  • Nice. I love watching vids of this solo cus every one puts their own spin on it

  • when you turned the volume down on the guitar for a cleaner sound, that was epic :P

  • NICE NICE NICE NICE SOUND MAN

  • Where could i get the backing track ?? thanks in advance :)

  • sounds great!!!.....more delay on there than i would use personally but that is pretty close to what gilmour used delay wise

  • loved it! Please keep sharing

  • For people who say this has no feeling, GET SOME FUCKING EARS!

  • 121 people eat dick every day

  • this is Angus Young hiding himself doing covers....

  • What's that drive your using? It sounds just amazing!!!

  • Very nice.

I used to play a little acoustic when I was younger and had talent, but always with borrowed guitars. I've been wanting to get an electric lately at 40+ years old to mess around with just for MY pleasure and I am curious.

Do you guys sound these out, or is there a tablature of these classics? Do you need to know how to read music etc..

Looking for some head start on learning and re-learning some of the classics. Used to do folk and Jazz on acoustic, but had a knack for improv leads.

  • @Databyter Im 49 heading towards 50, but when I figured this solo out I did it be ear. Tablature wasn't to popular back then. If I were you I would use a combination of both.

  • @markmusicman Thanks for the advice. I'm looking into guitars now but I am ignorant about electrics.

  • @Databyter

Hey, I can only recommend to get guitar pro (version 5 works fine too for that) and download and play to so many songs you love and like until you can literally think in tabs (sounds extreme) this helped me for instance a damn lot!

Actually, I learned the "whole" music theory from gp5 and I'm so happy about it. If you have fun with that (and it is fun ;) ) you'll see it's not too hard to sound things out (as long as you can repeat it as often as you like :D )

    Have fun, Cheers

  • @80sMeavyHetal I use many methods to learn myself, I use to do it all by ear. I use pdf books, Guitar Pro , Power tab, Video lessons, and I also use windows media player to slow things down when I am having issues with a fast part. I use to use reel to reel machines back in the 70s everything would be one octave lower which made it pretty tough windows media player works great for slowing things down now. Guitar Pro is a great tool I have to agree with 80sMeavyHetal.

  • @80sMeavyHetal Thanks for your advice. I took a gander at that program and it seems complicated. But I'm sure after I get back into the swing of music it will all be useful. Right now I am trying to learn what electric Guitars will be good choices for me. I never had an electric back in the day. Just acoustics. Now I have a sharp learning curve at Best Buy.

  • Excellent performance maestro, anyone out there who does not like it, is a retard who is not capable to post anything in here because the lack of experience and discipline in the music industry plus they do not have the ability to do Sh@#$ in life!

  • Excellent performance maestro, anyone out there who doe snot like it is a retard who is not capable to post anything in here because they do not have the ability to do Sh@#$ in life!

  • This made me cry.

  • !!!!!!ATTENTION!!!!!

    hello, sorry for the capitalisation!

my friend is starting a guitar solo channel. not shreddy, but kind of trying to bring back the blues into rock.

his team is still editing the first video, but it should be on youtube within days!

you can get there by putting '/gibsonfx' after youtube.com

    THANK YOU

  • nice work man I really don't understand those 121 people

  • @IzelDizel95 The people who criticizes so much on youtube usually are people who loves to watch the parade but not being able to be part of it, so that means they are retards and have no ability to play anything in their entire life, they are just a bunch of ignorants and loosers!!!!

  • @vzuani 100% agreed anyways do not care those loosers, if I have learned something up to here in my life that is not to listen people like them cause no one can know you better than you do KEEP IT UP the way you know

  • Great cover, with a nice personal touch to it.

  • Ok you will never be Gilmour or Petrucci neither me. So what? That's a great solo cover i liked what heard there. Excellent job. Keep rockin' dude.

  • Man, the tone of the guitar is SICK! What are you using for a set up? Your strat sound great, too.

  • I have to agree it does sound a tad digital but otherwise great feel, and playing. Check out my cover if you got the time! :)

  • Epix let me try to copy:p o wait I can't cuz I'm not that good yet:ppp

  • You turn on your pedals and their direct effects pedals in a PA system?

