I often wonder how they got the church to agree to let them do this scene. But I guess New Zealand people are better at coping with this sort of thing.

They might not have. It's hardly impossible that they built the inside of a church on a soundstage, and just shot some footage of the outside.

I know other movies have done precisely this when they found that either no churches would let them shoot inside, or they simply couldn't find a church to accomodate their film equipment.

I have no idea if this is what they actually did, just pointing out the possibility.

Definitely possible, but this movie didn't have the biggest budget - and if that's a set then it's a really, really good one.

Religion isn't as full-on down this way.
