravery and honor will never be forgotton... May you live in internal peace and happiness with god and his angels... amen

  • This is really sad that people died in this crash

but the irony they were trying to put out fires..... instead they made one...

  • i hope noone got hurt

  • the crew and pilot didnt know that the wings failed. How could they? all they got was red lights and an uncontrolable airplane stress fracture and failure brought that plane down. very tragic

  • dropping the water means less weight, which results in a enormous lift. Because this plane drops en loads huge amounts of water al the time, fatigue occurs. Fatigue results in a terrible disaster. So it isn't a engineering fault. JUST check the condition of your plane more often !!!!!!! RIP crew

  • I don't understand the people who write grossly inappropriate comments.

  • This is really sad that people died in this crash, but i can't help saying WTF to how the wings just fell off...

  • terrible

  • To laugh at that is just wrong, 3 people died, imagine what their families must feel, then if they found out people were laughing about this, ... wow its just not right same on you laughers.

  • An explosion didn't cause the wings to seperate. It was structual failure caused by the stresses of flight.

  • maybe the c 130 doesn't have the structural rigidy for a specific amount of water =load

  • i remember watching the news when this happend around 2003-2005 i think it happend

  • omg!!! shocked!

  • lol aussie

  • This is serious?

  • alqaida must involved in this crash :D

  • There has to be a tremendous amount of strain on the wings to carry all that retardent. Makes sense really, the plane broke apart where there was the most strain. Sad.

  • True. So it was pilot error. Came in too fast and tried to level out suddenly. Its not a fighter jet for god sake

  • This is why over-engineering must be preferred to being cost effective.

  • OMG!

  • OMG that's so sad! when did that happen?

  • r.i.p this is so tragic

  • pooor people

they died hearoes saving peoples lives

  • Pilot was my good friend Steven Wass. C-130A's have had problems with stress related cracks on wing spars. Even this plane was checked and repaired, the spar gave up. RIP mate.

  • The plane did not explode in midair! The stress on the wings due to the load caused the wings to break off and this caused the fuel in the wings to ignite. A very sad day. Rest in peace.

  • DAM MAN.....

  • When I seen this on Tv i was like WTF that insane.

  • incredible:(

  • WTF !!!!

  • That's so tragically ironic.. :(

  • kudos to the crew of that aircraft , they were trying to save lives. I remember seeing this on BBC when it happpened.

  • what do you think?

  • Comment removed

  • OMG come cavolo hanno fatto a staccarsi le ali??

  • dang

    thats sad

  • I go by there a lot camping up in Sierras it is at border ofCA and NV along hwy 395 near Walker lake

  • how did it explode in mid air?

  • so sad vid, those guys died protecting other people. RIP

  • It didn't explode, the wings came of due to stress fractures weakening it when he tried to raise the plane.

  • why was there fire come out of the top?

  • they put fuel in the wings so they can put other things in the body of the plane. When the wings come off the fuel lines split and catch fire from the frictions heat.

  • Oh, ty

  • Did u not watch the video? Fire usually comes from an explosion. The wings didnt just fall off they were blown off from something that happened under them in the plane or something. Watch better next time.

  • i could be wrong but perhaps its due to the sudden loss of weight when the plane drops the water? putting the wings under pressure if it hits a heavy wind straight after dropping the water or something...

like i say i'm no expert i could be wrong.

  • Wing spar failure.

  • The US Air Force had the same problem during Desert Storm when they bringing C130s out of moth ball. The cause was stress cracks at the connection points. I believe they had two crash on take of from moth ball.

  • .................

  • uhhhhhh a little oxymoronic anyone??

  • I remember that fire season. Everything got grounded, heavies and SEATs, AP&P mechs got lots of OT doing inspections.

I think I remember an aviation manager saying something about a bag of weed found in the wreckage; hopefully they got a bong rip in before the spar folded.

  • Pity...

  • lol,, can't beat university education! XD

  • "the accident sparked more fires"

    well yea duh!!!

  • what are you laughing at you fag 3 people just died in this crash trying to stop a fire! i mean really who laughs at that!

  • you're such a dick. douboymk2

  • You're real cool mocking the dead. When one of your relatives die and people start laughing at you, then we'll see who finds it funny. You're pathetic.