  • all youre videos sound great.....find a girl who can sing and write and make some music history.....ala Stevie and Linsey...

  • the funny thing is i just watched you play a strat on a jimmy page solo, now you are playing the sg on a gilmour solo, you're nuts!!! haha. nice job amist the confusion tho! you wierdo!!!

  • Lol Geia4 Probably made 120 different accounts and just disliked this video because there is no one else out there that can possibly think this was worse then "Pretty Good" considering it was MIND BLOWING!

  • SHOW YOUR FACE MAAN! SHOW YOUR FACE!

  • Best version on youtube. Not because of copying everything perfectly from the original, but because of capping the feel and adding your own licks to it. This is how youtube guitar covers should look like.

  • really nice..:)

  • @huskym6 poo

  • amazing! well done!

  • Hey great job man i really think your changes to the solo gave it a different feel

and check out my version! :)

    /watch?v=LsYZ1vP1JJs

  • Nice job, even though I would have expected a more nervous play for this unforgettable solo.

  • Comment removed

  • people are looking around for perfection.. music doesn't need to be perfect, but interpreted..

you are a good interpreter of it.. you own great instrumentation: I saw powerful speakers, a nice mixer, but mainly a great Gibson (same one of angus young's). And you can play good.. nice and pleasant sound..

I wish I could play like you..

  • Man this is just insane, i've also seen your stairway to heaven cover and can't wait to get round to whatever other ones you've done! :D

  • The playing is great, don't listen to ,,guitar no-lifes", they play around 23 hours/day, and they hate everything around.

Great playing, everyone has got different feeling.

The only thing I can judge here, is the sound. Sounds beautiful, but very digital.

  • @Seledin16 I think I may be in the Matrix.

  • @markmusicman

    Haha, I bet so!

Really great feeling. Keep rocking and NEVER stop!

  • @markmusicman damn good matrix then!

  • @Seledin16 i think hes recording through line input and using all those digital effect boards which make it sound digital. The solo makes everything reavealed too.

  • 118 people are not badass on the guitar

  • i love this tone.......what gear do you use and what are the effects in play?

  • I don't comment on YouTube videos often, but when I do, I'm fucking pissed.

Everyone giving shit to this guy because he's "not using a fender" or "there's no drums" in the backing track must seriously reconsider what they're saying. This is MUSIC. One thing about music is that you can do anything you want. What's wrong with using different equipment or hell, even arranging an acoustic cover??

If you want strats and drums, listen to the album. If you want interpretation, listen to this guy.

  • David Gilmour wants his hand back ok?

  • Trololol....?

  • Amazing there´s like 200 negative comments of the backing track??? a mean this is the SOLO no the backing track video. Also if you have problem with this version YOU SHOULD DO YOUR OWN VERSION.

  • wow. sounds real nice.

    i really liked it

  • Cool solo one of the best and yes it was good btw nice guitar

  • Awesome. I wish there was a way I could download your skill into my brain like in the Matrix lol and bypass all the hours you probably spent learning guitar.

  • 118 deaf and dumb!

THIS IS THE BEST MUSIC EVER....

  • I need some tissue as I just had an EARGASM

  • good sound

  • I love how you ended the solo.

  • /watch?v=vADjBjG60mQ

Check mine please and say what you think:)

  • Man, forget all the haters! They just found some excuses to justify the fact that they can't play that way! So they just try do "destroy" you with stupid appointment. Very good job! Can you please see my vid? P.S. sorry for my english, I'm italian!

  • Thank you fellow, you made my day.DO you have somekind of hint for beginners?Such how to get music, understnad it's logic, etc.

  • why do you play stairway to heaven on a strat and this on a sg? :D

  • Best cover i found. Nice tune.

by the way check my video :P

    youtube.com/watch?v=V4F_nBAId2A

  • What effects are you using on this video? Pretty good version!

  • Pretty well done, specially when considering this is played on a hardtail !!! :-)

  • Man you know how to deal with your haters or half- haters lolol

  • Great my friend,just great.

