technically, no.. you can't find a forged piston set for this engine. however, if you know what you're doing, you can have a custom set made for $700-800. I guess the bottom line is: with enough money, anything is possible :p
i was wondering i have a 2008 civic lx i wanna get a muffler its automatic still would it even sound good or wat and could i get an estimate on how much a transmission swap would be or would it be worth it cuz i wanna get a turbo or should i just stay auto and put the turbo on?
so not to beat the MPH / KPH argument to death but... listen to the shifting... I use KPH on my 09 Civic (no engine mods) and I know that when I hit redline in 2nd gear im at 95 KPH... this car doesn't hit 95 untill the 4th gear so... either this is the worlds slowest civic or it's reading MPH :)
your tune is bad. well, actually the tune might be okay. Butta you gotta clamp the MAF sensor so the ECU does not actually see the real MAF readings. If the MAF is not properly clamped, it will put the car into limp mode everytime you spool up.
and the r18 doesnt have cracked rods, well my car had problem with a hose it was losing oil but a little bit maybe it contibuted for damaging that rod
This design holds better due to increased resistance to rod bolt / stud failure. Think of it this way -> if you mold two pieces of glass separately then try to join them together, it'd be almost impossible to get a perfect fit, whereas if you break one solid piece of glass just right, the jagged ends that result will fit together quite nicely :)
There is a actuator behind the turbo manifold. It's a rod with hole on one side and the rest is threaded. There is a retainer clip you need to take off so the rod comes off the turbo manifold. Then you can unscrew the actuator. You want to make the rod slightly longer, which causes the wastegate to close a little more when you spool up, thus not allowing you to go over 10 psi or so. So make it about 3-5 threads longer. Then see where you're at. Gotta take the heat shield off to get to it.
ok apostle my tuner told me that he has to use the other software with six maps and he is the best here in venezuela and he will correct that electronic problem but thaks a lot
Without knowing anymroe, I would almost guarantee you have a tuning problem. You need to find a tuner who can actually do the AEM F/IC. It's very diffciult to tune properly and shouldn't be done by just anyone. Find a better tuner :)
BTW, my name is Apostle, on the 8th civic forums. Join up, you'll get lots of help from us there.
yeah adam i have to sut it off because it runs but only to 3500 rpm and you cant accelearte it more so i have to shut it off and then it gets normally i have the maf sensor connected correctly maybe is the basemap i have six maps in my aem but the person who tuned it used 4 maps so what do you think but it is the same aem
idk i think thats in kph can't tell for sure, but i also have an 08 lx with some shit and it gets a little over 100mph in 4th gear but it sounds like he shifts from 3rd to 4th and lets off. i don't think he can be going 90 somethin at the top of 3rd gear... too much
It's boosted...it has a turbo. It's kind of obvious when you hear him push on the throttle...lol. Besides that, you can tell where the MPH is; along with that it says "MPH" instead of "KPH" in a weird font above the normal MPH position [which it is in the mph position].
as a matter of fact that is in MPH i know because ive get an ex and i do 105 KPH in 2nd gear he clearly shifts to 4th gear just before he hits 100 itl hav to be MPH
lmao. um above the mph is the Kph..like RIGHT ABOVE. It is on every civic from 06+. His car has a TSI turbo, hes on 8thgencivic lol. If you click the MPH to KPH you will realize that it does change to go right above where the MPH is. lol.
well i lost my good paying job and now im only bring 10 a hour...and i have to pay for school and i have to pay for my apartment...and im paying for my car so im thinking just put it up for sale and as soon as someone buys it i can just pay off that lx and have no worries and then ill have some cash for that turbo...but im thinking just to get a 4 door and doing it...
alright koo man because i cant afford my si anymore so ill looking just buy a lx and just put the my lip and my rims and other stuff that can fit on it and im planning just to boost as well...
Not for real. I did blow away a 3000GT though. And I walked a new GT mustang on the highway. But I got an oil burn issue that will be resolved soon, and then I will get a fine tune(it's real rich right now). Then I will take it to a track for times and I'll post my dyno numbers
10 psi on this motor with this turbo is safe. It's a small turbo so the overall cfm on the intake isn't too rough for the motor. I don't have the weapon R, but I know a guy who is about to install it, and we'll see what happens with his turbo.
so is it safe to run 10 psi on that motor??? or do you have that weapon-r intake manifold??? i heard its suppose to give you more hp well thats what procivic said...idk

Im thinking about boosting my civic. Mines an auto tho would a turbo kit have the same effect on mine as it does a stick?

