apparently the record company that paid for this album was so disappointed that saves the day wrote something they wanted to write instead writing what they were expected to write, the record company disowned the album. this is one reason why this is my favorite album. plus its so weird.

apparently the record company that paid for this album was so disappointed that saves the day wrote something they wanted to write instead writing what they were expected to write, the record company disowned the album. this is one reason why this is my favorite album. plus its so weird.

this is emo, but not the emo that most people think of. before emo was a gay style, it was a type of music. like jimmy eat world, they are considered the first emo band to go mainstream. when emo became gay was when a group of people didn't fit in and wanted to be like goths just not as extreme, and they didn't know what to call themselves. they erroneously dubbed themselves emo, and thus ruined the orginal emo scene because people thought it was just as gay as these people. it's not, its great

@Waterworks410 I know what emo is, I know it isn't a "fashion", nor is it Hawthorne Heights stuff, but this definitely is NOT emo. This is pop-punk. GREAT pop-punk, but pop-punk.
There's Midwest Emo (Mineral, Cap'n Jazz, Empire! Empire!, Snowing, etc.) and then there's emotional hardcore (or skramz/screamo), which is stuff like Orchid, Saetia, Daitro, City of Caterpillar, etc.

Saves the Day doesn't even resemble midwest emo like SDRE or Clarity-era Jimmy Eat World (Jimmy Eat World have become pop-punk after Clarity, I might add) but they're good nonetheless.

@magickjac oh my God. for the last time, no where in there did i ever say that jimmy eat world was the first emo band ever. i've never said. find my one of my posts where i said that. oh you cant? because i didn't. i said they were the first emo band to go mainstream by receiving moderate airplay on the radio. and by the way, JEW and weezer released their first albums during the same year, although JEW's album was recorded almost a full 6 months before weezer's.

Jimmy Eat World didn't do shit "pop-wise" until like mid to late 90s, but Weezer was all over the place in the early to mid nineties.