  • Wow! This is fantastic. Really great, it has inspired me loads. You are a great guitarist, keep on playing ;)

  • beautiful

  • Man I wish I could favorite this 100 more times. Sounds awesome!! If I can play like that some day, I will finally say I can play a guitar.

  • Amazing Picking, Great Tone, Overall Great Cover! Very professional Dude!

  • i liked how you made it your own style,, really good cover and amazing tone, can you give me feedback on mine if you have time?? id really appreciate it,

  • Amazing! Thank you!!! Just one question: did you find the backing track on the internet or made it yourself?

  • my favorite david gilmour solo ... nice work

  • great love how u play dave's solos with sg and and stairway with strat :DDD rock on dude :D

  • I Stopped My Porn for this

  • You're a great player! And the way you respond to hate comments is amazing! Truly one with accomplishment!

  • Since you play a lot of Gilmour's stuff how about play his lapsteel guitar solo "High Hopes". You do play lapsteel...don't you?

  • pretty good you should teach the solo

  • Wonderful ending.

  • GREAT!!!! YOU FUCKIN' ROCK!! LONG LIVE PINK FLOYD!

  • Asif there are so many haters on the internet!!!

This solo is 10x better played then any of yous can play it!!!

Hes not David Gilmour just a fan who likes to play the music

Keep up the good work mark.

  • HEY MEN, CONGRATULATIONS. SUPERB.

  • Hey Mark ,

you shoud've played this solo on a start . Would've been a lot closer to gilmour's tone

  • Mark....

    Great stuff man!

Thanks for putting this on. The only "bad" thing is....now I realize how much practice I need! :)

    Happy Easter.

  • check mine

  • its sick that you actually answer people when your videos have this many views, thanks! your awesome, best on youtube

  • i love your tone i love your guitar and your effects on it ...very nice man i admire you!

    what is your setup?

  • @geia4 My guitar was a bit out of tune with the backing track , and I also bent the note a bit sharp which added to the problem. I could do another version of this using a good backing track but it is what it is. Oh well, it still sounds pretty good.

  • @geia4 Well all I can tell you is don't listen to it, there are all kinds of other covers out there for you to check out. Have fun man!

  • @geia4 get the stick out of you're ass. it was MORE than pretty good.

  • @geia4 If you wan't a perfect solo don't listen to a fucking COVER of it lmfao, you're the most retarded person I've ever met.

  • @geia4 Playing both violin and guitar, I can say that there can be inconsistencies like that when playing and even the best players make them, it makes music all the more organic and I don't think the vibe of the solo suffered from it...nice playing btw keep it up!

  • @geia4 wow youre a freaking idiot. *Cough* TROLL! *cough* *cough* TROOOOOLLLL!!!!

  • @geia4 lol talking about people with no life, cmon man, post one yourself, its not like the end of the world, he is free to post it, and it was good, not gilmour-good but still fine.

  • @geia4 suck dick no ones likes you thats why people like this comment. GREAT guitar playing ;)

  • @markmusicman

Don't let people like geia4 get to you. I constantly come back looking for your stuff. You are hands down one of the most talented posters I've seen. I wish I even had 1/100th of your talent.

  • @markmusicman absolutely cool and very relaxed, I'd be very interested to learn what you 'rig' set up comprises of??

  • @markmusicman Sir,

Out of tune or not, this was great work. I just pulled out my PRS and snatched my son's Mustang 3 out of his room. Wish I knew what effects you used. I guess I'll have to try them all.

Have a Great Day! Keep posting your work.

    t

  • @geia4 I want to see a video of yourself playing this solo. This guy is pretty much one of the best guitarists on YouTube so I'd like to see you top this.

  • @geia4

Geia4, if you are so god damn pro then fkin play it your self, Markmusicman did a good job there, stop being a total douchebag.... you prolly dont know shit about playing guitar anyway....

  • @geia4 Dude, even Gilmour himself doesn't bend each note completely spot-on.

