  • Lovely idea! Back in the seventeen and eighteen hundreds small children were given precious presents like violins, so why not now?

Plus I would say if a two year old is ready to learn to potty train with their own potty, that shows they are ready both to take responsibility both of learning a new procedure and of caring for a new possession. Granted a potty isn't a violin but it's the principle that counts, I think.

A violin is a real instrument! Ask Paganini!!!

  • I play violin now, but if I were given a violin at that age I'd probably would have chewed on it.

  • @iCheesey It has happened. Wood is durable.

  • @TheProfessionalMom ew I just realized I typed "I'd probably would have"... Anyway, I guess as long as it makes sound and is sound right?

  • What are you going to do when he leaves it out over the weekend in the sandbox?

  • @Sylderon That hasn't been an issue for us. He takes really good care of it, and now that his sister is old enough to play with it, she does too. They both respect the instrument.

  • Once they're done with the violin, in a few years upgrade them to real instrument, like a viola. But, really, that's excellent to spark an enjoyment in playing at such a young age.

  • @Carbonclone You must be a viola player. Haha, your comment made me laugh. Well, I won't argue that the viola is a real instrument, and truthfully, my best friend plays the viola.

  • @TheProfessionalMom Indeed. Both instruments are wonderful, and similar enough that your child could easily switch between them once they are older as their preferences dictate. It's always nice to give them options, and the world needs more violists anyway. :)

  • @Carbonclone

No, no, no. For it to be an upgrade, it has to be a step up.

  • Soren is the best

  • PFFFT, I started when I was only 2 months old.

  • @smackknot 2 months old? Fretless bass player here since one month old.

  • My 2 year old wants a violin as well, I can't wait to get her one!