How i have to connect the AEM ECU to the engine, there is a peak in the AEM ecu might to be connected to the engine how?
iyif28 2 years ago
Today maybe i will put a video of my car with The TSI kit Thanks
iyif28 2 years ago
thanks but how can i clamp the maf sensor? now the car is runing ok and it doesnt having smoke in the exhaust
iyif28 2 years ago
I fixed my car but now it is hanging at 3500 rpm how can i correct that?

@iyif28 have you fixed the hang? @3500
is it the MAF sensor not properly clamped? or not properly tuned?

r18a1 comes with cracked rods stronger than k20
watchforfinger 3 years ago
I'm confused. Can you explain what you mean by cracked rods? or were you be facecious?
AdamWirtz2001 3 years ago
no my friend, i sware i run by 14 psi not engine light and one rod broked and i have to get lower the psi of the turbo and i dont know how
iyif28 3 years ago
@AdamWirtz2001 a "cracked" rod is a good thing.
This design holds better due to increased resistance to rod bolt / stud failure. Think of it this way -> if you mold two pieces of glass separately then try to join them together, it'd be almost impossible to get a perfect fit, whereas if you break one solid piece of glass just right, the jagged ends that result will fit together quite nicely :)
mamunoz916 2 months ago
yeah i broked it now i am finding one, it damage the piston too i have now the piston
iyif28 3 years ago
another question do you have in your r18 forged pistons and forged rods?
iyif28 3 years ago
What? You broke a rod? Are you sure? I have stock internals. I don't think any forged pistons exist for the engine.
AdamWirtz2001 3 years ago
@AdamWirtz2001 lol nothing exists for our engines yet! it sucks

now i have a problem i broke a rod and i dont know if it was for oiling or too much psi?
iyif28 3 years ago
i want to put it at 10 psi how?
iyif28 3 years ago
There is a actuator behind the turbo manifold. It's a rod with hole on one side and the rest is threaded. There is a retainer clip you need to take off so the rod comes off the turbo manifold. Then you can unscrew the actuator. You want to make the rod slightly longer, which causes the wastegate to close a little more when you spool up, thus not allowing you to go over 10 psi or so. So make it about 3-5 threads longer. Then see where you're at. Gotta take the heat shield off to get to it.

ok the wastegate is not working fine

hi apostle my friend i tuned already my ecu but my garret is making 14 psi it is so much how can i mind the boost ??

I really don't know what my 1/4 mile is. Probably not very good actually, because my tires suck and It really needs a LSD.
But I am putting full coilovers on in 2 weeks(already bought them) that should make traction a little better. (more for auto X though)
AdamWirtz2001 3 years ago

those were kph... I have the same car and you can switch mph to kph with a push of a button.
ChrisTripp 3 years ago
No. Those are mph. Are you calling into question whether or not I put a turbo on the car? They would be a lot hire if I had it on kph.
AdamWirtz2001 3 years ago
dude, look at the street lamps. they are not going over 100 mph
ChrisTripp 3 years ago
You're funny.
AdamWirtz2001 3 years ago
well you made the vid so i'm not going to argue with you, but it really doesn't look like it in the vid.
ChrisTripp 3 years ago
The mph is on the bottom, and kph is in the middle. It clearly shows the mph on the bottom of the speedo, so you're wrong.
DrnknBndr 3 years ago
wtf are you talking about?... i have this car. it only displays the mph or the kph at a time, on the bottom is the rpm,
so stfu since you obviously don't know what you're talking about
ChrisTripp 3 years ago
The bottom right of the speedo is where the MPH would be, and the mid right of it would be where KPH is. Obviously you need to be more observant.
DrnknBndr 3 years ago
dude... you're not reading what i wrote. YES that is how most cars are. but not the civic. just stfu dude, go look at a picture of the dash

kcivic06 3 years ago
why can't you afford the si anymore? if you're planning on boosting and downgrading to an lx, why not just keep the si?
But I do get much better gas mileage. that is one positive I suppose. I can still get 30 mpg with boost.
AdamWirtz2001 3 years ago
thats kool have you race any cars yet???
kcivic06 3 years ago
Not for real. I did blow away a 3000GT though. And I walked a new GT mustang on the highway. But I got an oil burn issue that will be resolved soon, and then I will get a fine tune(it's real rich right now). Then I will take it to a track for times and I'll post my dyno numbers