  • Comment removed

  • Dude you are awqesome... :D please check my channel and look for my cover and tell me what i need dude, i will be very happy :p

Pd: i dont have the 6th string, so i adjust the solo to a 5 string solo :p i just modified the solo a bit, obviously without missing the style of it (: Thx n_n

  • incredible

  • Dude do you know how muchi didn't realize that you was the man who plays staiaway to heaven solo,Maybe i've it watched 100 or more times, you are great man, very nice playing

  • ciccio io sono italiano e parlo come cazzo voglio...capito??prova a parlare tu in italiano e vedi cosa significa ignorante...!!!

  • non capite proprio quello che voglio dire...non pensate proprio!!

  • forse non capite che è come fare una canzone di chiesa con gli effetti di un dj...non è il semplice fatto che usa una gibson...cambia tutto!!

  • Can anybody believe that this is the 4th greatest solo! And Freebird got 3rd place and Eruption got 2nd. Those are good solos, but they can't match this in anyway! This should be 2nd or even 1st. It's hard to compare Stairway to Heaven and this.

  • great solo!!!!!!

  • You're guitarsound is amazing, man! Promise me that you never change it in this song, wow!

  • @stock500 They don't call me Mr. pink or Pinky for no reason.

  • @stock500 i think it sounds aweeesome on the gibson i understand your concept but dude u gotta admit tht this music gives u a really good feelin well it does me n thts all tht matters keep rockin guys

  • @stock500 eat shit you can't even comprehend proper music.

  • @stock500 with the rig Gilmor uses the guitar makes no difference, you sound like the twats who think J Page used a Les Paul on Stairway to Heaven

  • @stock500 With the rig Gilmor uses the guitar makes little difference, ask Snowy White. You sound like a twat who thinks Stairway to Heaven was recorded with a Les Paul

  • @stock500 Idiot

  • @stock500 uhhh no he wouldn't. and yes you can with a gibson... i just did faggot. besides if u know how then it doens't matter what guitar you use. so what... gilmour used a fender... we use gibsons... do you know what a coil tap is? would do the same thing except for the fact that gibsons have a much warmer and sweeter tone.

  • @stock500 You sir, are a watermelon. Never make diss somesones choice in guitar no matter what they're playing. Using a Stratocaster in a sense isn't being origanel, Gilmour used one. I think Gilmour would prefer to see covers that're different then just a bunch of people trying to be exactly like him. Who cares if the tone isn't EXACTLY the same, better to be a rebel than go with the flow.

  • @stock500 you are an asshole, believe me, gilmour owns more gibsons that the amount of cum comes out of your penis in your entire life

  • @stock500 you are an asshole, believe me, gilmour owns more gibsons than* the amount of cum comes out of your penis in your entire life

    sorry for the mistakeXD

  • @stock500 hey mr. ASSHOLE the best cover of this solo is Thomas75s cover and it's made with a les paul so shut the fuck up --'

  • @stock500 haha your the biggest moron i've ever seen. if your gonna criticise, at least put some effort in making yourself sound at least half smart. you can't even speak english properly

  • @stock500 You are a world class bafoon, the original comfortably numb solo recorded for The Wall was recorded using a 59 gold top les paul, it was the only guitar that gilmour trusted to gim him "that" tone and sustain. His guitar tech guy put it straight into the desk and gave a treble boost to mimic a strat. Saying Gilmour would vomit at a Gibson being used is ridiculous, hes pretty modern actually, he even used headstock-less guitars like steingberger when he did guest work.

  • @stock500 gibson whip the shit out of strats any day strats are so fuckin generic they are all the same .... everything is better on a gibson

  • @stock500 What are hell you talking about, this solo sounds amazing no matter what fucking guitar it's played on.

  • @stock500 he played another brick in the wall pt.2 with a les paul

  • @stock500 if Mr Gilmour read this comment he will probably vomit...do u know that David has played les pauls in the past ?

  • @stock500 so ur sugesting he has to buy a different guitar for every song he plays or else he cant play it????

  • @stock500 wheres your video response to back up what your saying? this guy is god with his tone and covers and you have to pick out one tiny flaw, find something better to do! great cover!!