  • Rest peacefully, our hearts go out to these folks familys

  • they were putting out fires aka saving lives and homes asshole.

  • they werent do stunts at all they were putting out a fire moron!

  • holy!

  • rip, they do great job

  • OUCH

  • now thay have another fire on there hands

  • IRONYYYYYYY

  • its like YAY WE STOPED THE FIRE!!! then its like damn it

  • thats too bad for them

  • rip crew fuck life is soo strange at times

  • Amen brother.

  • wow thats incredible

  • exploded during a mission to wash out fire? he made more fire and panic then the entire area blazing

  • what if u were on a plane and knew u would crash in 10 minutes.. what would u do? hmm i would just go around having sex with as many women as i can! ahahah

  • wiht their permission of course i would jump out while we were 11 minutes up and watch everyone else die and think about life for the last minute

  • what if there were no women on board?LOL

  • lol.. well idk about that..

  • Kind of Ironic isnt it? A fire fighting plane explodes and causes MORE fires?

    R.I.P crew

  • man think of what it was like being in that plane just dropping straight to the ground

  • alot of people cant do that

  • i blame terrorists

  • yes of course.terrorists always go for fire fighting planes dont they ?

  • I blame George Bush

  • what happened did they fill it up too much or something?

  • ok, not that this is all that funny but its pretty funny when he says all 3 of the people on board, its like it was some massacare of a death toll of like 7000

  • investagations show...the wings may have been made in china!

  • what investigations are you speaking about? The wings are the best keeped and most secret design of an aircraft. Many parts can be constructed in other countries, but NEVER the wings. And never in China, of course.

  • i know i know i was just trying to add a tiny bit of humour to brighten the scene

    RIP crew onboard

  • thx

  • What was it dropping?

  • real nightmare

  • Disturbing video, not sure why you'd want to put it up on youtube.

  • Commentary was wrong on almost every point. #1 the wings seperated from the fusalage causing the explosion because the fuel tanks are in the wings. #2 you hear the explosion AFTER the crash because sound travels slower than light. #3. What caused the wing to fail (besides metal fatigue) is that the airframe can withstand higher g-loads when it is heavier, and if you notice, the wings broke AFTER the retardant was realeased. God rest the souls of the pilots and crew. Breaks my heart.

  • all you said was correct, however another aparrent and what I have been told was the thermal currents caused the wings to snap off as they were pushed beyond there limits.

  • Yes, that could be so and in agreement with my thoughts. Aircraft have what is known a "maneuvering speed" at which full and abrupt inputs can be made on the controls without doing damage to the aircraft. However this speed goes down the lighter the a/c. My thought was that the aircraft was flying right on the edge of maneuvering speed with the full load of retardant and as the load was released, the aircraft was flying beyond safe maneuvering speed and overstressed the wings.

  • holy fuck :O just goes to show that planes can be unpredictable

  • The anchor speaks as though he were reporting yesterday's lottery numbers.

  • i bet the people on the plane hoping to extinguish the fire were all like "Whoa did'nt see that coming................"

  • hahahaha! now you can all thumbs me down to make yourselves feel better!

But laughter is trhe only way to understand something on the deepest of all levels, and if you can't do that, you should be ashamed of yerselves!!!

    hehe sparked more fires

  • fatigue was the cause.

    FAA reports.

  • probable cause: the inflight failure of the right wing due to fatigue cracking in the center wing lower skin and underlying structural members. A factor contributing to the accident was inadequate maintenance procedures to detect fatigue cracking.

  • Its tragic you were given the gift of life.. Why didn't your parents practice safe sex? Incredibly selfish of them.

  • I agree with you. There are many mother fuckers here, and mentally handicapped.

  • can some1 tell what really happend.

  • wow what they did didnt help

  • wow brilliant futage, sorry to the families that had to fight through this really sorry. R.I.P

  • i think its kinda funny that they crashed and started more fires trying to put out fires!

  • when i fist saaw that i thought it was a computer simulatro thing...but i guesss its true

  • slolo420 you have made a fool of yourself with your comments.

  • psml

  • How did the wing come off?
