That must be hard to just hold back and go lightley on kicks amd punches.Specialy when it's teaching you to end fights quickly.Good luck to both of you,I am just learning it.And it's contagious so much to want to learn.
@MrJimbox2010 Out of all the comments, you are the only one to comment on that. Its MUCH more difficult to pull your punches and kicks that close than to follow thru with them. Thanks. Good luck to you in your training. I hope you progress and continue to feel inspired.
@pjkiger Thanks, thats pretty much all it was. Thank you, its a tricky kick to execute sometimes.... Ive gotten back into work out shape again since this video was shot. I really need to record some new videos. ha. We were thinking the same thing about the contrast when we played it back.
I am not going to hate.. just watching some Saturday half sparring.. In street wear is good so you can get the feel in real clothes like on the street
Consider we were aiming for about 6 inches infront of the face with all attacks.
I know its a little unrealistic but we wernt butt hurt if it we hit each other. we'll make some with padding on here soon that will be more realistic.
Yes, I am the white guy. I know a little wing chun. I wouldnt call myself proficient in it as an art, but I understand some of its principles and I know Sil lum tao.
I also practice push hands and sticky hands on occasion. Thanks!
@MusicisMYlife210 your right. I could have followed that block with a kick. Very good point. I need to throw more combos and be a little more active. Although I tend to counter fight.
ohh i see i realize hat im just a begginer so i proboblly dont know a whole lot yet lol. the iron body is in all forms and styles but when we do it we focus on the advanced exercises for it all day long instead of doing the forms so yeah thanks for replying.
Alright. The Iron suit technique does come SOME from your forms, but mainly from impact training. Iron palm, shin, forarms, come from impact training. I practice forms for more reasons than I can think of or understand currently. Ive noticed people who practice forms tend to have cleaner more powerful punches and kicks, and the ability to move better than those who dont. Being cleaner is what is all about. Technique is nothing if its not consistent or clean. Its like tattooing. Alot like.
why do people draw? thats why people do forms. so that way when that client walks in and says they want a rose with a name on it, and trust me, youll get a 1000 of them, then you can draw it blind folded. Same thing. You just wouldnt hand a guy a tattoo machine, you just wouldnt walk into the ring. I mean, sure you could, but its gonna be messy. Forms are to teach a certain rythm and freestyle rythm. Everything is for a reason!
tthat was pretty cool guys im only a yellow sash but i noticed that you rarely block your face i only say that because my sifu always hits us in the face if we dont block the face. i noticed you bouwed right to few people care to take the time for that. i almost got killed by a black belt for bouwing like that i didnt know what it meant at the time.but anyway ihave some queations what rank are you?whas the black guy stopping a couple of times because of the diffrence in iron body training?
Let me Address everything in your comment one thing at a time. Thank you.
Blocking isnt needed if you arnt within distance. Its much faster and more effective to slip, parry, and counter. Dont worry, you'll understand later. Its hard to hit something that istn there though.
I dont understand what your talking about with the bowing. What Rank am I? In what style? Difference in Iron Body Training? Body Conditioning is in all styles. This is controlled sparring, thus control.
i know he changed the name to tangs martial arts school. Wow! someting ugly must have happened....because master lee started that school in bradenton and used to come visit many times during the year as well as master mar. how do you like training in the dallas school?
I love training here. I wish I could afford to go to class. I feel bad coming to class and not having money for the whole month. Yes, something ugly. From the way GM Lee explained it after I returned from Florida here recently was that he disrespected GM Lee and Marr, Grand Master Yeh, and My Jhong Law Horn Tradition. I believe there are two other of Grand Master Lees students in Florida. The other school In the Brandenton area, and Andy Cheung who teaches Bagua down in Broward County.
nice video. i too trained in my jhong law horn for two years ....great kung-fu style. i am curious to how well my jhong practicioners faired against Karate and Tae kwon do in point sparring matches
Usually well if practice your techniques properly, execute them properly and keep your circular motion of ring control, and odd attack angles in mind. I could go into the straight line vs a circle vs using freestyle debate but wont. There are always exceptions to the rules. Never Underestimate Your Opponent.
u guys look pretty good. just one thig for the wing chun guy. u have good defense against the high kicks but u need to do a few thing dif. get in ur strongest stance and make sure ur knees r bent. keep ur hands up and wait for it. then whenever anything comes at u lift ur lead leg cover ur head and then block react and hit. also u keep coming in to hit after the guy backs up from his kick. thats too late hit him as he comes in, stop his force. also high kicks r gay.

im not telling you suck but heres some food for thought:
1:31 Wing Chun guys mid section was wide open, you could've followed that block with a kick.
1:40 good combo
3:20 nice Low-Hi kick My Jhong guy, i couldnt tell if you were too far away or not, but he def didnt see that one coming lol.
there also seemed to be alot more kicks than punches
did the white guy know wing chun as well? please dont make this as me being a douchbag, i just love kung fu and figured you guys wanted some feedback

black guy, all your attempts at grabbing his foot didn't work right? just down block and come in for a punch. it'll be way more successful.
