I think part of the reason why middle east states hate the US is because the relationship implies an imbalance of power, and they don't like feeling inferior. However, life evolves through competition. Perhaps this is why the middle east states also dislike Israel- they seem so capable of wielding power.

I think part of the reason why middle east states hate the US is because the relationship implies an imbalance of power, and they don't like feeling inferior. However, life evolves through competition. Perhaps this is why the middle east states also dislike Israel- they seem so capable of wielding power.

The Middle East is a region characterised by extreme fragmentation at the hands of neo-imperialists (correct) but also because of internal strife/rivalry/supra-Islamic identity. The region experience revolutions, coups, power challenges annually and thus regimes are forced to look for western aid/be coercive in order to provide stability. Once achieved, development & plurality can sprout. Monarchial regimes are attempting this, rather than the radicals.

If I'm not mistaken, Muslim fundamentalists believe that the entire world should be ruled as an Islamic state.