  • @stock500

oh come on...so i only have a gibson but i wanna play this solo,so what, i have to go to the store and buy a fucking fender just to play one solo??people also have fenders and play Slash´s solos on them, not having a gibson...so stfu

  • @stock500 Ummm... David Gilmour Plays a Les Paul a lot...An SG is essentially the same as a Les Paul except it is not as warm and thick... I'm sure Gilmour would be honoured to see this video.

  • @stock500 90% of the sound comes from the player, not the guitar. Any musician will tell you that...

  • @stock500

Really? so we have to buy a specific guitar for every single solo? LOL You're so funny !

  • @stock500 Show's you how much you know......the solo to "Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2" was done on a gold-top Les Paul...

  • One of the best cover's i've ever heard .Hats off to you sir .

But there is one thing , you should've used your strat for this solo . Would've been sharper

  • the solo is really bad

  • @stock500 why are you here you must be near the river where justin beever is

  • @stock500 Sorry that not all solos are a bunch a random notes fired off at 500bpm's.......

  • could you please identify

the pickups you use.. and basic pedals??

    amp?? great tone

  • @floyd6569 a gibson sg standard uses the 498r in the neck and 498t in the bridge. that's just fomr memory tho on the bridge, i changed mine. i now have a JB in the bridge position, still have the pickup somewhere... pedals, probably a distortion pedal for those who need high gain without the fuzz of those nasty cheap end marshall amps. *go blackstar ^_^ * reverb, maybe a slight bit of delay too...

  • ЭТО ШКЛЯРСКИЙ !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 100%!!!! Покрайней мере гитара его )))))) а вот тадов на гитпре не хватает чуток, но все ровно охуительно, молодец!!))

  • @Garosarik ку родной

  • thats a mighty nice gibson sg. whats your sound setup? its solid :D

  • sg sounds nice

  • Super Men!!!

  • Man, you're a real inspiration for me. It was seeing your Time video about a year and a half ago which made me pick you my guitar (and properly introduced me to Floyd), and start learning it again. Now I can never put the thing down, and I have learned pretty much every Pink Floyd songs. If it wasnt for your video's I may have never started playing again, and more Importantly I would not have been introduced Floyd, who have greatly changed my life forever. Thanks for everything:)

  • Some very smooth playing nice take a look at my version if you can thanks

  • is this difficult?

  • Sei bravissimo :)

  • @markmusicman What effects pedals are you using ?

  • Great job =)

  • The camera can't stand the awesomeness of the song (!!) and gets out of focus instantly and for milliseconds at 0:40. :)

  • hese really good. however the sg just doesnt sound right with this perticular solo

  • You are really great man... I just have one question... Where can i find the rythm music that you guys are using?? I am really a new player, and i know some solos and stuff, but i think that the rythm music can really help me a lot... Thank's man in advance!! Keep rocking!!!

  • it sounds alot like tony iommi playing :) thats a good thing

  • 109 ladies sucked my dick while watching this vid and well... i'll spare the next part:) but this is so good!

  • god needs to hear this.

  • nice tone

  • Awesome! Gotta say you must have some big mitts to play that on an SG with it's 2x4 neck!

  • @jackedhorse really? i have large hands but not as big as my mates and he finds my sg's neck's frets too small. he has super jumbos O.o

  • And omfg this guys tone is fucking incredible bro, you've gotta let us in on the EQ's man!

  • Make Stairway to heaven's solo with a Fender Stratocaster and Comfortably Numb's one with a SG Gibson... Strange but remains amazing =)

  • @Totolegrateux Actually, the Stairway to Heaven solo was recorded on a Tele.

  • @Totolegrateux Actually, Jimmy Page played the Stairway solo on a Fender... a Tele, but anyway!

  • @Totolegrateux AFAIK Stairway's solo is on a tele... and Gilmour used a lot of LP style guitars on his recording, though not CN

  • @Totolegrateux Actually the Stairway to Heaven was recorded with a Fender telecaster so a strat would be

better to get the sound with than an gibson :)
